Amidst the great chaos, the “Extreme Path” members began successfully infiltrating the crowds.
The organization of over a hundred people had already lost more than half their numbers in the previous task of destroying the giant bell. Now, most of the remaining members were also injured.
Fortunately, the eight team leaders previously designated by Yan Zhichun were still present, and the “Extreme Path” divided into eight teams and began moving in different directions.
Yan Zhichun, still shaken, led seven or eight people behind her. Along the way, they pretended to be rioters as they walked forward, finally arriving at their destination without incident before dusk.
The location she reached was a bookstore, with a white flower snake hanging bizarrely at the entrance.
The several people behind Yan Zhichun frowned at this sight, scared enough to stop in their tracks. Yan Zhichun, however, walked around the white snake without a word and entered the bookstore as if she had seen nothing at all.
“Mmm mmm mmm…”
The white flower snake waved its hands at Yan Zhichun, seemingly trying to stop her, but the hanging rope wrapped around his neck prevented him from saying anything for the moment.
“Everyone come in and rest for a bit!” Yan Zhichun turned back to say to the many “Extreme Path” members behind her. “After rushing around all this way, we’re tired. We’ve arrived.”
Though the crowd hesitated for a moment after hearing this, thinking that Yan Zhichun was the “Extreme Path King” immediately put them at ease, and they entered the bookstore one after another to sit down.
Seeing Yan Zhichun treating the bookstore like her own home, the white snake became displeased at once.
He hurriedly reached to untie the rope around his neck, but since he had just hanged himself, the rope happened to be tight. After trying for a long time without success, everyone could only watch through the glass as this strange “Zodiac” hung there gesticulating wildly, yet not knowing what exactly he was doing.
“Uh…” One “Extreme Path” member spoke to Yan Zhichun. “Sis… shouldn’t we do something about that ‘Zodiac’? He looks like he’s dying.”
“No need.” Yan Zhichun shook her head, then raised her voice to shout toward the door. “White Snake, don’t be too anxious, take your time hanging. We’re not in a hurry to leave.”
The white snake kept kicking his legs in midair, looking extremely anxious.
Regardless of whether they were in a hurry to leave or not, the bookstore was after all White Snake’s own “game venue.” How could there be any reason to let “participants” come in and sit casually?
After finally untying the rope around his neck, White Snake stumbled and fell to the ground, coughed violently a few times, then stood up with a disgusted expression and entered the bookstore door.
“You damned dead girl, what the hell are you trying to do?” White Snake rubbed his neck while cursing. “Who barges into someone’s house while they’re hanging themselves? All of you get out and come in again properly.”
“Ah, sorry, it’s just that outside is really too dangerous.” Yan Zhichun smiled and said. “Coming in early is safer for us.”
“That’s too ridiculous.” White Snake said. “This is a legitimate venue, not some shelter. If it were just you coming alone, fine, but bringing so many people won’t do. I need to charge admission.”
“Admission?” Yan Zhichun paused. “I don’t think that’s necessary, right? After all, it’s already come to this critical juncture.”
“‘This’ critical juncture?” White Snake raised his eyebrows. “Which critical juncture is ‘this’ critical juncture? You damned dead girl, don’t try to take advantage. One thing at a time—if these people don’t pay admission, then figure out a way to join the association. I happen to be short on people.”
After hearing White Snake’s words, Yan Zhichun hesitated slightly. She felt that White Snake’s attitude was strange.
It was as if… he completely didn’t know about the plan.
“White Snake…” Yan Zhichun slowly stood up, walked to White Snake’s side, and asked softly, “Don’t you know what we’re here for?”
“For what?” White Snake asked in confusion. “Don’t tell me you dead girl need counseling again? I’ll say this upfront—I gave you free counseling once last time. If you want counseling this time, you must join the association.”
Yan Zhichun frowned, feeling that things didn’t seem quite right.
White Snake actually had no idea what the current situation was?
The plan seemed to have broken down at White Snake’s location. Even all the “Extreme Path” members knew that after damaging the giant bell, they needed to evacuate at the eight “Zodiac” locations, yet the person being evacuated didn’t know…
Could it be that there was no White Snake in the “rebellion plan” at all?
An uneasy thought began spreading in Yan Zhichun’s heart. She vaguely felt that she might have chosen a “death gate.”
…
“What are you pretending about?” Jiang Ruoxue stood with her hands on her hips, staring at the obese Earth-Monkey before her with complete confusion.
She had led everyone to this casino, thinking they could receive shelter, but Earth-Monkey looked completely unconcerned about everyone’s lives or deaths, even expressing confusion at their arrival.
Moreover, Jiang Ruoxue’s team here originally had more people than the others, reaching a full dozen or more.
“Where am I pretending?” Earth-Monkey sat behind the casino counter with his legs propped on the table and a cigarette hanging from his mouth, saying lazily, “I really don’t know why you all came here. If you want to smash, grab, and burn, I suggest changing locations. Robbing my casino is basically a dead end.”
“You!” Jiang Ruoxue stepped forward, her expression looking very angry. “I don’t know what kind of temperament you have, but joking around at a time like this is going too far… We risked our lives to get here!”
“Risked your lives?” Earth-Monkey lazily raised his eyes. “With all due respect… even if you all lose your lives, what does it have to do with me, an honest ‘Zodiac’?”
“You old fat man are so heartless…” Jiang Ruoxue muttered.
“Huh…?” Earth-Monkey was clearly somewhat angry after hearing this. “What kind of talk is that? I’m just minding my own business working here—did I provoke you?”
Jiang Ruoxue walked forward and said to Earth-Monkey in a low voice, “Everyone behind me is ‘one of us.’ There’s no need to put on an act!”
“What the hell…” Earth-Monkey frowned, took the cigarette from his mouth and threw it into the instant noodle bowl. “Who the hell is one of you… Can’t you all see I’m a monkey?”
“This is bad…” Jiang Ruoxue murmured. “What kind of ghost ‘causality’ is this… Could it be that my location is a ‘death gate’?”
“You’re really strange.” Earth-Monkey slowly stood up. “From the moment you walked in until now, you’ve just been saying incomprehensible things. If you’re not playing games, please don’t delay my business. The casino just opened today, and there’s now a tea fee to enter. Everyone, good luck and prosperity.”
Jiang Ruoxue’s face turned ashen as she began contemplating the current situation. Unfortunately, Zhoumo hadn’t contacted her yet, so she had no way to actively send out “sound transmission.”
…
Old Sun led five people behind him to the location on the map marked as “Chen Dragon,” and was immediately dumbfounded.
This place was merely an ordinary empty lot—there was no “Zodiac” at all.
“Old Sun… what did you bring us here for?”
Old Sun stood on the empty lot looking around in bewilderment, feeling that the plan seemed to have gone wrong.
