Black Sheep wore a smile as he sent off Xiao Ran, then turned back to look at the crowd at the other end of the corridor.
He had heard he would have helpers, but never imagined he would have this many.
The corridor was densely packed with at least a hundred people. This didn’t look like covert operations at all—it looked like all-out war.
Black Sheep felt caught between a rock and a hard place. He wasn’t sure if this large group of “Participants” were the helpers Baiyang had arranged for him. If he walked over and they discovered his “Zodiac” appearance and scattered in full retreat, things would become even more troublesome.
Some time had passed since the “Zodiacs” got off work. Most were resting in their rooms. Only a few “Human-level” wandering the corridors had noticed this bizarre scene. There should still be a few minutes before the situation became fully exposed.
Just as Black Sheep predicted, more and more “Zodiacs” came into the corridor and stopped in their tracks after seeing this scene.
Among them were actual “rebels” mixed with many “Participants” scattered throughout various locations.
Only now did this team truly understand how difficult this “rebellion” would be.
There was only one path on the “train.” Once this path was blocked, everyone’s progress would be obstructed.
Black Sheep paced back and forth anxiously. His situation was somewhat passive. After all, he didn’t recognize any of his teammates’ appearances and could only wait for the first person to show up before asking about the situation.
Just as he was thinking this, he suddenly saw a door not far away open. A brightly colored rooster emerged with an old man, looked around to assess the situation, then walked toward him. Behind them followed about ten more people, all “Participants.”
“Oh…?” Black Sheep slowly raised his eyebrows, feeling that the right people had arrived this time.
Earth-Chicken walked while sighing, cursing and grumbling: “Even if Baiyang is handsome, he can’t pull something like this… How dangerous is such a big scene?”
Black Sheep was momentarily speechless, then said: “You’re the first to arrive.”
“If it weren’t so noisy outside, I would have arrived earlier.” Earth-Chicken said irritably. “The old man behind me is handed over to you. I’m leaving.”
“Leaving?”
“Why not?” Earth-Chicken crossed her arms. “Do I have to stand among this crowd at such a dangerous time? I’m going to hide first.”
Black Sheep chuckled after hearing this: “Didn’t your Earth-Ox friend say ‘counterpart killing’? If you leave, what about Heavenly-Chicken?”
Earth-Chicken walked forward a few steps and pulled Black Sheep aside to speak quietly: “You and I both know ‘counterpart killing’ is fake. Now you’re asking me what to do about Heavenly-Chicken? How should I know what to do about her?”
“Yes, we both know counterpart killing is fake.” Black Sheep narrowed his eyes. “But others don’t know. As the first person to arrive, if you don’t go to the ‘Heavenly-level’ rooms, how will others be deceived by your friend’s tricks? Won’t her little scheme fall apart?”
Earth-Chicken slowly rose on her tiptoes, staring into Black Sheep’s eyes and enunciating each word: “We’re both sheep, but you have no grace at all.”
“Oh.” Black Sheep nodded, replying expressionlessly, “So I have no grace.”
Earth-Chicken snorted coldly and stepped back.
“It’s not like you don’t know what Heavenly-Chicken and Heavenly-Monkey are like. Those two are practically conjoined twins.” She sighed again. “If I go alone, I’ll definitely run into both of them. Even if I’m really going to pretend to kill, they should at least arrange a monkey for me, right?”
“Don’t you trust Brother Yang’s methods?” Black Sheep said. “The ‘Monkey’ is definitely here, just hasn’t shown up yet.”
“Well, let me say this first.” Earth-Chicken extended a feathered finger and pointed at Black Sheep. “I have very high standards for my partner’s appearance. It better be a handsome monkey, so I have motivation to risk my life. As for appearance level, I’m not expecting him to be like Baiyang, but at minimum he can’t be uglier than you. Got it?”
Black Sheep felt somewhat helpless, as this statement was impossible to tell whether it was praise or insult: “What good does it do for me to hear this? I’m not the one choosing this monkey, and it’s not chosen based on appearance. Though maybe… Brother Yang can think of this aspect.”
“Think of this aspect?!” Earth-Chicken became even more fired up after hearing this. “That Brother Yang of yours is good in every way, but when it comes to matters between men and women, he’s like a block of wood! How could he possibly think of such things for me?”
“If he can’t think of it, then he can’t.” Black Sheep also sighed. “You’re supposed to kill people with that monkey, not live your life with him. Besides… how handsome can a monkey be?”
“The Great Sage Equal to Heaven.” Earth-Chicken replied. “At minimum, the Six-Eared Macaque.”
Black Sheep lowered his head again and touched his sheep horns, feeling that each woman he encountered today was more troublesome than the last.
“Fine.” Earth-Chicken said. “Stop worrying about me. I’ll go find my sisters and wander around nearby. When the time is right, I’ll go find Heavenly-Chicken.”
Watching her wave and walk away, Black Sheep didn’t know how to persuade her. After all, every “Zodiac” who chose to rebel was without exception a problem character.
Black Sheep could only redirect his gaze to the old man before him. This old man was filthy, covered in dust. Who knew what kind of life he normally lived.
“Are you the leader?” Black Sheep asked.
“Yes…” The old man nodded, stepped forward, and smiled with bared teeth. “What do we do next?”
“Wait for people.” Black Sheep said. “There’s still a bit of time. However many teams can come, I’ll lead that many teams forward.”
The old man nodded, but felt that standing here with over ten people was a bit too conspicuous.
“Um… is there anywhere we can hide?” the old man asked again.
“Hide?” Black Sheep chuckled. “Hide what?”
“Our situation seems a bit too dangerous…”
Before he finished speaking, a Man-Horse emerged from a door behind Black Sheep, then immediately widened his eyes on the spot.
“Ah! Why are there ‘Participants’?!” Man-Horse shouted, then immediately turned around. “Hey! Come quick…”
Black Sheep turned his head. In the next second, his figure explosively shot forward.
By the time the old man’s group could see clearly again, Black Sheep had already removed the other party’s mask and reached out to cover his mouth.
“Wait… wait a moment…” After Man-Horse came to his senses, he somewhat frantically squeezed out his voice. “I was wrong… I… I didn’t see anything…”
“Too late.”
Black Sheep slowly extended his thumb and stuffed it into the other party’s mouth. Then, under the gaze of the old man’s group, he used his finger to forcibly pierce a hole through Man-Horse’s tongue.
Screams mixed with fresh blood sprayed from the other party’s mouth. This person probably wouldn’t survive.
The old man, who had been greeting them with a smile, immediately became expressionless upon seeing this scene. It seemed that the “Zodiac” receiving the “Extreme Path” was not a friendly character.
“With me here, there’s no need to hide.” Black Sheep said.
