How many decades does a mortal life have? Looking back, wrinkles have quietly crept onto the face, etching the marks of time โ rosy cheeks turning to white hair, youth flowing away like water.
Ten years is truly no short span of time โ it carries great weight in a person’s life, capable of being deeply moving, capable of being glorious and brilliant, capable of being sorrowful and full of regret.
Cultivators’ lifespans are comparatively long โ ten years might be but a snap of the fingers, hardly stirring a ripple in the course of a life. And yet, these ten years on the other shore proved different from the ordinary for the various heroes.
These ten years were destined to be unforgettable for the God!
He stood high above, unrivaled across the six directions and eight wildernesses. Yet after these ten years, his situation had become precarious โ the world was all abuzz that his life was coming to its end, that his fate was no longer secure.
A True God was said to be coming to take his place โ this rumor shook his foundation and status. The most direct and evident sign was the weakening of faith, and his divine power sharply declining.
The outside world could not understand what this faith-power meant to him โ should he lose it, he might truly fall from the divine throne, losing his ruling position.
Yet no matter how he mobilized, displaying divine might capable of rivaling creation itself, sweeping across the other shore, nothing changed.
Rumors spread on all sides โ the belief that the God would die had already taken root in people’s hearts. Many believed he truly was failing, entering his twilight years, with no strength left to turn the tide.
These factors compounded upon one another, producing a terrifying result โ the faith-power was no longer pure, no longer vast, and the divine halo around his body was no longer so dazzling, could even be described as dim.
Only when he expended his own origin would radiance blaze forth, covering the sky.
And now, not to mention the outside world โ even within the Divine Domain, some hall masters, Divine Elders, and Dao Guardians had begun to waver in their hearts, believing he might truly be stepping into his twilight years.
“My divine might covers the world, unrivaled across the myriad domains of the heavens โ who could possibly oppose me?” The God, enraged to the extreme, roared alone atop his lofty divine altar, shaking the entire Divine Domain violently.
No one answered. The vast Divine Domain fell utterly silent.
From this, one could glimpse the truth โ the hearts of the Divine Domain were unsettled. Many remained silent, believing they had perceived certain signs, and had begun quietly calculating in their hearts.
“I stand atop the divine altar โ who dares oppose me? Across the nine heavens and ten earths, I am the summit.” The God bellowed, nearly mad, because he sensed something, staring coldly into the lofty void.
The divine altar was magnificent, towering even higher than a majestic mountain. He and the altar together radiated an indestructible divine light, dazzling and brilliant, looking down upon the world.
No one answered him โ only he himself surveyed all directions, his heroic bearing overwhelming the age, emitting an aura that made all the heavens tremble. He truly seemed like a peerless divine sovereign, and yet now, people had begun to doubt his rule.
The divine altar seemed cast from divine gold, supreme and majestic, radiating boundless light, its aura pressing down through the ages. All around, ancient trees stood in dense clusters, with a narrow bluestone path winding through them.
A most loyal maidservant came walking along the path, trembling with fear, kneeling and prostrating herself before the altar, saying: “Your Majesty, even though your divine greatness covers the world, you should still be wary of time’s mercilessness, and make preparations early.”
“Do you too doubt that I am failing?” the God roared, his whole body blazing with light, the dazzling divine halo around him surging and rolling like a vast sea.
With a puff, the maidservant turned into a mist of blood, scattering with the wind, vanishing without a trace.
BOOM!
In the distance, one giant divine statue after another let out a rumbling sound, trembling violently โ these were remnants left by the gods of past generations who had passed away, as though sensing this event.
An old voice came drifting: “God, supreme ruler, you are all-powerful, yet in the end you cannot resist the passage of time. Even possessing a supreme artifact, you cannot fend off the cycle of reincarnation.”
The God’s expression grew even colder, his gaze shifting, shooting down from the dazzling altar, yet failing to find a target.
The Divine Domain shook violently at once โ nearly everyone’s face showed fear. Had someone begun to challenge the God’s authority? Perhaps… a new True God was about to be born!
