Chapter 1062: Blood Dyes the Southern Region

Ye Fan was maddened with rage. His gaze was terrifying, his fury beyond all bounds. At the critical moment, everything fell to ruin — the Northern Emperor had charged in at precisely this moment, throwing the battle into chaos.

Both human in origin, Wang Teng had not come to offer aid — he came for vengeance. He drove his war chariot directly into the Black Emperor’s great formation, assisted the Eight Divisions of Divine Generals, and reversed the tide of battle. Dongfang Ye and the others could have torn him to pieces.

Pff!

Ye Fan swung his arm, sweeping his dark-gold long spear in a wide arc. Before him, a mass of ancient clan heads flew skyward. The razor-sharp spear tip was like a blade’s edge — brilliant and piercing — slicing across countless throats.

Countless heads flew up trailing flowers of blood. Crimson stained the long sky. Ye Fan fought with all his might, battling furiously in all directions, contending against the Eight Divisions of Divine Generals. Where he passed, fierce winds howled and blood rain poured down.

At this moment, everything had changed. The three ancient imperial sons now moved to block him — rather than him blocking those three and preventing them from going to give aid!

“Kill!”

Ye Fan’s eyes had gone red with slaughter. He voiced the Om syllable as a great Dao-shout, which transformed into a savage, expanding wave — flooding past like a torrent of heaven-sweeping water.

This was a great killing technique, delivering indiscriminate attacks upon all in range, sweeping across heaven and earth. Great Dao markings spread outward. Body after body fell, suspended in the air.

Pff!

Ye Fan raised his head and let out a long roar. His Dao-voice surged to a terrifying new height. The dense, swarming Eight Divisions of Divine Generals — who had come charging at him — tumbled down in masses, then burst apart, becoming clots of blood mist.

In every direction, the corpses of the Eight Divisions of Divine Generals lay strewn about, falling in swaths like grain being harvested, then shattering. The sky was filled with severed limbs, fragments of bone, and blood.

This was a world soaked in blood — a scene of absolute devastation. Ye Fan had slaughtered his way into madness, pressing forward with every technique available, because the Monkey far off was in desperate straits.

The Sacred Imperial Son had been fighting to this point. His blood-energy was nearly exhausted, his position perilous. He was surrounded by the Heavenly Imperial Son, several Half-Sages, and now Wang Teng driving his golden ancient war chariot in a full charge — he could fall at any moment.

In the Sacred Imperial Son’s previous engagement, it had been a true life-or-death battle — entirely unlike the standoff between Ye Fan and Huang Xu Dao’s trio. Fought to this state, roughly seventy to eighty percent of his combat power had been drained, nearly running dry.

Eight Divisions of Divine Generals, several Half-Sages, Wang Teng, plus the peerless and invincible Heavenly Imperial Son all mounting a combined assault — even a true divine descendant would be hard-pressed to hold on!

On the other battlefield, the Black Emperor and the others were also in dire straits — fallen into a dangerous situation, because several Half-Sages among the spectators had finally lost their patience and charged in!

“Let the Divine Lady Furnace suppress and kill them!”

Blazing flames swept out to the heavens, fire-light turning half the sky red, bringing many of the ancient clan to a bitter end. The Divine Lady Furnace was a rare treasure among Sacred Artifacts — a weapon forged by the Eternal Universe Emperor for the patriarch of the human-desire Dao lineage, the Great Sage. Its destructive power was immense.

The furnace lid rang out with a clang, nearly swallowing a Half-Sage directly into its interior. He was set ablaze from head to toe, almost reduced to a lump of charcoal.

“Ahh…”

The battle was gruesome. Battle cries rang out everywhere. No small number of figures from the ancient clan had joined the fray — all powerful characters.

Boom!

Dongfang Ye struck. The wolf-fang great staff in his hand swept across the sky, sending the void collapsing — but alas, another Half-Sage had also brought a broken Sacred Artifact to fight back. The scene grew ever more ferocious.

Ye Fan’s fury blazed to the heavens. He wished he could kill his way across in an instant, but the Huo Qilin Cave siblings used every technique available to entangle him. Although he had slain many powerful members of the ancient clan, he simply could not break through quickly enough.

In the end, he let out a clear cry. His phenomenon deployed — soaring across the nine heavens!

This was a complex phenomenon, all intertwined, difficult to make out clearly — but its might was sufficient to crack the sky. Countless soldiers of the Eight Divisions of Divine Generals were killed and wounded, and anyone caught in its sweep was reduced to bone shards and blood.

Even the three ancient imperial sons were shaken away — they could not hold him back. Ye Fan broke free of the three’s pursuit. Above his head hung the dark-gold long spear; in his left hand he held a black arrow; with his right hand he formed the Six Paths Reincarnation Fist. He moved across heaven and earth, slaughtering his way toward the most intense point of battle.

