Chapter 232: Junnan

“Oh?” Qi Xia raised an eyebrow. “Kill me… interesting. That’s a very good idea.”

“Right?” The pale-faced young man nodded. “Buddy, I think so too.”

Qi Xia stared at this young man for a while, somewhat curious about him.

His features were very delicate, looking harmless, yet there was always a vicious edge between his brows and eyes.

“What should I call you?” Qi Xia asked.

“Chen Junnan.” The man paused, then continued, “May I ask how you’re called?”

“Qi Xia.”

“I see… Qi Xia.” Chen Junnan slowly broke into a grin. “How ridiculous…”

“Ridiculous?”

This person gave Qi Xia a very familiar feeling, but Qi Xia couldn’t recall where he had seen him before.

“Qi Xia… why exactly?” Chen Junnan’s crazed smile quickly twisted, but after just a few seconds, his eyes were filled with tears. “Why the hell are you here…?”

He seemed to be experiencing very complex emotions, as if on the edge of a breakdown, or perhaps he had already broken down long ago.

This question also annoyed Qi Xia somewhat, because Zhu Que had asked the same thing.

“Why would you ask that?” Qi Xia said, puzzled. “What’s your relationship with Zhu Que?”

Chen Junnan helplessly lowered his head and asked bewilderedly, “Absurd… me and Zhu Que? Qi Xia, did you come back to save Old Qiao?”

“What?”

“You clearly escaped already… why did you come back?” Chen Junnan asked through gritted teeth. “You didn’t come to save Old Qiao, but specifically came back to let me kill you?!”

This statement was shocking, yet still within Qi Xia’s range of acceptance.

It seemed his previous deduction was correct—he really had escaped the “Land of Finality,” but why would he come back?

“So I really did escape…?” Qi Xia nodded. “Chen Junnan, how long have you been here?”

He felt that before Lin Qin arrived… or perhaps even earlier, Chen Junnan should have been his teammate.

It was just that he retained too many memories, making it difficult for him to maintain clarity of mind now.

“How long have I been here…?” Chen Junnan smiled bitterly. “What kind of question is that? Is this stupid question trendy now?”

“What…?”

“Don’t we all arrive here at different times?!” Chen Junnan slowly put away his bitter smile and said with an angry expression, “Didn’t we all come together?! This endlessly looping hellhole… now we have to distinguish who came first?!”

This person had far too many memories.

In his memory… could he remember the original appearance of the “Land of Finality”?

Qi Xia thought for a moment and softened his tone. “Tell me then. What exactly did we experience?”

Chen Junnan’s mental state had never been very stable. After hearing Qi Xia’s question, his whole body trembled, and he said, “Qi Xia… back then, the three of us agreed that I would cover you two to get out… but you abandoned Old Qiao and escaped by yourself.”

“Wh-what?” Qi Xia was stunned for a moment.

“You’ve lost your memory, so you don’t even know how to defend yourself anymore?” Chen Junnan sneered. “Seven years! That was a whole seven years. Facing Qiao Jiajin who wholeheartedly wanted to help you… how did you have the heart to do it? That’s disgraceful, Old Qi. Do you know how many times Old Qiao died all alone in these seven years?”

“I…”

Some vague and baseless accusations were placed on Qi Xia, making him feel very uncomfortable.

“Touch your own conscience and ask yourself…” Chen Junnan said. “How many times did Old Qiao die for you? No… I should rephrase that. When has Qiao Jiajin not died because of you?”

Qi Xia felt somewhat troubled after hearing this.

“Chen Junnan, although I don’t know what happened before… based on my understanding of myself, I couldn’t possibly do something so heartless.” Qi Xia looked wistfully at the sky. “As long as someone in this world gives me their ‘sincerity,’ I couldn’t possibly repay them with ‘deception.’ The people I want to deal with have always been those liars full of lies.”

Chen Junnan fell silent.

After a long while, he slowly shook his head.

“Yes, even after such a huge upheaval, you’re still you.” Chen Junnan grabbed his own hair. “You know… these seven years, there hasn’t been a day I didn’t want to kill you… but when I actually saw you, I still hesitated. Old Qi, tell me, buddy, are you a petty person reaping what you sowed… or a hope worth entrusting?”

Qi Xia had no idea what the answer to this question was.

“Before answering you… I want to know what exactly happened between us before?”

Chen Junnan slowly stood up after hearing this and answered, “Old Qi, seven years ago, you clearly escaped.”

“But… how do you know I escaped?”

“You told me yourself. You said that after that day, you would succeed.” Chen Junnan stared at him with a serious expression. “Did you not escape? Are you going to contradict yourself now? I gave you my ‘sincerity,’ but you repaid me with ‘deception’ back then?”

“You’re saying… I personally told you… I was about to escape?” Qi Xia still felt it was very strange. “It sounds like you and I had a good relationship before. Why didn’t I take you with me?”

“Because I said I didn’t want to leave.” Chen Junnan’s eyes turned cold again. “But I never thought you would leave Old Qiao behind too… After that time, you never appeared in the interview room again…”

“I see…” Qi Xia slowly nodded. “So you didn’t see me leave with your own eyes… you just found that I had disappeared…”

“What do you mean?” Chen Junnan was somewhat confused. “So you did deceive me after all?”

“No.” Qi Xia shook his head. “Chen Junnan, is it possible… that it wasn’t me who deceived you, but that I was deceived?”

“Are you messing with me?” Chen Junnan laughed in anger. “Old Qi, in the ‘Land of Finality,’ how many people can deceive you?”

“Yu Nian’an is one of them,” Qi Xia said.

“Who?” Chen Junnan was stunned.

Seeing Chen Junnan’s puzzled expression, Qi Xia still felt something was wrong. “You’ve never heard the name Yu Nian’an?”

“There are so many people in the ‘Land of Finality.’ Do I have to remember all their names?”

A strange thought began to circle in Qi Xia’s mind.

“Chen Junnan… did you really have a good relationship with me before?” Qi Xia confirmed.

“How should I put it?” Chen Junnan hesitated somewhat. “You’re not very generous, so I feel my relationship with Old Qiao is better.”

Qi Xia shook his head. “Fine, even if you only met me a few times, it’s impossible you wouldn’t have heard the name ‘Yu Nian’an,’ right?”

Chen Junnan became more confused the more he listened. “What… I’ve met you, so I should know ‘Yu Nian’an’? Is Yu Nian’an that new girl who appeared in these last three cycles? Even if she’s pretty and has a good figure, I don’t know her.”

Qi Xia knew he was referring to Lin Qin.

“No, it’s the girl who’s been standing with me today,” Qi Xia said. “She is Yu Nian’an, my wife.”

“Your what…?” Chen Junnan touched his chin. “Wife?”

This simple rhetorical question threw Qi Xia’s mind into chaos.

In other words, this original comrade-in-arms… this man called Chen Junnan, had no idea he had a wife.

If that was the case… Yu Nian’an should have appeared within these seven years.
