“Let’s go, quickly!” Heavenly-Horse flashed and instantly arrived beside Earth-Horse. “Quick, take me there!”
Heavenly-Mouse immediately felt something was wrong, because an unusual scent began to flood into his nose.
But before he could say what scent he had detected, Heavenly-Horse had already flashed away with her toward a more distant location.
“Hey!!” Heavenly-Mouse shouted somewhat anxiously. “That Earth-Horse is lying!!”
But Heavenly-Horse seemed to have already been overwhelmed by the matter concerning Heavenly-Tiger. She turned a deaf ear and only moved forward with an anxious expression, completely unable to hear Heavenly-Mouse’s shouts from behind.
“Leader…” Earth-Mouse moved sideways a step, blocking Heavenly-Mouse’s path and conveniently obstructing his line of sight. “If you have anything, you can tell me and I’ll help you handle it. Do you need me to go find Leader Heavenly-Horse?”
Hearing this, Heavenly-Mouse frowned slightly. He looked around—three “Earth-level” Zodiacs happened to be standing in three directions around him, surrounding him. The scent on each person was somewhat complex.
He did understand the Earth-Mouse before him. This person had a glib tongue and a wavering mindset, and the scent on him had always been extremely complex. But the two people beside him were difficult to fathom.
When these two had just met, they didn’t have such complex scents. Why had they suddenly changed now…?
An uneasy premonition arose in Heavenly-Mouse’s heart. Even if he was unwilling to admit it, at this moment he had to prepare for the worst…
Suppose these two who suddenly appeared hadn’t received the “summons” but were “rebels” wanting to head to the “train head”—what then?
A drop of cold sweat quietly slid down Heavenly-Mouse’s forehead. If that were really the case, he could only fight two “Earth-level” Zodiacs with his injured body, and the Earth-Mouse before him would most likely stand by and watch.
Heavenly-Mouse’s eyeballs flickered rapidly. He felt the best approach now was to temporarily escape this dangerous situation.
Even if those two really were “rebels,” they had nothing to do with him. They wanted to head to the train head just now, indicating their target wasn’t him to begin with.
“Aren’t you looking for Heavenly-Monkey and Heavenly-Chicken?” Heavenly-Mouse said. “They should still be in their rooms. Go quickly, or you’ll be delayed if you’re late.”
Earth-Monkey looked at Earth-Chicken, Earth-Chicken looked at Earth-Mouse, and finally Earth-Mouse nodded slightly.
Seeing Earth-Mouse’s meaning, Earth-Chicken and Earth-Monkey imperceptibly took a step back, then said, “Excuse us, we’ll go first.”
The two left the spot one after another. Heavenly-Mouse turned around to watch their departing backs. Only after they turned the corner toward the rooms where the “Heavenly-level” Zodiacs were located did he breathe a slight sigh of relief.
Only one Earth-Mouse remained before him. Even if he really was a “rebel,” in a one-on-one fight, he wouldn’t lose.
“Damn beast.” Heavenly-Mouse called out. “You swaggered over here like this—didn’t you see any trace of ‘rebels’ along the way?”
“You think too highly of me.” Earth-Mouse lowered his head and said with a humble expression. “I can’t smell the scent on them. I still had to come find you for help first thing.”
“Then tell me all the suspicious rooms.” Heavenly-Mouse said as he walked forward.
“That would be perfect, Leader.” Earth-Mouse’s expression darkened. “I happened to pass by several suspicious rooms. I’ll point them out to you.”
The two, each harboring their own ulterior motives, walked forward and soon disappeared into the depths of the corridor.
Before long, two more figures flashed through the corridor. Looking carefully, the newcomers were a white snake and a very tall Earth-Rabbit.
“Why are you following me?” White Snake walked in front, asking with a cautious expression.
“I’m not…” Earth-Rabbit shook his head. “I actually didn’t mean to follow you. Otherwise, you walk behind me.”
“Are you also going to the ‘train head’?” White Snake asked.
“More or less.” Earth-Rabbit paused, then changed his words. “No, I can’t say. What are you going to do?”
White Snake looked like he completely no longer cared about other “Zodiacs'” opinions and said directly, “I’m going to kill Heavenly-Snake. What about you?”
Earth-Rabbit paused after hearing this statement, then said, “What a coincidence, I’m going to kill Heavenly-Rabbit.”
“So we really are going the same way?” Earth-Snake smiled lightly. “Then let’s go together.”
“Because of ‘matched killing,’ right?”
“No.” White Snake shook his head. “Because of a personal grudge.”
The two arrived at the “train head” as if no one else existed. They seemed to already hear commotion coming from other “Heavenly-level” rooms, but the two didn’t pay attention. White Snake walked straight toward Heavenly-Snake’s door.
After waiting a while, he discovered Earth-Rabbit hadn’t entered, and asked with a trace of doubt, “What’s wrong?”
“I’m sorry.” Earth-Rabbit said. “May I ask which is Heavenly-Rabbit’s room? I’ve been here so long and still haven’t met this person.”
After hearing this, White Snake nodded. He was indeed quite familiar with this place. After all, he needed to come find Heavenly-Snake for experiments every day. He roughly eliminated some options and pointed toward a door in the corner. “It should be there, right? That’s either Heavenly-Pig or Heavenly-Rabbit. I heard Heavenly-Rabbit is a woman.”
“Alright…” Earth-Rabbit nodded and walked toward that door in the depths.
The two stood at their respective doorways, looked back at each other, then pushed open their doors and entered without the slightest hesitation.
After White Snake pushed open the door, he discovered Heavenly-Snake was standing beside a table, and before him, a completely naked girl was slowly sitting up.
The girl had her back to him, and like him, her back had been cut open in several places. But each cut had an eyeball moving within it, which involuntarily made him feel a trace of sympathy.
It seemed Heavenly-Snake had found a new test subject.
“Mm…?” Seeing the door being opened, Heavenly-Snake paused slightly. “Who let you in?”
White Snake moved his gaze to the floor, then said softly, “Teacher, it’s already chaos outside. Don’t we need to go out and take a look?”
“Do I need you to remind me…?” Heavenly-Snake said with a frown. “When did you become so lacking in manners… entering my room without even knocking. Next time there’s a new eyeball, I won’t test it on you anymore.”
Hearing this statement, White Snake felt a very strange feeling arise in his heart.
He reached out his hand and slowly unbuttoned his shirt, taking off his suit, then removed his blood-stained shirt.
He kept staring at the ground, saying softly, “Teacher, there’s something I truly don’t understand. I hope you can help answer my doubts.”
“Go ahead.” Heavenly-Snake picked up a towel and said while wiping his hands, “What is it this time?”
“That girl has four cuts on her back and four eyes that can ‘survive.’ I’m not mistaken, right?” Earth-Snake asked.
Hearing this statement, Heavenly-Snake frowned slightly, then said impassively, “Yes, what about it?”
Xiao Ran keenly sensed the atmosphere between these two wasn’t quite right. She hurriedly grabbed her clothes from the side to cover herself, then retreated to one side.
“But why does my back have countless wounds yet only one ‘surviving’ eye?” Earth-Snake slowly turned around, revealing his pale and mottled back.
