At the Morning Visitor Inn.
Su Changhe looked at the spotlessly clean room and smiled: “This fellow Su Muyu, finally gets to live a few days as an ordinary person, yet he makes it so hard on himself.”
Bai Hehuai set down her medicine box and sat on a nearby stool: “Perhaps he doesn’t find it difficult at all, but rather enjoys it.”
“You have a point. Our Su Muyu is such an excellent man, if we were to take him home as a son-in-law, he’d surely be gentle and considerate, and handle all the household chores too. Though he has no talent for making money, wouldn’t he be perfect for you?” Su Changhe said with a mischievous grin.
“Me? I’m greedy for wealth my whole life, and I only like men who can make big money.” Bai Hehuai rolled her eyes at Su Changhe.
“Oh, is that so?” Su Changhe smiled.
Bai Hehuai sighed softly: “Did my old father say something strange to you? Do you all think I won’t marry anyone but Su Muyu?”
Su Changhe raised his eyebrows: “Well, is that so?”
“Feelings between men and women shouldn’t be limited to romance alone. Perhaps during our time together recently, I did develop some fondness for Su Muyu, but fondness doesn’t have to turn into love – it can have many different endings. Besides, someone like Su Muyu, I always feel he won’t fall in love with anyone.” Bai Hehuai said slowly.
“You’re that certain?” Su Changhe pressed.
“When his brow finally relaxes completely, then let my father think about matters of romance.” Bai Hehuai smiled.
“You’re a good girl.” Su Changhe nodded gently.
“Tsk tsk tsk, being called a good girl by a scoundrel like you, I don’t know whether to be happy about that or not.” Bai Hehuai shrugged.
“Who’s there? Come in!” Su Changhe suddenly waved his hand, and the door burst open. A young man in black stood there, looking somewhat surprised: “As expected of the Dark River Family Head, to notice my arrival instantly.”
“Who are you?” Su Changhe asked in a deep voice.
“Shadow Sect, Crow.” Crow walked in carrying a sword, “Hearing that Family Head Su had entered the Imperial City, I came specially to meet you.”
“Where is Su Muyu!” Su Changhe roared, “He was supposed to meet me here, why isn’t he here!”
Bai Hehuai sat to the side, mentally rolling her eyes. She wanted to laugh but didn’t dare, so she just picked up her teacup and drank.
Crow sneered: “You want to see Su Muyu?”
“Of course! He is the Su Family Head, my Su Changhe’s best friend in life. Even if he’s lost his position as Family Head, I will never allow Su Muyu to suffer even the slightest harm. If you dare do anything to him, I’ll fight you to the death!” Su Changhe clenched his fists.
Crow’s eyes narrowed slightly, then he smiled: “Family Head, don’t be so tense. Su Muyu is currently a guest at the Shadow Sect headquarters, all is well, except…”
“Except what?” Su Changhe suddenly raised his brows, releasing a powerful killing intent that made all the doors and windows in the room rattle as if struck by a fierce wind.
Crow had recently faced off against Su Muyu and felt his extremely strong swordsmanship, but Su Muyu didn’t have such terrifying killing intent as Su Changhe. He took a small step back: “Except whether he remains a guest or becomes a host, or whether he changes from guest to prisoner, depends on the Family Head’s sincerity.”
“My sincerity?” Su Changhe sneered, “Trying to test my sincerity is both an insincere and dangerous thing to do.”
Facing Su Changhe’s sharp gaze, this time Crow didn’t retreat but stepped forward: “Isn’t what we do always the most dangerous thing in the world?”
“That’s true. I admire you.” Su Changhe withdrew his killing intent and picked up his teacup for a drink, “Speak directly, what do you want me to do?”
“We want the Family Head to take the King of Langya’s head.” Crow waved his hand, and all the doors and windows in the room were sealed shut at that moment.
“What?” Su Changhe crushed the teacup in his hand, “Do you know what you’re saying?”
“Isn’t Dark River capable of killing anyone? I’m just putting the most difficult person to kill in the world before you.” Crow turned around, “No need to give us an answer so quickly, think it through, then…”
“Then what?” Su Changhe’s voice suddenly turned ice-cold.
Crow’s entire body instantly froze, a drop of cold sweat falling from his forehead. He swallowed, looking ahead where only Bai Hehuai remained sitting alone. Su Changhe’s voice had come from behind him.
Then he felt a slight chill on his neck.
Crow didn’t dare turn around, afraid that if he did, his head would slide right off.
Su Changhe smiled and withdrew his dagger: “Don’t worry, I haven’t killed you. You’re still holding Su Muyu’s life in your hands, aren’t you? How would I dare kill you?”
“Family Head…” Crow’s face twitched slightly.
“Get out. Since Su Muyu is a guest, make sure to prepare him good food. He can’t eat spicy food, remember that.” Su Changhe patted Crow’s shoulder and walked back to Bai Hehuai’s side.
Bai Hehuai remembered the scene of Su Muyu eating spicy food in Qiantang City and couldn’t help wanting to laugh, but quickly suppressed it.
Because Crow still stood there, motionless.
“Why aren’t you leaving? Want to stay for dinner?” Su Changhe frowned slightly.
“Then I’ll take my leave.” Crow finally reacted and immediately pushed open the door to leave.
Su Changhe smiled and asked Bai Hehuai: “How was that? Was my performance just now acceptable?”
Bai Hehuai nodded with a smile: “The early acting was quite crude, but when you returned to your true nature at the end, it was brilliant. This Crow will surely describe what just happened in vivid detail when he returns.”
“Hahaha!” Su Changhe laughed heartily, “Only by mixing truth and falsehood can things appear true. Though just now, I wanted to kill him, almost couldn’t resist slicing his head off with one strike.”
Bai Hehuai took a sip of water: “Good thing you held back.”
“Let it be so.” Su Changhe sat down, “I hope they don’t mistreat our little wooden fish.”
“Then about what he said, what do you plan to do?” Bai Hehuai frowned slightly, “Though I don’t care about court affairs, the name of the King of Langya is too prominent. The Shadow Sect planned for so long, so this was their goal – to kill him. But killing him would throw the world into chaos.”
“Naturally, I must go meet him.” Su Changhe lightly turned the dagger in his hand, “They say Dark River can kill anyone, I’d like to test just how difficult the most difficult person to kill in the world is to kill.”
“Have you gone mad?” Bai Hehuai exclaimed.
“I’ve always been mad.” Su Changhe licked his lips.