All around fell silent, not a single sound remaining โ the entire heaven and earth had lost their voice, dead and desolate.
“Petty clowns โ in my eyes, nothing more than dirt and rubble, not worth a single blow. Anyone who dares appear shall be shattered utterly!” The God’s dignified voice spread across the entire Divine Domain, making everyone shudder.
This vast, overwhelming divine might made people feel his strength โ like an unreachable monument, eternally standing above the divine altar, pressing down upon the eight wildernesses.
The Divine Domain fell into stillness. No one knew how much time passed before the God’s gaze shifted toward the most sacred place within the Divine Domain โ an ancient mountain there, flowing with the power of life, which no one could approach. Looked at closely, it was even more magnificent than the divine altar itself.
This was the Ancient Mountain of Life, the core forbidden ground of the Divine Domain โ no one could set foot there. Ordinarily, a supreme artifact guarded it, and only the God could sleep there.
On the mountain, mist and haze flowed, life essence ran like a small river, and various forms of radiance cascaded down.
On this ancient divine mountain grew a Tree of Life โ its trunk rough, its bark cracked, resembling layer upon layer of dragon scales. Its branches stretched out powerfully, every leaf lush green and crystalline, glistening and radiant, as if cast from blocks of emerald immortal gold, dazzling and brilliant.
The life essence there was so dense it seemed almost impossible to disperse, making this place sacred beyond compare โ approaching it alone felt as if one might ascend and become immortal on the spot, every pore opening wide to draw in the essence of life.
“I still have the Tree of Life โ who could possibly steal away my years?” the God roared, his gray-white hair disheveled, dancing wildly in the wind, his eyes growing ever more intimidating.
Divine light engulfed him, obscuring his true form โ only this faint silhouette was visible, enough to reveal that his years were truly not few.
“Your Majesty has already consumed the essence of the Tree of Life and lived out a second lifetime. Even possessing it now, it will have no further effect.” From the distance, many ancient divine statues trembled once more, this voice emerging from among them.
Everyone was shocked โ someone was truly challenging the God, entering the Divine Domain to speak against him. Did they have the strength for such a battle?
BOOM!
The magnificent divine altar trembled. The God descended from above, landing upon the divine statue. Silver ripples spread outward, devastating in their power, and a blurred figure was forcibly dragged out, then turned to dust with a puff โ the Divine Domain returned to silence once more.
“No matter how you look at it, the God has lost absolute control โ whether he has truly entered his twilight years, or whether someone has schemed against him, it’s enough to show that a great storm is coming. We should focus on protecting ourselves.”
This was what one Divine Elder said to his own people after leaving the Divine Domain, revealing the delicacy and danger of the situation, warning and hinting to those close to him.
Anyone living within the Divine Domain knew that the transition between an old god and a new one was never smooth โ it would always be accompanied by a bloody storm, the most terrifying of all.
History had proven time and again that bloody cycles kept repeating. People believed that in the coming century, the other shore would turn into a sea of blood, becoming hell itself, and everyone would live in fear for their own safety.
The Divine Domain suddenly grew much quieter โ the great commanders, the many divine armies, the Divine Elders, and the Dao Guardians all fell silent, quietly watching how the situation would develop.
“The God is failing. A new god has already been born. All of you should worship early, lest you be settled with later.”
On the other shore, rumors flew in all directions, discussions unceasing. In many great clans, a new divine statue had already been secretly erected โ martial and solemn, radiating precious light from every part of its body.
This was a middle-aged deity, appearing heroic and imposing, far more lifelike than the blurred old divine statue โ it had actually been sculpted in his true form.
“The True God, Qingyu Tian, has descended into the world! This era shall belong to him!”
The whole world shook violently โ a new god had been born, named Qingyu Tian, and word of it spread throughout the world. Some opportunistic great clans had already begun worshiping him ahead of time, shaking the world.
