Xi Ju Nv Shen – Chapter 34

Wu Mangmang decisively hung up the phone, then turned it off.

She stuck her tongue out at the phone and made a face.

When Wu Mangmang walked back, she heard Lu Sui stand up and say, “I’m going to shower.”

It was perfectly normal words, but watching Lu Sui’s back, Wu Mangmang felt something was off. After thinking, she realized it should be Lu Sui’s expression that was wrong – it seemed slightly teasing.

Wu Mangmang couldn’t help but think of the high-definition cameras in Lu Sui’s bedroom again.

Damn high-tech villa, was there no privacy or human rights left?

So Wu Mangmang couldn’t help but shout at Lu Sui’s back, “You didn’t install cameras in the bathroom, did you?”

“There are no blind spots in this villa.” Lu Sui replied.

Wu Mangmang was instantly defeated. Did this mean her habit of singing in the bathroom was also exposed?

Wu Mangmang almost lunged forward to kick Lu Sui to death.

Wu Mangmang roared fiercely, “Hand over the recordings!”

Lu Sui couldn’t help but laugh, “When you moved into your room, all cameras were automatically shut off. You can set it yourself.”

Wu Mangmang patted her chest, still feeling super unsafe living here.

So much so that Wu Mangmang even changed her habit of sleeping naked.

In the morning, when bright, gentle sunlight shone on Wu Mangmang’s face, she couldn’t help but take a deep breath of air full of negative ions, stretched all her muscles and bones, then brushed her teeth, washed her face, tied her hair in a ponytail and ran downstairs cheerfully to get milk.

Wu Mangmang was drinking milk when she turned around to see Lu Sui walking in from outside wearing wet swimming trunks, drying his hair with a towel as he walked – it was like watching a premium channel.

Lu Sui walked to Wu Mangmang’s side and leaned over to open the refrigerator door. Wu Mangmang could even smell the scent of water droplets on his body.

Lu Sui’s eyes admiringly looked Wu Mangmang up and down, lingering on her legs for a moment.

Wu Mangmang blushed and clamped her legs together, adjusting her breathing under the pretense of lowering her head to drink milk.

But the V-line she glimpsed almost blinded Wu Mangmang’s eyes.

Indeed, the foundation of male-female relationships lay in mutual sexual attraction, and it was a mutual force.

After breakfast, Lu Sui went fishing. Wu Mangmang expressed no interest in this elderly sport.

Lu Sui said, “You can sit next to me and play with your phone.”

Wu Mangmang couldn’t understand this logic. Wouldn’t it be better for her to play with her phone sitting on the indoor sofa? Why go to the waterside to feed mosquitoes?

“Because I’ll shut off the indoor signal source.” Lu Sui said.

You win!

Wu Mangmang’s teeth itched with the desire to eat meat. Lu Sui’s method of controlling network signals was exactly the same as Ms. Liu’s method of controlling pocket money.

Wu Mangmang could only compromise and sit next to Lu Sui. She didn’t understand – even if she sat over, they still wouldn’t talk. She had absolutely no function at all?

Elderly people’s dating patterns were really puzzling.

So Wu Mangmang had to find something to do. “Can I tell them you’re my boyfriend?”

Wu Mangmang waved her phone at Lu Sui.

“Up to you.” Lu Sui didn’t even open his eyes.

Wu Mangmang thought about how to naturally introduce Lu Sui. If she randomly announced it in the WeChat group, she’d probably be mocked for being a toad wanting to eat swan meat.

So Wu Mangmang asked again, “Can I take a photo of your profile? There’s only sea and trees here, it won’t reveal secrets of your island, and I can mosaic the background.”

“Don’t post it on Weibo.” Lu Sui said.

Wu Mangmang made a “yes” gesture with her right fist behind Lu Sui’s back, then opened her selfie app, trying to photograph Lu Sui beautifully.

Having such a photogenic boyfriend was really blissful. Wu Mangmang couldn’t help but take several more photos, showing them to Lu Sui for selection, and pushing her luck by saying, “If I could photograph you swimming, they would definitely be jealous to death.”

