Chapter 1127: Blindfolded Battlefield

Doctor Zhao and the several people before him coughed repeatedly from choking. They were far too close to Zhong Zhen—this place had the thickest smoke on the entire field.

“Cough, cough…” Doctor Zhao said while coughing. “Are you all okay… Lin Qin, are you still here…”

“I… I’m here…”

Lin Qin’s voice came from nearby. Doctor Zhao quickly squinted his eyes, reached out to disperse the thick fog, came to Lin Qin’s side, and shielded her behind him.

“Is anyone else here…” Doctor Zhao turned around and asked in a low voice. “Xiao Xiao, Jin Yuanxun, Han Yimo… are you still here?”

But no one nearby responded to him. Doctor Zhao and Lin Qin could only swallow and begin slowly moving toward where they remembered the giant bell to be.

“What’s going on with that crazy man…?” Doctor Zhao muttered quietly. “Won’t listen no matter what you say… suddenly releasing this kind of thick fog…”

“You should lower your voice,” Lin Qin said. “It won’t be good if he discovers us. We’ve probably already alerted Baihu by now. We need to be careful with every step forward…”

“That huge explosion just now really concerns me…” Doctor Zhao said. “It sounded like something was being constructed, then instantly blown apart…”

“Don’t worry about those things,” Lin Qin said. “Focus on the giant bell.”

“Okay…”

The two knew that on this battlefield full of “Echoes,” “Intelligence” was always more important than abilities. But everyone at this moment was like killing blindfolded—no one knew exactly what was happening.

Jin Yuanxun held his injured arm and walked silently behind Doctor Zhao and Lin Qin.

He had just heard Doctor Zhao’s shout but didn’t immediately respond. He simply picked up an iron rod from the ground, gripped it in his hand, and quietly followed, hiding in the shadows while remaining vigilant for Zhong Zhen who could appear at any moment.

Just as Doctor Zhao had said, Zhong Zhen’s actions were far too strange. Although everyone at “Heaven’s Mouth” knew he was never a good person to begin with, he also had no reason to go on a killing spree single-handedly in this place.

But just then, his ear twitched as he heard somewhat obvious footsteps coming from behind. He looked back in confusion, only to see Zhong Zhen with a fierce grin suddenly swing his knife down from behind him. Jin Yuanxun immediately raised the iron rod horizontally in front of him, blocking this fatal strike.

The weapons collided with a tremendous sound, causing Doctor Zhao and Lin Qin ahead to turn around abruptly. They immediately saw Jin Yuanxun and Zhong Zhen locked together with their weapons in a standoff.

“Mister, you…” Jin Yuanxun gritted his teeth as he gripped the iron rod. Although he was agile enough, in terms of pure strength it was difficult to match an adult man. “Have you gone mad… how did we provoke you…”

Zhong Zhen didn’t answer, only grinned fiercely while gritting his teeth and pressing down on the blade. Jin Yuanxun wanted to use “Transition,” but the situation before him was far too urgent—his “Faith” was affected.

“If you don’t speak, I won’t hold back…”

Just as Jin Yuanxun finished speaking, he saw the bloodstain by Zhong Zhen’s ear. He frowned, as if thinking of something.

“He seems unable to hear…”

“Unable to hear…?”

Doctor Zhao was stunned for a moment, but quickly felt that now wasn’t the time to consider this. To save Jin Yuanxun’s life, he hurriedly rushed forward and clumsily executed a flying kick. While kicking Zhong Zhen, he also fell flat on the ground.

Zhong Zhen retreated a few steps. Just as he was preparing to attack again, a massive figure suddenly appeared from the thick smoke behind him, then locked his neck with an iron-like arm.

“Xiao Xiao…!”

The person who had locked Zhong Zhen was precisely Xiao Xiao.

Seeing that several teammates were safe and sound, Doctor Zhao felt somewhat relieved. Now only Han Yimo should be lying in some unknown corner.

After Zhong Zhen’s throat was locked, he made a decisive decision. He reversed his grip on the folding knife in his hand and rapidly stabbed at Xiao Xiao’s arm several times.

Xiao Xiao grunted in pain and quickly withdrew her hand. She checked her arm and found it had been stabbed with five deep wounds. Now all the wounds were bleeding profusely.

Taking advantage of Xiao Xiao’s distraction, Zhong Zhen extended his foot to kick at her knee. As Xiao Xiao bent down, the small knife thrust toward her throat again.

With no other choice, Xiao Xiao could only extend her arm to block again, once more getting her arm stabbed. Blood instantly splattered on the ground.

As Zhong Zhen rushed forward wanting to finish off Xiao Xiao, Jin Yuanxun finally recovered his faith and “Transitioned” to Zhong Zhen’s side. He then swung the iron rod at the other’s wrist, thinking he could disarm him. But Zhong Zhen withdrew his hand and slashed the dagger at Jin Yuanxun’s neck again. Jin Yuanxun hurriedly leaned back to dodge, but his eyebrow was still cut with a large gash.

Before Jin Yuanxun could react, he vanished from his original position again before the other could continue attacking, appearing behind Zhong Zhen. Before the rod could land on the other’s head, Zhong Zhen released massive smoke on the spot.

Jin Yuanxun was forced back a step by the sudden air pressure, his eyes instantly unable to open. He coughed violently twice, feeling something pierce through the thick fog and fly toward his chest.

The next second, he only felt a chill in his chest, and the other stopped moving. He also stopped moving.

Jin Yuanxun looked down somewhat incredulously at the center of his chest. The other’s knife had already been inserted into his chest.

But the actual situation was that only the tip had been inserted. Drops of blood flowed down his shirt—the situation looked somewhat terrifying, though this wound didn’t appear fatal.

Jin Yuanxun slowly stepped back, letting the knife leave his body. Only then did the obvious stabbing pain transmit to his heart and lungs, and more blood began to flow slowly.

He looked up somewhat puzzled. After the smoke slowly dispersed, he looked at Zhong Zhen and his eyes widened the next second.

A very neat, transparent hole had appeared in the middle of Zhong Zhen’s throat, also gushing with blood. It seemed that Zhong Zhen had already died before stabbing the knife into his body.

“Ssibal…” Jin Yuanxun cursed under his breath. “What the hell is going on…?”

Doctor Zhao and the others came forward one after another to look. They felt that the current situation seemed increasingly incomprehensible. Someone had attacked Zhong Zhen?

But aside from the four of them, there were no other “Participants” nearby. So who did this?

Zhong Zhen’s body fell straight down like a statue, no longer moving.

“It seems there are others watching us…” Doctor Zhao said quietly to the group.

As soon as the words fell, the place where Zhong Zhen had fallen began to distort and change. A figure in a suit began to appear beside the corpse.

Everyone looked on in confusion, then all gasped in the next second.

This suddenly appearing person was actually wearing a “Monkey” mask—clearly a Man-Monkey.

“My god…” Doctor Zhao swallowed. “This path is way too difficult…”

Before the group could prepare themselves, the Man-Monkey raised his head. His gaze shot out from within the mask, then he spoke four words that completely caught the four off guard—”Long live Extreme Path.”
