Chapter 1976: Feng Clan Arc: Romantic Proposal

At noon in early summer, a cool breeze carrying the scent of lotus blossoms gently brushed against people’s bodies and faces.

The woman leaning in the warm embrace slowly woke and opened her eyes.

Her eyes were still drowsy with sleep, but that couldn’t hide her devastating beauty.

“Awake?” A man’s low, hoarse voice sounded.

Feng Jiu’er sat up from Di Wu Ya’s embrace, spread her arms, and stretched.

“Mm.” She nodded and asked, “Didn’t you rest?”

The breeze over the lake was too comfortable—she hadn’t slept so soundly in a long time.

These past few days there had been no fighting, but there had been countless things to attend to.

Though the two of them rarely had time together, for the sake of letting a certain someone properly rest, Feng Jiu’er always found excuses not to go to his bedchamber at night.

Just now, with the cool breeze blowing and the scent of lotus in the air, feeling that familiar presence, even though she’d only slept for half an hour, it had been enough to leave her refreshed and at ease.

Di Wu Ya didn’t respond to Feng Jiu’er’s words. His large hand reached down and picked up the kettle from the stove rack.

Feng Jiu’er leaned back slightly, her gaze settling ahead.

Di Wu Ya held the soft little body in his arms with one hand while gracefully pouring water and brewing tea with the other.

In the blink of an eye, a cup of fragrant, rich tea was brought before Feng Jiu’er.

Di Wu Ya leaned down, blew gently on it, and brought the teacup close to Feng Jiu’er’s lips.

Feng Jiu’er pursed her lips, opened her mouth slightly, and took a sip of the tea.

“Not bad!” she said with a smile.

That was genuine praise—not only was the person who brewed the tea handsome, but the tea itself was truly excellent.

While the two of them were being affectionate on the boat in the middle of the lake, a group was rapidly approaching.

Feng Jiu’er, her head muddled by the beautiful scenery and the handsome man, only noticed someone approaching once the group had already reached the designated spot.

Suddenly, the sound of a signal flare firing rang out, and brilliant fireworks burst open above the lake.

Feng Jiu’er abruptly raised her eyes, dazzling light flickering in them.

“Ninth Imperial Uncle, you all—” she said, lowering her head and spotting the crowd gathered on one side of the lake.

“May the Prince and Princess Consort enjoy a hundred years of harmony!” As the crowd’s resounding voices fell, the fireworks rose and burst open again.

“May the Prince and Princess Consort soon be blessed with a noble child!” After the second blessing, another burst of fireworks.

“May the Prince and Princess Consort grow old together!”

“May the Prince and Princess Consort have all their wishes come true!”

“May the Prince and Princess Consort…”

Each blessing was accompanied by the sound of fireworks.

Finally, the crowd’s blessings ended with a dozen or so fireworks bursting in succession.

When Feng Jiu’er turned back after admiring the beautiful fireworks, Di Wu Ya was kneeling on one knee behind her.

In his hand, he held a diamond ring even larger than a pigeon’s egg.

The War God Prince was truly willful—as if diamonds were just there for the taking!

“Girl, marry me, and let me take care of you for the rest of my life!” Di Wu Ya spoke each word with extreme sincerity.

Feng Jiu’er looked into the man’s deeply affectionate eyes, covering her lips with both hands, unable to speak.

Between her and the Ninth Imperial Uncle, they had shared far more experiences than most people ever would—the two of them had long since been like an old married couple.

But seeing how much effort he’d put into their wedding, she was still moved.

“Say yes to him!” Yu Jingfeng, seeing Feng Jiu’er not moving, called out anxiously.

“Say yes to him! Say yes to him!” The others reacted as well, shouting along.

Only then did Feng Jiu’er notice that her man’s temples were already covered in sweat.

She reached out her hand, coughed lightly, and her expression turned serious as well.

“I—I do!”

Feng Jiu’er truly hadn’t expected that even in ancient times, her own proposal could be so romantic.

Surprise, being moved, and happiness all surged into her heart at once.