Lu Sui deleted all but one photo of himself from Wu Mangmang’s phone, and while doing so browsed through Wu Mangmang’s selfies. This girl hadn’t forgotten to take a selfie even while brushing her teeth.

Lu Sui browsed through them one by one, laughing as he looked.

Wu Mangmang thought all her photos were beautiful and was happy to let Lu Sui admire them.

She was never one for solitary narcissism.

So Wu Mangmang quietly indulged Lu Sui’s behavior, picked up the remote control and started playing with it. Having C-3PO bring juice and fruit salad back and forth was quite fun.

But Wu Mangmang forgot that narcissists’ phone albums always had a few photos that couldn’t be seen by others.

For example, the one she took in the bathroom wearing a white crop top and black lace bralette.

The intoxicated photo where her hand reached under the T-shirt, touching her own breasts.

It was actually just an imitation photo, for her personal collection and appreciation only.

When Wu Mangmang remembered this and tried to get her phone back from Lu Sui without alerting him, she looked over his shoulder and her heart raced with panic.

Because Lu Sui had already seen another even earlier photo.

He was browsing one by one, which meant he had already seen the white T-shirt one.

The one he was looking at now was called “Wet Temptation.”

It was Wu Mangmang wearing a white shirt, standing under the showerhead taking a selfie.

Wu Mangmang snatched back her phone and said angrily with embarrassment, “How can you randomly look through someone else’s phone?!”

“Sorry.” Lu Sui apologized gracefully.

Wu Mangmang didn’t dare look at Lu Sui’s expression. She felt extremely embarrassed.

Mortified.

Fortunately, Lu Sui immediately stood up and walked forward to pull his fishing rod. Wu Mangmang looked at his back and breathed a sigh of relief, using her hands to cool her face.

Wu Mangmang found the rare photos treasured in her phone, intending to delete them immediately, but her finger hesitated several times without being able to do it.

The photos saved on her phone were all carefully selected and could withstand the test of time.

Breathtakingly beautiful.

The lighting, angles, and composition were all perfect – magazine quality.

Wu Mangmang was very distressed.

“If you can’t bear to delete them, don’t.” Lu Sui turned back and said.

Wu Mangmang didn’t speak.

“But keeping such photos on your phone is too unsafe. I’ll help you find a way to store them.” Lu Sui said.

Finally, Lu Sui gave Wu Mangmang a USB-sized storage device.

“Set your own password. If someone tries to force their way in, it will activate a self-destruct program.”

So advanced? It could be in a movie.

Wu Mangmang took the storage device. “But what if I want to look at them anytime?”

“You can look in the mirror.” Lu Sui replied.

Haha, what a cold joke.

Wu Mangmang shrugged and smiled coldly.

“It would be great if these photos could have a backdoor, some kind of virus that would automatically destroy them if they were leaked. Then there’d be nothing to fear.” Wu Mangmang said.

Lu Sui raised his eyebrows. “Not a bad idea.”

But because of this episode, Wu Mangmang forgot about announcing Lu Sui.

Besides, she was no longer in the mood.

In the afternoon, the helicopter finally arrived. Wu Mangmang breathed a big sigh of relief.

Ms. Liu called, demanding that Wu Mangmang must come home.

Lu Sui escorted Wu Mangmang all the way to the door of her hillside home. Wu Mangmang said thank you and was about to get out, but Lu Sui wouldn’t press the central lock.

Wu Mangmang turned to look at Lu Sui, wondering if he was waiting for a goodbye kiss.

So Wu Mangmang very reluctantly and perfunctorily leaned over and quickly kissed Lu Sui’s cheek.

But seeing the surprised look in Lu Sui’s eyes, Wu Mangmang immediately realized she had misunderstood.

How presumptuous of her.

“Goodbye kiss.” Wu Mangmang quickly explained.

Lu Sui nodded. “Should I pick you up after work tomorrow?”

“Sometimes when there’s a lot of work, I might have to work overtime.” Wu Mangmang said.

