Xi Ju Nv Shen – Chapter 45

Of course, this sleep was very brief. With Lu Sui’s movement, Wu Mangmang quickly opened her eyes, though her mind was still groggy. It wasn’t until the driver in front started the car that she realized where she was.

But it was too late to help anything. Wu Mangmang was so tired her eyelids were fighting each other.

Lu Sui gently patted his thigh. Wu Mangmang couldn’t care less that this gesture was for coaxing little dogs – she directly pillowed her head on Lu Sui’s lap, curled her legs up on the seat, and began to sleep.

As for image, it could be completely ignored in the face of sleepiness.

When Wu Mangmang woke up in the soft big bed the next morning, she stretched very comfortably. Annie opened the bed curtains to let sunlight in, and Aida also came in to serve her by combing her hair.

Life was so comfortable that Wu Mangmang forgot she was a working-class person. When she went downstairs beautifully and heard the grandfather clock chiming, she exclaimed “OMG” – she was going to be late for work, especially having to start from the lake district.

Wu Mangmang rushed to the dining table, picked up the milk glass and gulped it down, then wiped her mouth with a napkin under Peter’s slightly surprised gaze, explaining: “I’m going to be late.”

Though Peter still couldn’t understand why Lu Sui would find such a loud girl as a girlfriend, he still dutifully began arranging transportation for Wu Mangmang.

Wu Mangmang reached out and grabbed a piece of toast. When she heard coughing, she turned to see Lu Sui coming downstairs. She ran over with a grin to greet him: “Morning! Are you sick?”

Lu Sui’s face had some sickly pallor. Wu Mangmang thought it must be from catching cold in the snow and wind last night.

Elderly people’s immune systems really declined badly. Look at her – nothing wrong, so lively and vigorous now, like a little flying dragon again.

“Sorry, I caused this, didn’t I? But isn’t your body’s resistance a bit weak? You should find a Chinese medicine doctor to regulate your immune system,” Wu Mangmang said with concern.

How could Lu Sui not understand Wu Mangmang’s implication? “First you attack my age, now you’re attacking my immune system?”

Wu Mangmang made an “uh” sound. Heaven and earth are vast, but the sick are greatest, so she silently made a zipping motion across her mouth and made an OK sign, indicating she wouldn’t speak anymore.

“Miss, the car is ready,” Peter said behind them.

Wu Mangmang responded “I’ll be right out,” jumped up to kiss Lu Sui’s cheek, “I’m going to work, take care of your health.” Then she couldn’t help adding: “I won’t despise your immune system.”

But this last sentence wasn’t voiced – just air sounds.

After speaking, Wu Mangmang ran to the door, turned around and blew Lu Sui a loud kiss.

When she got off work in the afternoon, Wu Mangmang had just walked out the door when she saw Lu Sui’s usual car parked at the entrance. She had no choice but to get in.

When the car entered the Lu residence, Annie was already waiting at the door to greet them.

“Where’s Lu Sui?” Wu Mangmang asked.

“Young master is resting in his room,” Annie said.

Wu Mangmang went directly to Lu Sui’s room.

When she entered, Lu Sui was sleeping. People with colds should rest more. Wu Mangmang sat by the bed appreciating the sleeping handsome man, feeling quite guilty.

She’d only remembered in the car this morning that when Lu Sui got out last night, he didn’t seem to be wearing a coat – just thin clothes. Who knew she’d dragged him outside to blow in the cold wind for so long? Even an iron body couldn’t stand it.

Wu Mangmang stayed by Lu Sui’s side wanting to relieve her guilt a little, but seeing him sleep so soundly, she began getting sleepy herself.

She simply decided to go all the way – took off her sweater dress and shoes, lifted the covers and lay down next to Lu Sui. It was as warm as she’d imagined.

In less than five seconds, Wu Mangmang entered sweet dreams.

Young people’s sleep was really too good.

Lu Sui was awakened by heat. He sat up and looked down at his T-shirt that had been soaked with drool, reached out and gently pushed the dreaming Wu Mangmang.

Wu Mangmang mumbled something and raised her hand to swat away the thing disturbing her sweet dreams. Something jumped, startling her awake.

Wu Mangmang sat up rubbing her eyes, and seeing Lu Sui, remembered where and when she was.

“Are you feeling better?” Wu Mangmang guiltily reached out to touch Lu Sui’s forehead, trying to resolve the awkwardness of sleeping uninvited.

“How did you end up sleeping in my bed?” Lu Sui asked, his voice somewhat hoarse, probably from coughing, which inexplicably added some voice actor charm.

Wu Mangmang looked into Lu Sui’s eyes, not knowing if he disliked her sleeping in his bed or was simply asking.

But regardless of his mindset, Wu Mangmang had a standard answer.

“I was worried about your health, so I came to check on you. You were sleeping, and I was afraid you might want water or something later with no one to take care of you, so I stayed. Who knew that watching you sleep would make me sleepy too,” Wu Mangmang explained.

The key point of this sentence was: I stayed to take care of you.

“You don’t need to take care of me. What if you catch it?” Lu Sui said.

“I’m not afraid. Your illness is my fault – let me make amends,” Wu Mangmang said bravely.

“It’s not your fault. It’s my low resistance and aging immune system,” Lu Sui refused.

Tsundere old man!

