Chapter 168: Missed Scenery

Bai Youwei knew what the flower seeds were, but the other people in the room didn’t.

She raised her eyebrows slightly, looking at Wu Lili’s tense expression, and couldn’t help but smile. “Is it really necessary to go this far?”

This was heading toward wiping out the entire island.

Wu Lili’s eyes were red. “They’ve all gone crazy! They actually believed everything Zhao Jiantao said. Not a single person was willing to leave with me. They even said they’d go outside to bring more people back to fill the island’s games! There aren’t many living people left out there! Zhao Jiantao only found the four of you this whole week. Sooner or later, he’ll feed everyone here into the games!”

Shen Mo laughed lightly, revealing faint contempt. “Indeed, there aren’t many people left outside now. When we came over, we didn’t encounter a single car on the road. If they insist on staying here, they’re ultimately just courting their own destruction.”

Wu Lili bit her finger, her entire person trapped in anxious and indignant emotions.

“Who can say for sure about these things? Maybe they really will find some unlucky fools… Anyway, I can’t stay here anymore. You should leave quickly too. I don’t want to implicate you.”

Bai Youwei tilted her head, studying her. “Something’s strange. Why this sudden surge of righteous indignation? Are you trying to avenge Zhang Qi?”

Wu Lili froze. “I… I don’t know. I just feel… disgusted, very disgusted! These people, this island, everything is disgusting!”

After pausing for two seconds, she muttered in confusion again: “Actually, I’m not that different from them… If it weren’t for what happened to Zhang Qi, I… I probably would have believed Zhao Jiantao’s words too…”

Mentioning Zhang Qi, Wu Lili’s tears welled up again. She gritted her teeth. “I already caused Zhang Qi’s death. I can’t let them harm anyone else!”

Bai Youwei smiled indifferently. “Then I wish you good luck.”

Wu Lili pressed her lips together forcefully, then nervously glanced toward the door. Feeling she’d stayed too long, she gave one final warning to Bai Youwei: “I need to leave quickly. You should move as fast as possible.”

After speaking, she hurriedly departed.

At five or six o’clock, Shen Mo, Bai Youwei, Tan Xiao, and Teacher Cheng took a boat and left Sanshan Island.

Zhao Jiantao didn’t come. He had Sun Wei operate the boat to send them off. Presumably, this was because he was wary of Shen Mo and Bai Youwei, these two people who had cleared games.

After boarding the boat, Bai Youwei learned that Wu Lili had left the island one step ahead of them. She was somewhat surprised and asked, “Did she leave alone?”

Sun Wei nodded, his burly face full of gloom. “When Lili first came to the island, she rowed a boat over by herself. Just now she asked me to help move her luggage onto the boat, then she rowed away.”

Bai Youwei asked him with a smile, “You seem quite fond of her. Why didn’t you leave with her?”

Sun Wei’s face reddened uncomfortably. “Where could we go? It’s so dangerous outside. She’s just making trouble for nothing. She’ll come back sooner or later.”

Bai Youwei smiled at this and wanted to say something more, but felt it wasn’t necessary. Since Wu Lili had already made up her mind, why should she interfere?

Bai Youwei closed her mouth and squinted leisurely at the scenery.

Shen Mo glanced at her and likewise maintained his silence.

After the boat reached shore, Sun Wei returned to Sanshan Island.

Shen Mo and the others went back to the service area.

The car and luggage were still there, and the fire pit hadn’t been touched either, indicating no one had passed by during these few days.

The four people got in the car and prepared to set off again.

Shen Mo turned the car key and heard Bai Youwei sigh faintly:

“Ah…”

He paused and asked, “What’s wrong?”

Bai Youwei rested her chin on her hand, gazing out the car window. She said slowly, “I keep feeling like we’re going to miss a beautiful scene. It’s a bit melancholy.”

Wu Lili had appeared cowardly and foolish in the game. The island’s people all thought she lacked insight, and even Zhao Jiantao believed he had everything under control. But who would have thought that everyone’s fate had quietly been changed by one woman?

The flower seeds would grow into a magnificent sea of flowers within twenty-four hours. If the people on the island couldn’t escape in time, they would become nutrients. Who knew how long the blooming season would last?

Bai Youwei closed her eyes, imagining that scene, her lips curving slightly upward…