Pff!

Holding the black arrow, he thrust it forward — piercing a Half-Sage through in the sky above. With a pff he burst into a clot of blood mist.

The battle had reached this stage. Life was cheaper than grass. Corpses everywhere. Blood everywhere. Ye Fan had gone mad with killing. He was worried something terrible might befall the Sacred Imperial Son.

“Wang Teng, come and meet your death!”

He was invincible in his advance. Anyone who stood in his path along the way was reduced to a paste of blood and flesh. The pent-up fury in his heart had become a heavenly blade that charged from his mouth — brilliant blade-light swept across ten thousand soldiers.

Had Wang Teng not arrived and used a Sacred Artifact to break through the Black Emperor’s great formation, the situation would never have reversed like this. The Heavenly Imperial Son would very likely have already lost his head!

Now the tide of battle had been completely overturned. The Eight Divisions of Divine Generals burst out like a flooded dike. The several Half-Sages broke free, instantly plunging the Sacred Imperial Son — who had held every advantage — into absolute peril.

Ye Fan’s killing intent surged. A great anger was bottled up inside him. He wished he could cut down Wang Teng, this source of disaster, in the very next instant. To be of the human race, yet to turn against his own kind at this moment, to assist the ancient clan, to change everything on the battlefield — his hatred ran to the extreme.

It was precisely because of this that the watching ancient clan could no longer restrain themselves. Several Half-Sages joined the fray. The situation was now dire to the utmost degree.

Ye Fan could not count how many bodies lay at his feet as he charged through the vast army. He had no idea how many he had killed. Where he passed, blood gushed and bones piled up without number.

“Not even three ancient imperial sons can stop me — who among you dares to make a move? After this battle, anyone who has raised a hand against us — even if they flee to the far reaches of the nine heavens — I will hunt down and kill them!”

The Monkey was in danger. Ye Fan roared like thunder, shaking the world, intimidating the ancient clan.

Yet his heart was very calm. His phenomenon deployed once more — divine forms and demonic figures stood towering, sweeping in all eight directions. The sky was filled with blood and shattered bone, and the enemies could not be killed no matter how many fell.

His roar had indeed cowed no small number — at the very least, fewer of the watching ancient clan joined the battle now. All were deeply wary. Seeing him invincible as a young demon king, with blood and carnage wherever he passed and none able to resist, a bone-deep fear gripped them.

Suddenly — as if a blade pressed against his back — a supreme killing intent manifested. A streak of sharp light drove straight for the back of Ye Fan’s head. Had it pierced through the Immortal Platform, even a human Sacred Body would have met its end.

Ye Fan wheeled sharply. The black arrow slashed out. A crisp ding rang out and resounded through the nine heavens.

In this battle of ten thousand forces, someone holding a precious treasure had matched him blow for blow, and had now appeared in his path to cut off his connection with the Sacred Imperial Son.

“You are also of the human race!” Ye Fan felt a chill in his heart. Though this person had the appearance of the ancient clan, when running their mysterious techniques, the offensive Dao-power they manifested carried the imprint and characteristics of the human race.

Moreover, this was a powerful human whose strength fell not much short of an ancient imperial son — one or two cuts above Wang Teng — and they now stood in Ye Fan’s path to block him. His gaze grew even colder. His battle-qi erupted wildly. He unleashed his most powerful strike.

Boom!

The person was sent flying, blood trickling from the corner of their mouth. Their expression was strange. There was no threat to their life. The killing light deep within their eyes faded. They retreated sideways and withdrew.

Ye Fan had no time to pursue. He drove straight toward where the Sacred Imperial Son was, striking like thunder, carving out a bright and open expanse. Blood and bone lay everywhere as he advanced, treading upon the corpses of many ancient clan members, until at last he arrived.

His earlier words had, however, provoked Huo Qizi. From a distance came a cold declaration: “You said that three ancient imperial sons cannot stop you — today I will engage you alone!”

On the other side, the Sacred Imperial Son had been fighting desperately to this point. He bore severe injuries. Several Half-Sages, Wang Teng driving the golden ancient war chariot, and the Heavenly Imperial Son with his peerless bloodline — all had surrounded and attacked together. He had staked his very life in a life-or-death confrontation, and his physical condition was very bleak.

The Sacred Imperial Son looked toward Ye Fan and said, “Perhaps it is time to leave.”

“You all go first. I can kill the Heavenly Imperial Son.” Ye Fan said in a low voice.

