Chapter 573: Yun Ya’s World

She waited until most of the black shadows had passed before turning around and following them at the rear.

These fellows hadn’t sneaked into Yun Ya’s sea of consciousness just for sightseeing, so she might as well hitch a ride.

Every few intersections, black shadows would appear and join in. Soon, this group expanded to two or three hundred.

Feng Miaojun discovered that these things had very clear objectives as if receiving guidance from ahead, never hesitating when choosing directions at each crossroad.

While following them, she paid attention to the shadows around her. Upon careful observation, no two shadows had identical appearances, which was quite similar to humans. Moreover, the more solid their forms, the closer their appearances resembled normal humans, no longer having claws, fangs, scales, or demon-like physical characteristics.

What did this suggest?

While pondering, the group passed through dozens of intersections. Sharp screams came from ahead, rising and falling. The black shadows at the front of the group immediately responded with shrieks of their own while quickening their pace.

Despite having mentally prepared herself, after turning two corners, Feng Miaojun still drew in a cold breath at the scene before her:

This was still the labyrinth, but a large hole had been corroded into the wall. Black shadows rushed in from all directions, plunged into the hole, and disappeared.

Was this the exit from the labyrinth?

Feng Miaojun was somewhat surprised. She could see that this large hole was less of an exit and more of a breach—these monsters had broken open a path in Yun Ya’s defensive labyrinth.

Needless to say, what lay beyond the hole was the completely undefended sea of consciousness!

With her excellent eyesight, she could also notice that the hole was constantly writhing as if the labyrinth was trying to repair itself. But countless black smoke lingered around the breach, ceaselessly corroding it, preventing it from closing.

Among the black shadows, a voice echoed repeatedly:

“Hurry, his bodily functions are already recovering. We don’t have much time!”

Without a doubt, “he” referred to Yun Ya.

It was Feng Miaojun’s turn. With a quick step, like countless other black shadows, she unhesitatingly passed through the black hole.

Before her eyes were pitch dark, and her body suddenly felt a sense of falling.

Logically, since she was now in soul form, she shouldn’t be able to feel her weight in the sea of consciousness world. Yet the gravity she now experienced was at least ten times that of the mortal world!

Feng Miaojun was completely unprepared. Her body was dragged down two zhang before her fingertips instinctively dug into the ice wall, finally stopping her descent.

Many black shadows that had crossed over at the same time were caught off guard, with no time to stabilize their forms before being dragged into the bottomless abyss below!

Wait, ice?

Clinging firmly to the rough surface of the huge rock like a gecko, she looked around, and once again couldn’t help but admire Yun Ya’s devious mind—

Besides him, probably no one would set the entrance to a labyrinth inside an abyss. And not just anywhere, but at a halfway point where one could neither go up nor down. Outsiders would walk in parallel through the labyrinth, only to vertically plummet into the abyss with their next step. Just this disorientation would leave most people unable to react in time.

The surrounding ice walls were as vertical as if cut by a knife, their thickness unknown. Logically, the color of ice and snow should be pure white, but all she could see was a grayish-black expanse that seemed to be wriggling upwards.

Feng Miaojun looked more carefully and couldn’t help but feel her scalp tingle: it was black shadow after black shadow clinging to the ice surface, like ants swarming out of their nest, densely covering every corner of the ice abyss!

Black shadows endlessly poured in from the breach in the labyrinth. Countless fell into the abyss, yet enough remained to completely cover the cliffs.

With so many evil creatures, it would be a miracle if Yun Ya could handle them!

Feng Miaojun cursed silently and climbed upward through any gap she could find, trampling countless black shadows along the way. Others weren’t of good temper either, about to curse at her, but after looking up at her, most swallowed their discontent.

She guessed it was because her soul body was darker in color. The longer she stayed among these black shadows, the more she discovered that these strange creatures had distinct hierarchies, much like humans.

It took her thirty to forty breaths to climb to the top of the cliff. Standing firm and looking up, she was stunned.

This was her first glimpse of someone else’s sea of consciousness, and it was a world of ice and snow. The ground’s original color couldn’t be seen, frost hung from the trees, and fine snow fell from the sky.

Yun Ya’s world didn’t have even a trace of greenery.

Only after climbing up the cliff and looking back did she realize that the “abyss” at her feet was a huge crater. A waterfall should have cascaded down from the edge of the crater, but in this weather, it had frozen into an ice fall. That was solidified water, adhering to both the upstream and the vertical walls of the abyss.

Mountains and huge rocks were everywhere. Ice, snow, and stone together constructed a world without any warmth.

Under normal circumstances, Feng Miaojun would have been amazed at this sudden sight. The sea of consciousness exists in the brain of every intelligent being, but in ordinary people’s seas of consciousness, there is only chaos. Only after embarking on the path of cultivation could one possibly open up a vast ocean there, truly deserving the name “sea of consciousness.”

To further develop land in that vast ocean required exceptionally high cultivation; to create life in the sea of consciousness was something only immortals could accomplish.

Although Yun Ya’s world appeared cold, the mountains were covered with forests, and she even spotted lichen in the snow.

These were indeed forms of life. Given that the upward passage had been closed, Yun Ya had still managed to advance even further, going beyond anyone else. How remarkable was that?

But she had no time to admire now; there were too many monsters around. After climbing up from the abyss, they seemed guided, silently heading toward the mountain peak—

Not far away, the most majestic mountain peak soared into the clouds. The monsters climbed to the mountaintop at the fastest speed, then leaped off, their bodies transforming back into gray mist, rapidly floating toward the center of the sky!

During this process, the gray mist would continuously be torn apart and dispersed, becoming increasingly thin. If one were alone, it would be like a drop of water falling into the desert, disappearing in an instant.

However, a huge black cloud had already formed in the sky.

As more and more black smoke monsters joined, it grew as thick as a well-kneaded ball of dough, becoming increasingly heavy, seeming as if it would drop to the ground at any moment.

The sight was truly magnificent, and Feng Miaojun drew in a soft breath. These monsters surely weren’t stacking themselves up for fun; there must be a reason for such a grand display.

Then, she saw the golden edges gilding the dark cloud.

There was a sun in the sky.

Could it be that what these black shadow monsters were desperately trying to block was sunlight? Otherwise, with nothing in the sky and open ground below, why would they go to such trouble?