“Then call me when you get off work?” Lu Sui said again.

Wu Mangmang nodded. This time the car door could finally open, and Wu Mangmang quickly jumped out.

“You should wait for me to open the door for you.” Lu Sui walked around the front of the car to Wu Mangmang.

Wu Mangmang quickly waved her hands. “We’re so familiar now, there’s no need, right? I’m going in.”

Wu Mangmang had already walked several steps away when she heard Lu Sui call her back.

She turned to look at Lu Sui, who was leaning against the car door and said, “Mangmang, do you know my phone number?”

Caught!

Wu Mangmang had an epiphany and patted her forehead. “Oh my, I forgot I don’t have your number.”

“Give me your phone.” Lu Sui extended his hand.

Wu Mangmang hesitated for a moment before unlocking her phone and handing it to Lu Sui.

Lu Sui entered a string of numbers, called his own phone, then handed it back to Wu Mangmang.

When Wu Mangmang entered the Wu residence, she let out a deep breath.

Dating Lu Sui, for some reason, always gave her the feeling of a eunuch having an affair with His Majesty the Emperor. She didn’t dare even breathe loudly, and whatever His Majesty said was right – she could only serve carefully.

Although having a man like Lu Sui as a boyfriend could greatly satisfy one’s vanity, she otherwise felt somewhat empty.

As soon as Ms. Liu saw Wu Mangmang, she began questioning her. “Do you understand what modesty means? Going home with a man to spend the night on your first meeting – it would be strange if he treasured you.”

Wu Mangmang hugged a cushion and said nothing.

Ms. Liu came forward to pull at Wu Mangmang’s collar, frightening Wu Mangmang into repeatedly calling “What are you doing, what are you doing?”

“Seeing you so listless, I thought you’d been abused.” Liu Lewei said.

“Your imagination is too wild.” Wu Mangmang snatched her sweater collar back from Ms. Liu’s hands.

“Tell me, what kind of person is he to make you throw yourself at him like this?” Liu Lewei pressed.

“Has car, has house, parents both dead.” Wu Mangmang shrugged and sighed.

“Where does he work? Does he run his own company? What’s the company’s scale? What’s his annual income? How many girlfriends has he had? Does he plan to marry?” Liu Lewei rattled off a bunch of questions.

This wasn’t her fault. When Liu Lewei had asked Shen Ting’s aunt to introduce someone to Wu Mangmang, his aunt didn’t have suitable men at hand and had to ask others, going through several intermediaries. Only when the time and place were set did she tell Liu Lewei.

To show she trusted Shen Jingmei, Liu Lewei was too embarrassed to ask too many questions and agreed.

So Ms. Liu actually had no concept of Wu Mangmang’s blind date either.

Where did Lu Sui work? Wu Mangmang really didn’t know. In her impression, Lu Sui was the type who didn’t work.

What was the financial god’s company called? Unknown.

“Don’t know the company name, the scale should be fairly large, didn’t ask about annual income, past romantic history completely unknown, has marriage plans.” Wu Mangmang said.

Liu Lewei asked again, “Would he give you financial control after marriage?”

“How is that possible?” Wu Mangmang immediately refuted, not even daring to think about it.

“You don’t know anything, so what exactly do you see in him?” Liu Lewei said irritably.

“I don’t see anything in him, he sees something in me.” Wu Mangmang also replied ungraciously.

Liu Lewei looked at Wu Mangmang carefully. She understood her daughter somewhat – it seemed the other party was very domineering and had completely suppressed Wu Mangmang.

The person Shen Jingmei introduced couldn’t be that bad.

But there was a saying about mismatched social status. Ms. Liu didn’t expect Wu Mangmang to be a “first lady” – she just hoped she’d find a reliable man to marry. As for economic conditions, getting by would be fine. When Wu Mangmang married, she would naturally provide a substantial dowry.

“I think we should forget it. A man being too domineering isn’t a good thing. If you find it difficult to refuse, I can ask your Aunt Shen to explain.”
