Feng Jiu’er allowed herself one second to accept the reality before her, then immediately bent down and tore open Di Wu Ya’s garment with her teeth.
The sound of fabric being ripped apart echoed through the tent.
Feng Jiu’er tore away his clothing, took silver needles in hand, and administered acupuncture to the unconscious man to staunch the bleeding.
Had she not sealed several of his acupoints back then, he would certainly have died from excessive blood loss.
This man was too foolish — was he repaying her with a sword, or giving back his very life?
Feng Jiu’er had no words to express what she felt inside.
To have gravely wounded him with her own hands, to have witnessed her own mother being killed before her very eyes — all of it was too much to bear.
Right now, she could only rein in her emotions, clear her mind of everything else, and focus solely on saving him.
Before long, Yu Jingfeng arrived with the army physician. “Miss Jiu’er, how is His Highness the Crown Prince?”
“Have you brought the physician?” Feng Jiu’er kept her focus on administering acupuncture to Di Wu Ya without looking up.
“Yes, and I brought some medicine as well. As for the rest of it…”
Before Yu Jingfeng could finish, Feng Jiu’er pressed a slip of paper into his hand.
“Gather all the medicines listed there in the shortest possible time. I will teach you how to proceed.”
Feng Jiu’er could count herself fortunate — during the time she had spent waiting in the imperial city, unable to sleep, she had risen to research antidotes for that particular poison.
The antidote had been worked out in theory, but it had never been used in practice, so she had no way of knowing how effective it would be.
Now, with everything having come about so suddenly, she had no choice but to take the gamble.
“Very well — I will see to it personally.” Yu Jingfeng took the slip of paper and turned to leave.
“Old Yang, come with me to make preparations. The rest of you stay and await Miss Jiu’er’s orders.”
Yu Jingfeng had sustained no small number of wounds, his body marked with bloodstains — but at a time like this, how could he spare a moment’s thought for himself?
Di Wu Ya was his very life. As long as Di Wu Ya was safe, Yu Jingfeng would have torn out his own heart to heal him without a second thought.
“Yes, Official Yu.” The other army physicians all nodded and accepted the order.
Feng Jiu’er was undisturbed by anyone, continuing to tend to Di Wu Ya’s wound.
A full half-hour passed before she finished suturing Di Wu Ya’s wound, disinfecting it once more, and wrapping it with bandages.
Throughout this time, aside from one army physician who stepped forward to lend what little assistance he could, the other two stood motionless, awaiting their orders.
“You — come here.” Feng Jiu’er tied off the bandage and gestured.
“Yes, Miss Jiu’er.” The physician who had been standing close by nodded and came to Di Wu Ya’s side.
“Help His Highness the Crown Prince sit up,” Feng Jiu’er said calmly.
“Yes.” The physician nodded and reached out to support Di Wu Ya.
The other two army physicians, seeing this, immediately stepped forward to assist.
Two physicians, one on each side, helped Di Wu Ya to a sitting position.
Feng Jiu’er looked up at the three of them. “Whose acupuncture technique is the most skilled?”
“I will do it.” Mo Bai — who had returned from no one knew where — lifted the curtain and strode in.
Following behind him were Emperor Ji and Leng Yue.
Upon seeing Mo Bai enter, the remaining physicians immediately made room.
“Good.” Feng Jiu’er glanced toward the outside briefly before turning back and settling into a cross-legged position behind Di Wu Ya.
“I am going to channel my inner energy to treat Wuya’s injuries. You are responsible for administering the needles — insert them at the acupoints I specify. Do you understand?”
With Mo Bai present, Feng Jiu’er’s chances of success had increased considerably.
There was no time to spare — whether she could pull him back from the edge of death this time remained unknown.
“Feng Jiu’er — you are the one who stabbed His Highness the Crown Prince, yet now here you are trying to save him. What scheme are you plotting?”
“Mo Bai is fully capable of saving His Highness the Crown Prince — men, drag this woman out!” The moment Leng Yue entered, she fixed a furious gaze on Feng Jiu’er.
Yet not a single person paid her any mind.
“Understood.” Mo Bai nodded and seated himself at the bedside.
Feng Jiu’er turned slightly and looked at Emperor Ji, her voice extremely measured. “Elder, please go and stand guard outside — and bring along your dog with you.”
“Without my order, no one is to approach the tent by even half a step.”
“Feng Jiu’er, just who do you think you are — I…”
“Men, drag Leng Yue out and strike her thirty times with a rod!” Feng Jiu’er cut off Leng Yue’s words with an icy voice.
Two powerfully built men immediately entered from outside and seized Leng Yue on either side.
Leng Yue’s eyes widened as she glared at the two men flanking her. “How dare you! You actually lay hands on me — have you grown tired of living?”
“Drag her out. Strike her sixty times with the rod.” Emperor Ji waved his hand and said calmly.
“Yes.” The two large men nodded in unison and complied.
Leng Yue had never imagined that the people here would actually take orders from a woman who had stabbed His Highness the Crown Prince.
Even less had she expected Emperor Ji himself to personally order that she be struck — and sixty times at that.
Before Leng Yue had any chance to argue, the two men escorted her out of the tent.
Emperor Ji looked at Feng Jiu’er and let out a quiet sigh. “Wuya is in your hands. If you can bring him back from this, my life is yours.”
“The two armies are now locked in battle — you should be finding ways to stabilize the military situation, not standing here saying things that serve no purpose.”
Feng Jiu’er extended both hands and placed them against Di Wu Ya’s back.
“For him — I can only do my best, give everything I have. That is all.”
With those quietly resigned words, Feng Jiu’er closed her eyes.
Her brow settled into stillness as she channeled her true qi into Di Wu Ya’s body.
Five full hours passed in what felt like an instant, and Feng Jiu’er’s posture had barely shifted throughout.
For the entire five hours, except for when Mo Bai administered medicine to Di Wu Ya — causing the treatment to pause briefly — Feng Jiu’er had been channeling her inner energy into him without ceasing.
Feng Jiu’er’s complexion grew paler and paler. Even Mo Bai found it increasingly difficult to watch.
“Jiu’er — perhaps I should take over?” After a very long silence within the tent, Mo Bai said softly.
Feng Jiu’er paid no heed and continued channeling her true qi.
Mo Bai let out a quiet sigh and sat to one side, waiting in silence.
The other army physicians had long since departed. No one inside knew the situation outside — just as those outside had no way of knowing the situation within.
Di Wu Ya’s injuries were so severe that everyone was anxious — yet without Feng Jiu’er’s permission, no one dared to enter and disturb her.
The military camp had come under sudden attack from both flanks, catching the Longwu Army completely off guard.
As the battle grew fiercer, news of Di Wu Ya’s grave injuries spread among the soldiers and morale collapsed in an instant.
The situation for the time being was unfavorable to the Longwu Army.
Shortly after Mo Bai took his seat, Qiao Mu hurried in from outside.
The brother standing guard blocked her path. “Miss Jiu’er has ordered that no one may enter without her permission.”
“Feng Jiu’er!” Qiao Mu called out loudly.
As anxious as she was, how could she spare a thought for proprieties?
Mo Bai heard the sound and glanced at Feng Jiu’er.
Seeing Feng Jiu’er nod, he rose.
“Have Yu Jingfeng bring in the medicinal bath. Prepare a soak.” Feng Jiu’er said, her voice hoarse.
“Very well.” Mo Bai nodded and turned to go outside.
After several hours of treatment, Mo Bai — as a physician — could see that His Highness the Crown Prince’s condition had shown some improvement.
However, His Highness’s condition this time was truly grave — no one could make any guarantees.