Soon after, the news leaked, and the divine statue was secretly passed to various regions โ nearly every great clan began secretly sculpting one, preparing for any eventuality, and many powerful clans began to enshrine it in divine shrines.
For the God, this was clearly a catastrophic development โ his faith-power plummeted sharply, from doubt to now outright disbelief. The world’s trust in him crumbled, his authority challenged, and his divine dynasty was on the verge of collapse.
This was a terrifying transformation. From this day on, the faith-power he received dropped to a level people found hard to believe โ his whole body lost its divine radiance, and he could only rely on his own strength to function.
Otherwise, his true form would manifest, exposed to the world, lacking that sense of majesty.
Such was the power of faith โ if people’s hearts grew unsteady, it could rapidly deplete, dropping swiftly, proving unreliable after all.
And throughout these ten years, the world’s foremost devil’s fame grew ever greater, known throughout the world, because he showed himself several times each year, remaining free and unrestrained the whole time, provoking the God’s authority, yet the God could do nothing about him.
It could be said that the God’s dignity had been openly offended โ he was the foremost of his kind, becoming the greatest heretic in this world. In the eyes of many, he was a stubborn troublemaker trying to pull the God down from the divine throne, the greatest devil among men.
“Even hiding in a valley to cultivate, I still get caught in this crossfire. Damn it, curse that usurping new god to drop dead on the very day he takes the throne!” In the Yin-Yang Valley, Long Ma cursed viciously.
The situation was now clear โ this was a massive conspiracy. Someone was impatient, wanting to replace the old god, and because Ye Fan had never gone around flaunting himself, someone was using him to stir up chaos, to blaspheme the old god.
What realm the God had actually reached became Ye Fan and the others’ greatest puzzle โ it seemed to surpass Great Sage, yet there were doubts about this too, leaving them confused.
They did not get involved, because the outside world was too dangerous โ even powerful figures like the Bull Demon King, and the terrifying Saint Spirit wielding the Immortal Tear Green Gold Ruler, were behaving cautiously; the various Great Sages had remained dormant for these ten years.
“The God is about to die, the True God descends into the world to take his place โ Qingyu Tian shall ascend the throne!”
Time passed swiftly โ this was the second decade!
No one had expected the new god’s offensive to be so fierce, so direct โ he began openly usurping the throne, proclaiming it to the world, that he would soon take control of the Divine Domain.
The world fell into chaos, the Divine Domain shook, and the great commanders, Divine Elders, Sacred Maidens, and hall masters were all unsettled, uncertain how to choose.
“I wield the supreme artifact โ who dares contend for supremacy?” the old god roared.
Yet, on this very day, the Divine Domain nearly collapsed โ the supreme divine artifact refused to heed his summons, breaking through the heavens and departing from the divine altar on its own.
“The Divine Chart remains neutral, aiding neither side!” a Divine Elder exclaimed in shock.
At the same time, many outside the Divine Domain were stunned โ the Bull Demon King, the Saint Spirit, the Golden Toad, the Grey Flood Dragon, and other Great Sages from beyond the domain had been watching closely, and upon seeing this scene, felt chills from head to toe.
The Divine Domain’s supreme divine artifact turned out to be a formation chart โ looking at the runes upon it, and the boundless killing intent flowing within, it clearly shared the same origin as the four Killing Swords within the Ancient Heavenly Venerate’s Life Spring.
“It’s… the Formation Chart of the Numinous Treasure Heavenly Venerate!” Everyone could not help but be shocked. If this item were obtained, the four Killing Swords could be gathered together in the future โ combined, they would be unrivaled under heaven.
The Divine Chart soared through the void, hovering above the Divine Domain, guarding the Tree of Life, slowly turning, its aura magnificent, as if it could shatter the myriad realms of the heavens โ chaotic mist rose, boundlessly terrifying.
“It’s the Array Diagram for Slaying Immortals โ who would have thought it was here.” At this critical moment, Pang Bo, Ye Fan, and the others had also arrived, watching in secret, wanting to witness this true battle of the gods for themselves.
