Chapter 51: Don’t Stay With Her

Standing at the prison cell door while dragging along the jailer, Feng Yue suddenly felt an otherworldly wind blow from inside, sending a shiver down her spine.

Looking back, she saw nothing unusual. She shook her head and continued smiling at the jailer beside her: “Officer, please eat more. I made these myself.”

Mesmerized by her overwhelming beauty, the jailer grinned stupidly, his eyes fixed on her as he stuffed pastries into his mouth.

When Yin Gezhi came out, this was the scene he witnessed—a fool and an enchantress gazing at each other.

“Young Master,” Feng Yue smiled and curtsied upon seeing him emerge.

Giving her a cursory glance, Yin Gezhi grabbed her and started walking, his expression impassive as he said, “We’re done here. Go wait for Shi Chong outside.”

“Ah, alright. But…” stumbling along behind him, Feng Yue forced a smile through gritted teeth, “Your servant isn’t a kite—you can’t make me fly by pulling so hard. Why not let me walk on my own?”

“You walk too slowly.”

Slow? Feng Yue felt indignant. Abandoning her delicate steps, she lifted her skirts and sprinted ahead, disappearing in an instant. “Who’s slow now!”

The wind she stirred up made Yin Gezhi’s black hair flutter. The Crown Prince, in a good mood after completing his task, glanced at the shadow ahead and took a deep breath. In a flash, he pursued her.

“Quite the runner.”

His cool voice, like ice, carried a hint of disdain as it struck the sprinting Feng Yue’s head with a metaphorical “bang.”

She turned her head in surprise to see him running beside her, his robes flowing gracefully as he cast her a sidelong glance: “Was that swaying walk of yours just an act?”

Feng Yue grinned against the wind: “How could it be an act? There are proper ways to do everything at different times. I simply follow the rules.”

“Is that so? Then you don’t need to run so fast now.”

“Your servant isn’t running—I’m just walking quickly! Could it be Young Master lacks the stamina to keep up? If so, I could support… I mean, I could help you walk.”

Yin Gezhi pressed his lips together, gave her a look, and actually extended his hand. His long fingers with slightly rough palms caught her attention, making her heart flutter.

To hold his hand…

He yanked her along!

Without another word, she grabbed him and tried to run faster, hoping to make him stumble or something!

However, reality proved she was too naive. As soon as he caught her hand, a cold smile flashed in Yin Gezhi’s eyes. Then he stopped hiding his true ability and accelerated, dragging her along like a streak of beautiful dust.

An Shi Chong was waiting at the side gate when he suddenly sensed something bursting through.

“Make way!” Pulling his attendant aside and waving away the clouds of dust, An Shi Chong frowned as he looked in the direction of the rolling dust: “What happened?”

The sharp-eyed attendant replied in shock: “Young Lord Yin was pulling along a maid… running, eloping?”

They had agreed to meet at the side gate, and he’d run off privately—it could indeed be called eloping. But something felt off. An Shi Chong stroked his chin, pondered for a moment, then said: “Never mind. It seems Master has some urgent business. Let’s go.”

“Yes.”

The late March breeze gently caressed the willow-lined shore. By the murmuring river, beneath the swaying willows, in this picturesque scene, a black-clad young man stood tall, looking kindly at the young woman sprawled on the ground: “Tired?”

Obviously! She was lying there panting—how could she not be tired? Feng Yue was so angry she could grind her teeth to dust. Trembling as she fixed her disheveled hair, she took a deep breath before looking up with a smile: “Not tired.”

Yin Gezhi nodded in apparent understanding: “Then shall we walk some more?”

“You can go by yourself.” Feng Yue clenched her fists and forced a smile: “I’d like to enjoy the scenery.”

Leaning against a willow tree, Yin Gezhi said: “Those who refuse to yield often end up with broken bones.”

He was teasing her—clearly exhausted, she could have just acted coquettishly and been done with it, yet she insisted on being stubborn.

However, as it happened, Feng Yue was someone who had experienced broken bones before. Hearing these words, her expression changed instantly, hatred flashing in her eyes so fiercely it startled Yin Gezhi.

“What’s wrong?”

Can’t expose myself, Feng Yue thought, taking a deep breath and gradually calming herself. Don’t get too excited—what he said makes sense. It was precisely because she wouldn’t yield that her hands had become what they were now.

Stiffly averting her gaze, she noticed movement behind them. Feng Yue quickly seized the opportunity to say resentfully: “Someone’s being beaten! In broad daylight—how outrageous!”

Still shocked by her earlier expression, Yin Gezhi studied her for a while before turning to look in the direction she pointed.

Indeed, someone was being beaten. It appeared to be a farmer, wielding a carrying pole and furiously striking a young woman. Many onlookers had gathered around, trying to pull them apart.

The young woman was already bleeding from her head, looking pitiful. Yet the farmer remained unsatisfied and wanted to continue beating her.

A common brawl among civilians held no interest for Yin Gezhi, and Feng Yue had no energy to meddle in others’ affairs—she just wanted to divert his attention from her inappropriate reaction earlier.

