Chapter 344: Tearing Sound

“You’re dismissed. What’s happening inside?” she asked.

“This official was ordered to treat State Preceptor Yun’s wounds and change his bandages,” the Imperial Physician said, his face still showing signs of anger. “But the patient refuses to cooperate!”

Yun Ya wouldn’t let him change the bandages? Feng Miaojun thought for a moment, then smiled: “I understand. Just leave him be. You may go.”

After the Imperial Physician withdrew, Feng Miaojun was led by an attendant into the patient’s bedchamber. This was the finest room in all of Lanxiu Garden—bright and airy, with a gentle breeze flowing through, and a meticulously maintained garden just outside the windows and doors.

Even the bedchamber was divided into outer and inner rooms. Since Yun Ya was injured all over his body and needed bed rest, he naturally rested in the inner chamber.

As Feng Miaojun entered, someone immediately brought her an embroidered stool, which she placed beside the bed and sat down.

A gauze curtain hung before the bed. She could vaguely see the figure inside, and of course, Yun Ya inside likewise knew someone had arrived. He complained: “It’s already high noon, and you’re only coming now!”

He had been waiting for her since early morning. Lying in bed was truly boring beyond words!

“I still have a kingdom to govern,” Feng Miaojun was quite familiar with his sudden childish temper and took no offense. The attending servant who came forward to lift the gauze curtain for them was startled by this exchange. “You wouldn’t let the Imperial Physician approach—is it because your injuries are almost healed?”

With Fu Lingchuan and Xu Guangxiang absent, she didn’t bother maintaining formalities.

“I feared he might add something extra to my treatment,” Yun Ya said languidly as he sat up. “If my recovery were delayed for another month or two, it would be too much trouble for Your Majesty.”

Feng Miaojun sensed his difficulty in moving; it seemed his injuries had indeed not yet healed. “Royal Physician Wang is upright. He wouldn’t harm you deliberately.”

Yun Ya made a noncommittal sound, neither agreeing nor disagreeing. There were too many people here who disliked him—who knew if the Imperial Physician had been sent by Fu Lingchuan and others?

Feng Miaojun couldn’t be bothered with this concern. If he didn’t want to use the Imperial Physician, then so be it. It wasn’t as if he had no one around him. She stood up: “You seem to be in good spirits. Your recovery is imminent. I should first…”

“The wound hurts,” he pouted, giving her a pitiful expression. “And it’s getting itchier.” Was this heartless girl planning to leave after barely exchanging a few words?

“Who helped you tend to your wounds yesterday?” Whether it was Xu Guangxiang or someone else, that person could come again.

“I roughly bandaged it myself,” he said dejectedly. “If I had waited for others to come slowly to my rescue, I fear I would have already died from blood loss.”

She sincerely doubted this. This fellow had fought three fire spirits alone in the underground sea of fire and survived; how could a mere explosion take his life? However, as he was now an envoy representing the Wei Kingdom, she couldn’t speak harshly to him and merely said: “Since State Preceptor Yun doesn’t trust New Xia’s Imperial Physicians, then you should change the bandages yourself, or perhaps someone among your numerous attendants could help.” She coughed lightly. “General Xu would probably be willing.”

“She’s not in the residence at the moment,” Yun Ya said softly. “The wound on my side needs delicate cleaning. I can’t do it myself.”

His complexion was indeed pale, his thin lips bloodless. His dark hair fell across his snow-white undergarment, unable to hide half of his elegant collarbone. His collar was open, revealing a glimpse of firm skin.

His alluring appearance presented a pitiful sight that could move one’s heart.

Feng Miaojun averted her gaze, very much wanting to leave, but her legs remained rooted to the spot, not moving an inch.

She looked at him for quite a while, seemingly lost in thought.

Yun Ya gazed back at her with his peach-blossom eyes, completely unabashed.

