“Feng Li, is it worth it, doing this?” Han Ying grabbed hold of his arm.
Feng Li wrenched himself free with force, throwing her off. “My affairs are none of your concern!”
Han Ying wanted to chase after him, but she heard a rumbling explosion.
Her brow creased, and she turned toward the other direction.
“How did you lure them here?” Han Ying saw clearly the troops at the mountainside, and her heart went cold in an instant.
This was their last army — it shouldn’t have been here. Why had they followed him?
“The result is what it is; the process no longer matters.” Feng Li kept walking forward.
The direction he walked was not toward the mouth of the valley, but toward the sheer cliff.
Jiu’er and Wu Ya would soon realize he had deliberately misled them. Feng Li didn’t want anyone else to be sacrificed.
It was time for this battle to end.
“Feng Li, what are you doing?” Han Ying sensed something was wrong and immediately chased after him.
Just as Feng Li neared the cliff’s edge, she caught hold of him.
“You want to die?” Han Ying stared at him in disbelief. “Do you know how high this cliff is?”
“This is the highest cliff in Feng territory. Fall from here, and no matter how strong your martial skill, there’s no chance of survival!”
“Feng Li, I treasure you as my own life — why won’t you even look at me once?”
“I’m sorry!” Feng Li tried to break free of her grip but couldn’t.
He gave a faint sigh, his large hand moving to his waist.
“Let go of him!” Jian Yi rushed forward, sword in hand.
Behind him, Feng Qiongcang pursued closely.
“Jian Yi, watch out!”
Feng Li hadn’t expected that although he’d deceived everyone else, he couldn’t fool this stubborn young man.
Hearing the shout, Jian Yi turned and swung his sword with force.
But even as he struck, he still took the full force of Feng Qiongcang’s palm strike.
Feng Qiongcang’s martial skill and inner strength far surpassed his own — Jian Yi already bore several sword wounds, and now he’d suffered internal injury as well.
With a “boom,” the force of the palm landed, and Jian Yi, clutching at his chest, felt blood spill from the corner of his mouth.
Feng Qiongcang showed no intention of sparing him, closing in quickly with his sword.
“Let him go!” Feng Li pushed Han Ying away and pulled a bundle of explosives from beneath his robe, raising it high.
“Stop now, or I’ll take you down with me!”
He had entrusted Jiu’er to Wu Ya, so he could go find Yan’er in peace.
But Jian Yi was a good child — he couldn’t let him die.
Seeing this, Feng Qiongcang abruptly withdrew the sword he had just sent forward.
The explosive bundle was too large — once it went off, it would surely blow apart half the mountain, and he wouldn’t be able to avoid it either.
“Feng Li, don’t!” Han Ying scrambled up from the ground. “I don’t want you to die!”
“Jian Yi, go quickly!” Feng Li commanded in a low voice.
Jian Yi not only didn’t leave, he turned and walked toward him step by step.
“My lord, come back with me.”
He knew only one thing: if the prince didn’t return, Jiu’er would surely be heartbroken.
“Go!” Feng Li frowned slightly.
Jian Yi pointed his sword at Han Ying and stood shoulder to shoulder with Feng Li. “If we’re leaving, we leave together.”
“I didn’t expect you’d turn the tables on me.” Feng Qiongcang gave a cold laugh. “Two lives for two lives — it’s fair now.”
Feng Li had drawn all of Feng Qiongcang’s men here, and had buried explosives at the foot of the mountain beforehand.
Now, he truly had nothing left.
“Weren’t you going to detonate the explosives?” Feng Qiongcang casually tossed his sword aside. “If you’re going to come at me, then let’s make it quick!”
Once the bundle exploded, it would surely destroy half the mountain — no one would escape.
But he could see Feng Li’s reluctance to let Jian Yi die — and that mercy might just be enough to turn defeat into victory.
“Since you were young, I warned you never to be soft-hearted, never to give yourself a weakness. Yet you always let it go in one ear and out the other.”
“Feng Li, you are destined for utter defeat in this life!”
