My Heroic Husband
Original Title: 赘婿
Author: Fen Nu de Xiang Jiao
Raw Link: Zhui Xu
Male Lead: Guo Qi Lin
Female Lead: Song Yi
Synopsis:
A financially powerful man who has had enough of the cutthroat scheming and life-and-death struggles of the business world is transported back to ancient times, where he finds himself inhabiting the body of the lowest-status son-in-law in a wealthy merchant family. What follows is a leisurely, lighthearted story.
He had long since sworn off getting involved in matters concerning the country and the world at large. Yet how could he possibly escape them?
“Someone once stood at the very top of the pyramid,
where envy and admiration came at the cheapest price.
He walked the road beneath the adoration of thousands,
yet could not escape the solitary sleep beneath a gravestone.”
— finale, A Matter of Life and Death
PS: 赘婿 (zhuì xù, with zhuì in the fourth tone) means a man who marries into his wife’s family and lives there as a son-in-law. Think 入赘 (“marry into the wife’s family”) and 赘婿 (“matrilocal son-in-law”), not 嗷婿 (or ào xù).
PS2: This novel is intended as a lighthearted TVB-style drama, rather than a serious historical drama of the sort produced by CCTV. So, if anything in the story appears to have some connection to actual history, please don’t take it too seriously.
