“Hello, is the leader here?”
Xiao Ran hadn’t expected the man appearing before her to look so young. For a moment, she couldn’t determine his identity and could only try to strike up a conversation with him.
But he seemed unwilling to pay her any attention.
Qinglong sighed somewhat impatiently. His eyes slightly closed, he reached out with slender fingers to press hard against his temples, thinking to himself that there were more and more “Zodiac” on the “Train” who didn’t know their place.
Clearly knowing he was here, someone still dared to swagger in and push open the door to shout.
Whether they were “Human-level” or “Earth-level,” daring to commit such an absurd mistake, all the “Zodiac” associated with her were destined to die today.
But when he raised his head to look at the figure before him, his train of thought became somewhat blocked.
Because the person who pushed open the door and came in shouting loudly wasn’t a “Zodiac” at all, but rather a “Participant” who didn’t even have a mask.
Due to the massive difference in rank, Qinglong momentarily didn’t know how to speak. He just stared at Xiao Ran with a pair of bloodshot eyes.
“Why aren’t you speaking?” Xiao Ran asked. “Are you Heavenly-Dragon…?”
As soon as Xiao Ran finished speaking, her gaze was drawn to a pitch-black object on the table. That thing looked like a soccer ball, but it was completely black. From behind, she couldn’t make out what it was.
“Or… Qinglong?” Xiao Ran stared at the black shadow on the table and asked again.
Qinglong reached out to rub his temples. He said nothing, only looking at the door behind Xiao Ran, feeling that outside the door was chaotic.
Under normal circumstances, only the “Human-level” area would be this chaotic, because the “human smell” on them was the heaviest.
Once they became “Earth-level,” the “Zodiac” would become much more restrained. After going through the numerous trials he had carefully set up, emotions like excitement and sadness were rarely seen on them.
“Why is it so dark in this room?” Xiao Ran frowned and took a step forward. “Are you the one in charge here?”
She remembered that the Heiyang had once said that Qinglong was refined, cultured, and approachable. But the man before her hadn’t said a word for a long time after she entered. He clearly didn’t match these descriptions. If he wasn’t Heavenly-Dragon, then he should be a secretary or assistant-type role.
Qinglong stared at Xiao Ran and slowly leaned his body, using one hand to support his cheek.
He felt like maybe he had been managing this place too loosely…?
Could it be that he still hadn’t killed enough people?
Now there was actually a “Participant” swaggering here to point fingers at him. Qinglong’s mind became increasingly chaotic, and his desire to kill people could not be suppressed at all.
There were so many “Zodiac” in the corridor outside, and a group of “Heaven-level” on both left and right sides… Yet no one stopped her. How absurd was this situation?
But this woman… Why did it feel like he had seen her somewhere before?
“Hey, hey, hey…” Xiao Ran reached out to knock on the table. “You look quite spirited, so why are you so dazed? Is there anyone in charge?”
After Xiao Ran finished speaking, her gaze caught sight of another wooden door on the opposite side of the room.
That wooden door looked much more high-class than the door to this room. If there was any leader, they should be in the room behind that door.
“Forget it…” Xiao Ran put away what little smile was on her face, stopped bothering with Qinglong, and walked straight to the door of the “Front of the Train” room. “If you don’t want to talk, fine. When I meet the leader, I’ll definitely report your attitude.”
Seeing Xiao Ran approaching the final room step by step, Qinglong’s expression gradually darkened. “Who told you to come find me?”
This was the first time Qinglong spoke. The strange voice made Xiao Ran, who was preparing to knock on the door, freeze in place.
She seemed to hear both a male and female voice emanating from this man’s throat. These two voices were completely identical in tone and inflection, making Xiao Ran think for a moment that she had misheard.
She hesitated slightly and slowly turned her head. Before she could meet Qinglong’s gaze, she saw with one glance the thing in the center of the table.
This wasn’t some pitch-black soccer ball at all… It was clearly a fresh human head that had died not long ago.
Dark red blood was splattered on the table surface, hanging on the face of the head. In the dim lighting, it only looked like some spilled beverage.
From the back earlier, she had no way to know its full appearance, but now she was so frightened she lost her voice.
And beside this miserably dead human head, the man supporting his cheek with his hand was expressionlessly staring at her.
“You… you…” No matter how slow Xiao Ran’s reaction was, she now understood that the man before her had an unusual identity. Her tone immediately softened. “Are you Qinglong…?”
“Who told you that you could find me here?” Qinglong asked again.
Xiao Ran stared at the human head on the table, only feeling that the hairs on her back had already lifted up her clothes. The blood throughout her body ran cold.
“Qing… no…” Xiao Ran stammered. “I didn’t want to disturb you… But I really have something very important to report… That’s why I went through so much hardship to come to the ‘Front of the Train’… I have no malicious intent…”
Qinglong slowly moved his gaze away, looking at the table before him, and said softly, “Wipe it clean.”
“Wipe… clean?” Xiao Ran stared at the human head and froze for a moment, not knowing what Qinglong was referring to.
“The place you just knocked on.” Qinglong said again.
“Ah…? Oh…” Although Xiao Ran didn’t quite understand, she still came to the side of the table she had just knocked on and reached out her palm to wipe across it. She couldn’t see where she had dirtied it. She just kept wiping on the table surface with her hand.
After a short while, Xiao Ran raised her head, tried her best to squeeze out a smile, and asked Qinglong, “Is this okay?”
Qinglong’s expression was even darker than before. “Do you think… Why would I think it’s unclean?”
“I…” Xiao Ran blinked. Her mind went completely blank.
“As an ‘insect’… How dare you knock on my table?” Qinglong’s tone remained indifferent throughout, as if chatting with someone already dead.
Hearing this, Xiao Ran was shocked and horrified. She hurriedly walked to Qinglong’s side and said, “But I really have something very important to report to you… I’m thinking of you, and I, I used to be a ‘Zodiac’ too. Due to some communication mishaps, my mask disappeared… Actually, we’re on the same side!”
Qinglong didn’t speak. He just sighed heavily. This woman before him had rattled off all the words in her mind in one breath, making Qinglong feel even more irritated.
He reached out his hand, just about to pierce through Xiao Ran’s chest, when Xiao Ran shouted once more, “Qi Xia is leading ‘Participants’ in a rebellion…!! I came specifically to report this matter to you. You must believe me.”