Then he swept his gaze to Wang Teng and the other person whose strength rivaled an ancient imperial son — his eyes were terrifying. His fury at these two surpassed even his hatred of the Heavenly Imperial Son.

Human race! At the critical moment, it was powerful human cultivators who had intervened. Two great experts had arrived, neither of whom had appeared in the world at any point in ordinary times, yet had made it here at precisely this moment.

Ye Fan’s gaze swept outward toward the distant onlookers. The many prestigious human sects and great orders of the Southern Region — not a single one had joined the battle. As his gaze swept over them, many lowered their heads.

As for people like Elder Li the Daoist, they had long since vanished — who knew where they had hidden themselves.

Unlike them, the ancient clan had people joining the battle from time to time, forming a stark contrast. In the distance, Li Heishui and Li Tian couldn’t help but feel a chill run through them and curse under their breath — only two human combatants had entered the battle, and both had attacked them.

Ye Fan withdrew his gaze. It was difficult to entirely blame the prestigious human sects of the Southern Region for this. Without a Half-Sage entering the fight, it would only be seeking death. They genuinely had no choice. In an age like this, everyone feared for their own safety, all seeking only self-preservation.

“Even if I’m left standing alone, I will kill you!” Ye Fan fixed his gaze on the Heavenly Imperial Son. His eyes burned with a frightening intensity that took on substance and shot outward, causing even several Half-Sages to involuntarily step back.

The Heavenly Imperial Son had been seriously wounded long since. Faced with this overwhelming force of will and killing intent, his heart seized, and a trickle of blood spilled from the corner of his mouth.

“A person capable of killing me has not yet been born — nor will ever come into this world. Today, you are the ones who will all die!” A tiger’s might does not diminish at death’s door. His position demanded no less — even with fear in his heart, the words from his mouth had to ring with iron resolve.

Among the ancient clan, one-fifth of the races were sympathetic to the human race. Watching humanity’s development over these many years had moved them deeply. Another fifth maintained a neutral stance. The remaining three-fifths were greatly hostile.

Now, Ye Fan had cowed some of the spectators — yet there were still those who wished to enter the battle and strike against them.

Boom!

Huo Qizi arrived. Both hands gripping the Fangtian Painted Halberd, he cleaved downward. This was a Sacred Artifact. The brilliant halberd blade was as vast as a door, trailing ten thousand Dao traces as it descended, suppressing Ye Fan.

Clang!

Ye Fan held the black arrow in his left hand to meet the blinding halberd blade, while his right hand formed the Six Paths Reincarnation Fist and drove it toward Huo Qizi’s forehead.

“Kill! Slaughter every last one of them!” The Heavenly Imperial Son commanded coldly.

The Eight Divisions of Divine Generals let out a unified roar. Their battle cry shattered countless great peaks. The entire Great Wilderness was nearly on the verge of collapse, reduced to a wasteland.

Within the Ji Family, an ordinary-looking young man heard the news and furrowed his brow. He rose and walked toward the door.

“You… are you going to take action?” asked one of the living fossils.

“Yes.” The young man’s words were simple and decisive.

The several living fossils did not object. They could not say much either. The outside world might not know this person’s identity — but they understood clearly. No one could sway his will.

This ordinarily silent and unremarkable young man suddenly stopped and turned around. He said: “The Void Great Emperor spent a lifetime yielding to none. He pacified the dark chaos, suppressed the Undying Mountain, battled the gods from beyond the domain, and never once retreated. Our Ji Family fears no one — neither in the past, nor in the present. As for certain matters… rest easy.”

On the battlefield in the Great Wilderness.

“Do you see? They dare not make a move at all — while my forces grow greater by the moment!” The Heavenly Imperial Son laughed coldly, sweeping his gaze across the human spectators before taunting Ye Fan.

Many human spectators of the Southern Region lowered their heads.

“Even against a thousand soldiers and ten thousand horses, I will take your head today!” Ye Fan’s gaze was razor-sharp. He looked toward the Heavenly Imperial Son, and at the same time struck out to break open Huo Qizi’s Fangtian Painted Halberd.

“Ahh…”

Suddenly, a cry of agony rang out. A Half-Sage of the ancient clan was struck by someone’s palm and shattered into four or five pieces, spraying divine blood across the long sky.

“Who is it?!” The Eight Divisions of Divine Generals immediately fell into great chaos.

A young man — looking wholly ordinary, the sort who would never be noticed if dropped into a crowd — appeared. He killed a Half-Sage with his bare hands and went straight for the Heavenly Imperial Son’s side.

His mastery of void techniques was miraculous beyond compare, impossible to guard against. With a sharp crack, his palm met the Heavenly Imperial Son’s in a full clash — and the latter coughed up great mouthfuls of blood and stumbled backward.
