Chapter 989: Home

Azure Dragon had quietly stayed in Heavenly-Dragon’s room for the entire night. After confirming there was no movement, he activated his transition and exited the room.

As he passed through the “Heavenly” room, he surveyed the nine people inside once more. Just like last night, they were gathered around the round table, their sitting postures unchanged.

In the center of the table sat an exquisite clock.

The clock was staring face to face with a human head that had already bled dry and was deathly pale.

Throughout the night, he had already given these “Heavenly-level” individuals an opportunity. He himself had stayed in the “train head” the entire time. If these “Heavenly-level” individuals still chose to initiate “Heavenly-level Moment,” he could only pretend to be caught off guard and deeply regretful.

This was both giving himself an opportunity, giving “Heavenly-Dragon” an opportunity, and also giving all these “Heavenly-level” individuals an opportunity.

But these “Heavenly-level” individuals seemed to all be intimidated by Heavenly-Pig’s severed head. No one dared to act rashly.

“Good morning, Nine,” Azure Dragon said with a smile.

The nine people stared quietly at Azure Dragon. No one spoke.

“Oh… my apologies.” Azure Dragon’s gaze shifted to the severed head in the center of the table. “Should it be ‘Ten’?”

“Can we move about freely now?” Heavenly-Bull said. “The ‘ants’ haven’t moved all night. I have a very ominous premonition. If we don’t go appease them soon, something might happen…”

“What’s the issue?” Azure Dragon asked back. “Are those wretched things addicted to work? I’m being magnanimous by giving them a holiday. Can they actually rebel?”

After hearing this, Heavenly-Bull sighed and said: “I know you can’t empathize with their way of thinking. But those ‘ants’ cannot listen, cannot see, cannot speak – they can only think. Throughout an entire night, they will give birth to countless anxious thoughts. Perhaps you simply can’t understand that for these people who have nothing, only regular, scheduled work will put them somewhat at ease.”

“How laughable…?” Azure Dragon grinned. “Little Bull… have you noticed that humans are inherently livestock?”

After hearing this, Heavenly-Bull furrowed her brow and denied after a few seconds: “I don’t think so.”

Heavenly-Bull didn’t know what Azure Dragon wanted to say. Her gaze only became increasingly cold.

“Clearly they’re ferocious animals that can run and hunt freely in the forest, but if you give them a mud pit, a few walls, and throw in some rotting leftovers that would make us nauseated, they’ll accept that way of living.” Azure Dragon grinned as he smiled. “The few pigs who lead the resistance will be slaughtered on the spot. Only those pigs content with the status quo remain to pass on the torch. They’re willing to eat, drink, and defecate all in the same mud pit, stinking to high heaven, eating and drinking while waiting for death, and then taking pleasure in it all.”

“What you’re describing sounds like it’s not ‘pigs’ or ‘humans,’ but rather everyone trapped here,” Heavenly-Bull said.

“Isn’t every person called ‘human’ like this?” Azure Dragon smiled. “Humans are most suited to surviving in crevices. No matter how much you squeeze their living space, they’ll only think of ways to retreat, then engage in self-consolation. It’s a fully automatic process that saves me a lot of trouble.”

“What…” Heavenly-Bull said with furrowed brows. “Stop with the nonsense. Humans aren’t like that.”

“Not like that? Little Bull, you tell me – those ‘ants’ have already reached such a miserable state. After a night of ‘rest,’ what will they be thinking about the entire time?”

“This…”

“You’re unwilling to say it, so I’ll say it.” Azure Dragon moved close to Heavenly-Bull’s face and said: “The only thought that will swirl in their minds is ‘Have I become useless?’ and ‘Will I be erased?’… Hahahaha! This is the best joke I’ve thought of today!”

Aside from Azure Dragon, everyone else was utterly silent.

“Laugh! Why aren’t you laughing?!”

Listening to Azure Dragon’s loud laughter in the room, the expressions of the many “Heavenly-level” individuals naturally didn’t look good. However, Heavenly-Mouse and Heavenly-Tiger revealed smiles identical to Azure Dragon’s after a moment.

“Azure Dragon…” Heavenly-Bull interrupted. “You shouldn’t mock them like this. The fact that they can endure all of this shows they have something they care about. They want to live.”

“Something they care about…?” After hearing this, Azure Dragon’s expression paused slightly. Then, widening his eyes, he laughed even more maniacally. “What do you mean by something they care about?”

“It’s ‘home,'” Heavenly-Bull said. “It’s precisely because of the word ‘home’ that many people are willing to endure in silence. The reason they can tolerate all of this is because one day they want to return ‘home.'”

“Hahahahahaha! ‘Home’! Interesting!” Azure Dragon laughed so hard he swayed back and forth, clutching his stomach and shouting wantonly.

After a moment, he raised his head and took another step forward. His terrifying aura made Heavenly-Bull step back: “Little Bull, do you know? In order to distinguish domesticated pigs from wild boars, people bestowed upon them a new name… tell me what it’s called?”

“It’s called…” Heavenly-Bull was at a loss for words.

“It’s called ‘domestic pig’ [家豬 – jiāzhū, literally ‘home pig’].” Azure Dragon laughed loudly. “Hahaha! Little Bull, this is the meaning of ‘home’… today’s second joke! Hahahahahahaha! This character traps them generation after generation, never to be reborn, and it actually became the ‘attachment’ you speak of?!”

Heavenly-Bull only felt that every sentence from Azure Dragon was like a knife cutting into her heart. She wanted to refute him, but couldn’t find any angle from which to do so.

An extremely manic person was forcefully instilling extremely manic thoughts with the most domineering strength. Just listening to a few sentences would cause one’s beliefs to infinitely crumble.

Azure Dragon only continued to laugh wantonly. Every time he opened his mouth, his voice was half male and half female, sounding like a crowd of people laughing.

Extremely lively yet also extremely eerie.

“Little Bull… isn’t this joke funny either…?” Azure Dragon stopped laughing and said with slight concern: “How about you tell me again – how do you write the character for ‘home’ [家]?”

Heavenly-Bull paused, then answered: “A roof radical above, and below is a… a…”

“A ‘豕’ [zhì – pig].” Azure Dragon continued. “I don’t need to teach you, right? In ancient times, ‘豕’ meant ‘pig.’ A ‘roof’ with a ‘pig’ underneath – this character… how interesting is that?”

With just a few sentences, Heavenly-Bull’s eyes looked as if she had already died.

She knew Azure Dragon was wrong, but where exactly was he wrong?

How she hoped that someone could stand up at this moment to refute Azure Dragon… but the people before her had either resigned themselves to fate or had already completely gone mad.

“Are you done talking…?” Heavenly-Bull asked in a deep voice. “If you’re done, let me go. Even if you have countless reasons… ‘managing the ants’ is still my duty. If something happens, I cannot bear the responsibility.”

“What a boring and rigid woman…” Azure Dragon sighed. “Then go quickly, go see your beloved treasures.”

The moment his words fell, the entire room suddenly shook violently, as if experiencing a mild earthquake.

Everyone looked puzzled. In the next second, terrifying red light seeped in through the doorway.
