Synopsis:
Li Rong and Pei Wenxuan married at the age of eighteen. Li Rong chose Pei Wenxuan for his family background, hoping to avoid disaster, while Pei Wenxuan married her for her identity as a princess, aiming to rise in power. It was a political marriage with no affection between them. Later, she became obsessed with singing, indulging in a life of luxury and excess, while he had someone else in his heart but never crossed her doorstep. Thirty years of marriage passed, with nothing but power between them. In the end, manipulated by others, he was killed by her in a scheme, which was not surprising. However, when she woke up, she found herself back at the age of eighteen—the hardest moment in both of their lives.
Pei Wenxuan came to find Li Rong.
“Your Highness, do you think we should marry again?”
“Fine…”
“Then I must first deal with your ‘guest’.”
“Do you think I will keep your lover here?”
After a brief silence, Pei Wenxuan spoke again. “How about we endure each other for a while? In two years, when we have control of the power, we can divorce. At that time, we can take revenge for grievances and settle old scores. What does the princess think?”
Li Rong hesitated for a moment before replying, “Alright, let’s just get through it for now…”
Later, Pei Wenxuan and Li Rong became powerful, dominating both court and the world. He watched as Li Rong wrote the divorce papers at home. After much thought, Pei Wenxuan finally entered the study.
“Now that the child has grown so big, how about we just get along a bit longer?”
Story Tone: There’s no major suffering, but plenty of dramatic confrontations. It’s a story of two people who start as enemies, become close friends, and then lovers.
Trigger Warnings: [For those who dislike possessive characters, high standards, or idealized personas, please be cautious.]
- The female lead had a lover in her past life. Due to certain circumstances, it didn’t reach its final step, but it wasn’t as if nothing ever happened.
- The male lead had a “white moonlight” (an unfulfilled love) before his rebirth.
- Both of them show their worst sides to each other—think fighting and scheming against each other. It’s a story of two flawed characters, so please don’t expect idealized character traits from either side.