Feng Miaojun suddenly recalled their meeting in the garden pavilion several days ago, which had ended with his angry departure. And now? Was he still angry? At least from outward appearances, there was no sign of it.

She blinked twice and sighed softly: “You fear the Imperial Physician but not me?” In terms of ruthlessness, her level should be higher than the Imperial Physician’s, right?

“Would you have the heart?” His eyes flickered with what seemed like infinite affection.

She smiled faintly: “I don’t want to bring trouble upon myself.” She was the person who least wanted anything to happen to him.

He said softly: “I’m no trouble.”

She couldn’t help herself and, most unladylike, rolled her eyes skyward: “Fine, let me see the wound.”

He tried to remove his clothes but groaned softly when he moved his arm.

He was acting quite convincingly. Feng Miaojun rose and walked to the edge of the bed, bending down. Her fingertips had not yet touched him when Yun Ya reminded her: “Lower the gauze curtain.”

That would separate the two of them from the outside world—too intimate and improper according to etiquette. She hesitated slightly, and Yun Ya said quietly: “My body cannot be seen by others.” There were still three or four servants standing around.

Good heavens—Feng Miaojun felt numb from her fingertips to her scalp.

Should she also express gratitude for Yun Ya allowing her to admire his precious jade-like body?

Not only could she look, but she could also touch.

She quickly shook her head to drive away this intrusive, strange thought, and then instructed the palace attendants nearby: “Bring a basin of clean water, and boil several kettles more for standby.”

She poured some strong alcohol on her hands to disinfect them, then washed them in the nearby golden basin. By then, the palace attendants had also brought the clear water.

After they set it down, Feng Miaojun instructed: “Lower the curtain.”

The handmaid who had been following behind her became anxious: “Your Majesty, this—this is improper!” For the Queen of New Xia to personally treat the Wei Kingdom’s State Preceptor, not only having physical contact but also lowering the gauze curtain to conceal from others—such intimacy was truly inappropriate!

“Oh?” Feng Miaojun glanced at her with an ambiguous smile. “Shall I do it myself?”

Did she need the approval of a mere handmaid to do anything? Of course, she also knew this person was Fu Lingchuan’s spy.

The handmaid choked on her words and could only quickly step forward to lower the gauze curtain. Through it, she saw the Queen removing her outer robe, revealing her slender waist, and making her petite figure appear even more delicate. Through the hazy curtain, there was a most alluring quality about her.

Even as a woman, the handmaid swallowed hard—not to mention the foreign State Preceptor inside the curtain. This was truly inappropriate, wasn’t it?

But she dared not speak again.

Seeing Feng Miaojun undress without hesitation, Yun Ya’s Adam’s apple instinctively moved as he stared intently. Unfortunately, she stopped after removing just her outer robe, making him sigh in regret.

Feng Miaojun’s hand, which was in the process of rolling up her sleeve, paused inexplicably.

The wide sleeves she wore today would get in the way of her work, so she simply removed the outer garment. The dress underneath had tight cuffs, which was quite convenient. Seeing this, Yun Ya smiled. This was a habit she had developed when she was by his side—the young girl loved beauty and often changed various styles. A simple extension of her wrist revealed endless charm. He hadn’t expected her to maintain this habit until now.

Feng Miaojun paid no attention to what he was thinking and moved closer, saying: “I hope you have spare clothes.” Then she grabbed his collar.

With a crisp “ripping” sound, she tore his undergarment in half.

Yun Ya blushed: “Are—are you that eager?” How violent!

Feng Miaojun snorted: “Who has the patience to undress you properly?” Blood scabs had stuck to his undergarment, making it troublesome to remove, so it was simpler to tear it off. Now looking at his injuries, she couldn’t help but raise her delicate eyebrows. She had seen many explosion wounds in the army and wasn’t particularly concerned. Yun Ya’s injuries did appear somewhat frightening at first glance, with yellow fluid seeping from the exposed red flesh. But in her view, this fellow had only suffered some external wounds and would recover in a few days.