However, just as Feng Yue was getting up to change the subject, a clear female voice pierced through the riverbank: “Stop!”

The voice was incredibly familiar, drawing Yin Gezhi’s attention back to the scene.

Yi Zhang Zhu rushed into the crowd with her maid, looked at the bleeding woman, then at the violent farmer, and shouted angrily: “Is there no law anymore? Are you trying to murder in broad daylight?”

The crowd was startled, looking her up and down. Seeing her expensive clothes, they all fell silent.

The bleeding woman immediately hid behind Yi Zhang Zhu, sobbing: “Help me!”

Well, now that the great Bodhisattva Yi had arrived, how could she not help? Feng Yue thought this matter was already settled, but when she turned her head, the person beside her had vanished.

Looking again—well, there he was, walking toward the young lady, his legs showing no sign of fatigue from their earlier run.

Feng Yue narrowed her eyes, folding her arms as she watched him approach Yi Zhang Zhu from behind, his tone gentler than ever: “Zhang Zhu, why are you here?”

Yi Zhang Zhu, who had been ready to uphold justice, smiled upon seeing him and quickly pulled him over: “I was just passing by and saw the commotion, so I came to look.”

She then turned to the farmer: “What are you doing?”

The farmer’s eyes were full of grievance as he glared at the woman behind her: “This is my newly wedded wife. She caused my sixty-year-old mother to die in her sickbed! I was taking her to see the magistrate when she said my mother was just wasting food by being alive and deserved to die! That’s why I struck her…”

The crowd was shocked, but Yi Zhang Zhu frowned: “Even if she’s wrong, you can’t resort to violence. Besides, why would she harm your mother? How can you take her to the authorities without getting to the bottom of this? You’re husband and wife!”

Listening to this, Feng Yue couldn’t help but twitch her mouth.

Yin Gezhi, however, remained composed, showing no sign that Yi Zhang Zhu’s words were inappropriate. Instead, he stood behind her like a protective guardian.

With him present, Yi Zhang Zhu grew more confident. She frowned at the farmer: “Besides, your mother is already gone—do you want to lose a wife too? How can you behave like this? Family matters should be resolved at home. What kind of behavior is this, beating someone in the street?”

“That’s right, what kind of man beats a woman?” The onlookers chimed in, while the woman hiding behind them cried more pitifully: “His mother was already bedridden, couldn’t speak or move, and needed help with everything including using the bathroom and eating. We barely had enough food at home, how could we afford to…”

Yi Zhang Zhu turned to scold her: “Even so, you shouldn’t have done this. Don’t ever do something like this again!”

The woman sobbed and nodded.

Now this was truly eye-opening! Feng Yue clicked her tongue, thinking if the farmer had beaten this woman to death, would her family be unable to press charges? After all, having lost a daughter, they surely couldn’t lose a son-in-law too.

Was there something different about the brains of young ladies raised in wealthy households compared to someone like her who ate yellow sand? The farmer was wrong to beat someone, but that woman was more vicious—yet instead of taking her to the authorities, they wanted the grieving farmer to forgive her.

Seeing both parties fall silent, Yi Zhang Zhu felt the matter was resolved. She cast a benevolent look around, about to send the couple home, when she noticed a maid-like figure standing in the distance, rolling her eyes. The figure looked somewhat familiar.

“Miss Feng Yue?”

Having been spotted, Feng Yue immediately placed her hands at her waist and bowed: “Miss Yi.”

Yin Gezhi gave her a glance, his eyes showing disdain, but still followed Yi Zhang Zhu to stand before her, looking down at her affected posture.

“Why are you here too?” Yi Zhang Zhu looked her up and down in surprise: “Have you reformed?”

Thinking of Sun Li, Feng Yue gave a stiff smile, glanced at Yin Gezhi, and remained silent.

Yin Gezhi said flatly: “My household needed a cook, and she often helps out.”

He redeemed her? Yi Zhang Zhu frowned, suddenly feeling very uncomfortable. She glanced at Feng Yue, then pulled Yin Gezhi aside and whispered: “Brother Yin, if you need a cook, why her? Anyone would do!”

“She cooks well.”

“The cook in my household must be better than her!” Yi Zhang Zhu stamped her foot: “I don’t like her much, Brother Yin. Don’t get too close to her.”

“Oh?” Looking back at Feng Yue, Yin Gezhi asked with interest: “What don’t you like about her?”

Frowning deeply, Yi Zhang Zhu said: “She’s bewitching and improper, likes to seduce men, and has no sense of shame. Having someone like her in your household will only bring you disgrace.”

His eyes flickered slightly, but Yin Gezhi remained silent.

She could guess what they were whispering about just from their expressions. Feng Yue smirked, suddenly interested. She adjusted her neckline, tightened her waist sash, then sashayed over to Yin Gezhi’s side, her voice taking on a flirtatious lilt: “Young Master~ Shouldn’t we head back to the manor? Your servant still needs to properly serve you tonight.”

At these words, Yi Zhang Zhu’s face immediately turned ashen. She glared at Feng Yue as if looking at a monster.
