Lei Bao keenly noticed the fleeting smile on Ge Xiu’s face and frowned slightly: “What are you so pleased about?”
“Let’s have a fair duel between men!” Ge Xiu stepped forward, his sleeves billowing dramatically. “Lei Bao! Haven’t you always wanted to fight me?”
Lei Bao sneered: “The always cautious Junk King suddenly wants to fight me?”
“Afraid?” Ge Xiu roared.
“Then… as you wish!” Lei Bao threw a punch toward Ge Xiu.
Though they were more than ten paces apart, everyone could feel the violent force of the punch. Su Muyu stepped slightly to the side, shielding Xu An: “The force arrives before the fist. This is the Formless Fist. Is he from the Lei Family Fortress?”
“The petty Lei Family Fortress, how laughable!” Ge Xiu charged straight into the force of the punch. His fists collided with a sound like a striking stone. He quickly reached Lei Bao and threw a punch. Their fists met with a thunderous crash, and both men retreated three steps.
Lei Bao’s steps left footprints three inches deep in the ground.
Ge Xiu seemed to slide backward.
Su Muyu shook his head slightly. There was a reason Lei Bao ranked higher than Ge Xiu – his internal energy far surpassed Ge Xiu’s. His technique showed the refinement of an established martial arts school, while Ge Xiu’s skills were cobbled together from years of street fighting. Though they appeared evenly matched on the surface, the fundamental difference in their cultivation was undeniable.
“You’ll be defeated within thirty moves,” Lei Bao sneered.
Ge Xiu showed a vicious smile: “I may lose, but you must die!”
“Lei Bao.” The white-robed Sword Bearer on the roof suddenly spoke. “Don’t waste unnecessary time.”
“Rest assured, when I say thirty moves, I mean thirty moves.” Lei Bao leaped into the air and let out a mighty roar.
It thundered like lightning!
The Longsheng Gate disciples all covered their ears at the thunderous shout. Those with weaker internal energy collapsed directly. Even Xu An clutched his ears, swaying but refusing to fall. Su Muyu, naturally, showed no reaction, merely commenting: “Thunder Roar Technique.”
The white-robed sword-bearers on both roofs noticed Su Muyu and quietly gripped their sword handles.
Ge Xiu’s energy was completely suppressed by the Thunder Roar. His feet felt bound by iron weights, unable to move an inch.
Lei Bao lowered his head slightly, both hands forming fists. His punch cut through the air with a rending thunderclap, smashing down toward Ge Xiu.
Ge Xiu gritted his teeth and used every ounce of his strength to roar, finally breaking free of the weight on his feet. He quickly leaped back three steps. Lei Bao’s punch struck where he had been standing, creating a massive crater.
Ge Xiu broke out in a cold sweat – that punch would have split his skull. But Lei Bao gave him no time to breathe, immediately following with another punch. Afraid of being trapped again, Ge Xiu threw punch after punch, trying to reverse the situation.
Their fists simultaneously struck each other’s chests.
Lei Bao’s mouth twitched violently.
Ge Xiu coughed up blood.
Their judgment of the battle situation and combat techniques were evenly matched.
However, the gap in their internal energy made the outcome increasingly clear.
“You’re just a street thug who got lucky. How dare you fight me!” Lei Bao sneered.
Ge Xiu lifted his head, smiling through bloody teeth: “Because I am a thug and you’re from a noble family, in a life-or-death battle, I’ll truly stake my life!”
“What!” Lei Bao suddenly sensed something wrong and instinctively tried to retreat.
But it was too late. Ge Xiu seized his arms while several black metal balls dropped from his feet.
“These are my—” Lei Bao exclaimed.
“That’s right, the Thunder Zhenzhus I had stolen from you – the Lei Family Fortress’s Lightning Beads!” Ge Xiu laughed.
“Damn it!” Lei Bao lifted Ge Xiu and leaped into the air as the Lightning Beads exploded below, blasting them both away. They landed simultaneously, covered in blood. Ge Xiu was exhausted, struggling and failing to rise, while Lei Bao managed to stand unsteadily and stagger toward him.
“Though mostly an act, I must admit there was some true heroic spirit there.” Su Muyu took one step forward and appeared before Ge Xiu.
Ge Xiu smiled: “So you saw through it.”
The white-robed Sword Bearers on the roofs moved to draw their swords, but when they pulled with force, only empty handles came out. Shocked, they turned their heads and saw each other.
How could they see each other from opposite roofs?
But there was no time to ponder this question.
A black shadow landed behind them, smashed their heads together, and knocked them unconscious.
The figure stroked his mustache and smiled: “Unrivaled under heaven?”
Below, Lei Bao faced Su Muyu, instinct telling him this was a terrifying opponent. He asked quietly: “Who are you?”
“Why would someone from the Lei Family Fortress be in Four Rivers City?” Su Muyu asked.
This was the question Lei Bao least wanted to hear. He growled: “What’s it to you!”
“I once had the pleasure of drinking with a hero from the Lei Family Fortress named Lei Qianting,” Su Muyu said calmly.
“What?” Lei Bao’s eyes widened. Lei Qianting was famous within the Lei Family Fortress, far beyond the status of an expelled branch family member like himself. For this person to have shared drinks with Lei Qianting… “Who are you!”
“Weren’t you just calling my name?” Su Muyu smiled helplessly. “I’m standing right in front of you.”
Lei Bao froze, then suddenly understood: “You’re Zhuo Yue’an!”
“Yes. Weren’t you trying to capture me?” Su Muyu said slowly.
Lei Bao swallowed, then suddenly shouted: “Brothers!”
“Here!” His followers drew their blades.
“Run!” Lei Bao turned and fled first!
This monster who could defeat the Lecture Hall’s elder without drawing his sword and even force the death of the previous Wushuang City lord – how could mere local thugs like them hope to fight him? Don’t be ridiculous!