Wu Mangmang internally complained about Lu Sui, but her expression was very sincere: “I remembered – you weren’t wearing a coat then. Even Superman would catch cold and get a runny nose. Besides, the illness is in your body, but the pain is in my heart. Just let me stay and take care of you.”

Wu Mangmang’s face was full of pleading, but only earned a tsundere “hmph” from Lu Sui.

“Smooth talker,” Lu Sui commented.

These words were usually said by women to men, but with Wu Mangmang and Lu Sui, it was reversed.

Wu Mangmang thought self-mockingly that their future relationship would definitely be Lu Sui being beautiful as a flower while she was responsible for fabricating sweet words.

“Ah, I almost forgot – I have a gift for you.” Wu Mangmang bounced up from the bed to rummage through her bag.

But today she carried a large bag with too many things, so she had to kneel on the ground with her butt up, rummaging around.

“Found it!” Wu Mangmang called out, turning her head just in time to see Lu Sui averting his gaze.

Wu Mangmang awkwardly tugged at her slip dress, regardless of whether she’d flashed anything. At times like this, she had to pretend nothing happened to avoid mutual embarrassment.

“For you.” Wu Mangmang handed a small blue box tied with pink ribbon to Lu Sui. “Open it and see.”

This kind of treatment was still relatively fresh for Lu Sui. Though he received many gifts on his birthday, people rarely gave him gifts normally.

Of course, it wasn’t that others didn’t want to give gifts, but they always struggled when giving gifts:

What should they give him? He seemed to lack nothing and wasn’t interested in anything.

So giving gifts to Lu Sui was really a major difficult problem.

Lu Sui unwrapped the packaging in front of Wu Mangmang. Inside was a sky-blue round small box.

“You don’t know what this is, right?” Wu Mangmang took credit as she took the small box from Lu Sui’s hands. “This is a pill box that can give timed reminders. Have you seen ‘Lost in Hong Kong’? It’s like what Zhao Wei gave Xu Zheng. It can record sounds. Let me play you a segment.”

After speaking, Wu Mangmang didn’t care what Lu Sui thought and pressed the recording switch on the small box. Who knew that was the play button? Wu Mangmang’s imitated Taiwanese accent came out: “Baby, mommy’s feeding you yo-yo~~”

Wu Mangmang laughed awkwardly twice, planning to brush it off: “That was a test recording when I bought it. Let me record a new one for you.”

“Medicine can’t be stopped, medicine can’t be stopped,” Wu Mangmang repeated into the small box.

“Wu Mangmang!” Lu Sui had to rub his brow.

“Don’t like it?” Wu Mangmang bent down and put her head in front of Lu Sui to see his expression.

“Then I’ll change it for you.”

“Medicine medicine! Check it out! Pancake fruit combo!” Wu Mangmang twisted her head and hips, starting to hum.

“Stop playing,” Lu Sui took the pill box from her hands.

Wu Mangmang pouted – she was having fun. “I bought one for myself too, it’s pink, look.” Wu Mangmang also dug hers out of her bag. “Couple’s set.”

Why would even pill boxes have couple’s sets? Lu Sui really admired people’s money-making methods nowadays.

“I use it for my vitamins and those medicines, don’t misunderstand,” Wu Mangmang added an explanation.

“I won’t misunderstand,” Lu Sui said.

Wu Mangmang held the pill box to Lu Sui’s mouth, asking for reward: “You record something for me too.”

“Medicine can’t be stopped,” Lu Sui said perfunctorily.

“Could you be a little creative?” Wu Mangmang was somewhat disappointed.

People who deserve punishment will eventually be pinned down.

Wu Mangmang exclaimed and felt herself pressed under the pie.

“Really not afraid of catching it?” Lu Sui’s lips lingered by Wu Mangmang’s ear.

Wu Mangmang shivered, feeling her neck tickle and wanting to laugh.

“Yamete kudasai~~” (Don’t)

“Hanashite” (Let go of me)

“Itai yo~~” (It hurts)

“Soko, dame” (Not there)

“Iku” (I’m coming)

“Motto, motto~~” (More, more)

Wu Mangmang single-handedly performed an entire play that needed two actors.

And Lu Sui had already gotten up from bed and dressed. He looked back at Wu Mangmang who was still rolling around on the bed and said coldly: “Watch less of those ghostly things in the future.”

Wu Mangmang made a “tch” sound: “As if you didn’t watch adult videos in high school.”

“You watched them in high school?” Lu Sui asked back.

Too good at catching the main point! Wu Mangmang really wanted to seal her own mouth, so she coughed hard twice: “Oh no, I think I caught it from you. I’m going to take medicine.”

Wu Mangmang jumped off the bed, not even bothering to put on her sweater dress, hugging it to her chest as she opened the door and quickly hopped to her own bedroom across the hall.

When Wu Mangmang finished showering and changing clothes, she found two boxes on the nightstand, one of which was impossible to ignore – a beautiful Apple box.

Inside lay a rose gold phone.

“Hooray!” Wu Mangmang hugged the phone and kissed it. When she went to buy a phone at noon, it was out of stock, and ordering from the official website required time. When shopping, she saw the pill box and thought of buying it to give to Lu Sui to show her sincerity.

The other box was a DSLR camera box.

Wu Mangmang had to admire Mr. Lu’s thoughtfulness – even when sick, he didn’t forget to work hard.
