Synopsis:
Han Linfeng, the heir apparent of Beizhen, married a blind merchant’s daughter amid widespread ridicule. At a banquet, the emperor pointed at the drunken, pleasure-seeking Han Linfeng and said, “In ancient times there was the Duke of Anle, who reveled so much he forgot Shu; today there is this man—rotten wood that cannot be carved!”
The noble ladies of the capital, who adored the young heir, lamented and condemned the situation: how hateful that such a charming and elegant nobleman had been schemed against by a blind girl, resulting in such an ill-matched marriage!
The heir’s advisers wept one after another: “Young lord! For the sake of enduring hardship and biding your time, you must suffer such humiliation! We are useless—we cannot share your burden or marry in your place!”
The blind girl, Su Luoyun, responded calmly: “Please, everyone, don’t get so worked up. This marriage between the heir and me is merely a transaction—each of us taking what we need. When the day comes that he spreads his wings and achieves great ambitions, I will accept the letter of divorce and leave.”
What she did not expect, however, was just how capable the man she married would be.
When the heir’s father ascended the throne and became the supreme ruler, she—well aware that she was a source of disgrace to the Eastern Palace—did not wait for the emperor to order her death. Instead, she hastily packed up her silver notes and belongings, preparing to “die suddenly” and make way for others…
