Stunned by her words, Yin Gezhi didn’t know how to respond and could only watch coldly as she walked toward the courtyard gate.
“Miss, where are you going?” Guanzhi, entering with dishes, ran into her and was startled by her expression.
“Are your hands steady enough to hold those dishes?” Stopping her steps, Feng Yue asked with a strained smile.
Guanzhi nodded: “Very steady, I won’t spill anything!”
“Good.” Nodding, Feng Yue reached out with both bandaged hands, grabbed his belt, and methodically untied it. Then, she bit his outer robe and pulled!
“Hey, hey, hey!” Guanzhi was dumbfounded but instinctively helped her remove his outer robe. “Miss?”
“Thanks.” Flashing him with a grimacing smile, Feng Yue wrapped herself in the clothes and calmly walked out of the courtyard gate.
Looking down at himself, then at the alluring figure haphazardly wrapped in men’s robes, Guanzhi was completely bewildered.
Entering the main room with a puzzled expression, he saw his master’s face dark as water, his eyes full of fury.
“What happened?” Putting down the dishes, Guanzhi asked, “Did you scold her again?”
“I scolded her?” Yin Gezhi sneered, his facial features hard as iron. “She behaves so inappropriately, and I can’t even say anything?”
“Master,” sighing, Guanzhi advised, “You can say something, but your words are always direct and hurtful. Miss Feng Yue got up early to teach me how to cook for you. Look, these are all your favorites.”
Four small dishes and a bowl of mung bean porridge, completely different from Guanzhi’s previous cooking. He hadn’t paid attention earlier, but looking now, he felt hungry.
“Did you tell her to make these?” The corner of his mouth twitched as Yin Gezhi asked sideways.
Guanzhi shook his head: “I didn’t say anything. Miss Feng Yue suggested these dishes herself.”
His hand holding the chopsticks paused as Yin Gezhi narrowed his eyes.
She did know him well.
Slowly enjoying his breakfast, Yin Gezhi’s brow smoothed, and his mood unusually improved.
“Send some gifts to Menghui Tower,” Looking with disdain at the leftover food on the table, Yin Gezhi said, “She did spend a night here after all. Not giving anything would make me seem petty.”
“Yes.” Guanzhi bowed.
At Menghui Tower.
Just as Feng Yue crawled through the dog hole, she saw a pair of male legs before her—a pair of male legs with trousers pooled around the ankles.
“Ah!”
Seeing Feng Yue, the woman with the man screamed, startling him into shuddering and stepping back several paces while holding her.
“What are you doing!” Recognizing her, Duanxian angrily shouted.
Looking up at the sun hanging in the sky, then at the embracing couple before her, Feng Yue stood up and covered her smile: “Sorry to interrupt.”
Then she rushed into the building wrapped in her borrowed clothes.
Duanxian gritted her teeth, glaring viciously at her retreating figure, then bit her lip and looked at the man before her: “My lord, shall we continue?”
How could they continue now? Pushing her away, the fleshy-faced guest pulled up his trousers, looking several times in the direction Feng Yue had run: “Who was that?”
“A new girl who just hung her placard,” Resentful in her heart, Duanxian’s words were naturally unkind as she adjusted her clothes, “The one who stripped naked and danced her way into someone’s arms.”
“Oh?” The guest became interested: “She is quite striking.”
He started walking toward the building.
Duanxian panicked. This guest was generous—how could she let him get away like this?
“My lord!” Softly clinging to him, Duanxian said, “You haven’t had enough fun with me yet. We can deal with her later, she won’t run away.”
Feeling the softness against his back, the guest stopped his steps. After thinking for a moment, he decided to press this enchantress against the artificial mountain first.
Having barely changed clothes and caught her breath, Feng Yue hadn’t even had time to lie down when the door was kicked open with a bang.
Lingshun frowned, looking at Duanxian standing in the doorway, and said unhappily: “What are you charging in here for, miss?”
“What am I doing?” Duanxian smiled insincerely, raising her wrist to stroke the gold bracelet there, looking sideways at Feng Yue: “I’m not doing anything, just wanted to ask Miss Feng Yue if this bracelet looks nice?”
Calmly sitting down on the couch, Feng Yue smiled and nodded: “It’s beautiful, gleaming and radiant. Very valuable.”
This calm attitude was more infuriating than anything! Duanxian gritted her teeth in anger: “No matter how beautiful, it’s mine. If anyone tries various ways to steal it, don’t blame me for being unpleasant!”
“Who wants your bracelet?” Lingshun said unhappily, “My mistress doesn’t lack for such things.”
“Does your mistress have any?” Glancing at Lingshun, Duanxian snorted, “A base thing like her, what noble person would favor her? Don’t think you’re special just because someone booked you exclusively. If the rewards are too small, you won’t even have enough for your coffin!”
“Thank you for the reminder,” Feng Yue straightened her expression, looking serious, “I’ll make sure to save up for my coffin.”
Her junior-like attitude of accepting guidance made Duanxian even angrier, but she couldn’t think of any more insults. She could only storm downstairs in a huff.
Several girls who had risen early sat in the hall downstairs. As soon as Duanxian came down, they gathered to whisper, occasionally glancing up at Feng Yue’s room.
“Mistress!” Lingshun was too innocent to bear the anger, stamping her foot, “How can they bully people like this?”
Feng Yue liked Lingshun. She beckoned: “Come here, good girl.”
As the bright-eyed little maid came close, Feng Yue raised her stiff hands to tease her: “Those who bully others are bad girls. We’ll ignore them! Later I’ll give you money to buy mung bean cakes, and we’ll eat them in secret, okay?”
Lingshun bit her lip, her big eyes watery: “That sounds good, but mistress, I just fixed my hair! You’re messing it up by petting me like this!”
Giggling, Feng Yue didn’t stop, acting like a big bad wolf: “It’s not messy, not messy. Lingshun looks good no matter what.”
She even rubbed her chin against the girl’s hair bun.
Lingshun squealed and bounced around the room, finally forgetting her earlier unhappiness. Feng Yue watched her with a smile, her gaze quite loving.
“Feng Yue!” Madam Jin’s shout traveled from Menghui Tower’s main entrance straight to Feng Yue’s door, her voice so loud it seemed to pierce the clouds, nearly making Feng Yue roll off the couch.
“Come down quickly!”
Everyone in the building heard this voice, and the gossiping girls in the hall stretched their necks gleefully.
What trouble had she gotten into now?
Holding up her arms, Feng Yue’s heart pounded as she went downstairs, afraid someone had stabbed her in the back.
However, at the entrance, she saw Madam Jin’s face blooming like a chrysanthemum: “Quick, come thank our guest!”
What? Feng Yue turned her head to see Guanzhi standing at the door smiling at her, wearing his sword on his back, with four loads of gift boxes beside him.
Four loads?!
The poles were tied with red silk, looking just like betrothal gifts. The brocade boxes were packed full—among common people, this would indeed be the standard for a betrothal gift!
