Chapter 1466 — Feng Clan Arc: The Sky Is About to Collapse

The handsome man held in his arms a woman who was equally one in ten thousand.

Many had heard that Doctor Long of the Longying Medicine Hall was a woman of unparalleled beauty, yet very few had ever truly laid eyes on Feng Jiu’er.

Even today, the majority of the commoners and assassins who had been hired for the job had never seen Feng Jiu’er. They had come here to do what they were paid to do, nothing more.

The handsome man who had appeared out of nowhere moved like the wind, sweeping Doctor Long up onto the rooftop.

He was not only extraordinarily handsome — he radiated an overwhelming, inexhaustible power.

The sight of Di Wu Ya standing before them made those who had intended to cause trouble feel that if they dared to lay another hand on Doctor Long, they would likely never live to see tomorrow’s sun.

Many who had only just noticed Di Wu Ya immediately scattered; those who could run, ran.

It was as though, in their eyes, that breathtakingly beautiful man was like the sky itself — and having nearly harmed the woman in his arms, they felt now as if that sky was about to come crashing down.

To say nothing of the other women present — even Tang Xiaohua lost herself staring at Di Wu Ya for a good long moment.

She furrowed her brow, drew a deep breath, and only then managed to steady herself.

“That insufferable girl — how can she be so fortunate! That is her fiancé, is it not?”

“Yes.” Qiaomu dropped that single word and leapt up, heading toward Jian Yi.

Many of the assassins and commoners had not been paid much to begin with. Naturally, none of them were willing to throw their lives away. Seeing that the odds were against them, nearly all who could leave had already dispersed.

Of those remaining in the area, apart from the two patients lying on their stretchers, only the people who had originally carried the patients here were still present.

Qiaomu came to Jian Yi’s side and asked quietly, “Are you all right?”

But Jian Yi’s gaze was fixed on the rooftop, and he paid Qiaomu no attention.

Qiaomu wasn’t sure whether he was looking at Jiu’er or at the Prince. She studied the sword wound on his rear shoulder for a moment, then pressed two points along the meridians around the injury.

Had the one approaching been anyone other than Qiaomu, Jian Yi would never have allowed someone to come so close.

With his blood meridians sealed, the bleeding from the wound on Jian Yi’s rear shoulder slowed considerably.

Xiao Yingtao went over and helped the child who had fallen to the ground back to his feet.

The older boy who had brandished a short blade at Feng Jiu’er was now restrained by one of the brothers. And not only him — several other assassins disguised as commoners were also being held under guard.

The family members of the patients who had not yet left were completely surrounded by the people Yu Jingfeng had brought.

The chaotic scene from just moments ago fell utterly silent all at once.

The ringleader of the group furrowed his brow and looked up once more at Feng Jiu’er.

“What exactly is this? You killed someone with your treatment, and now instead of taking responsibility, you intend to resolve things by force?”

Had he not known there were still many onlooking commoners nearby, the man likely wouldn’t have had the nerve to step forward and speak again.

Tang Xiaohua was just about to move forward when Qiaomu leapt across and appeared before the man, fixing her gaze on his eyes.

“May I ask — what relation are you to the patient?” Qiaomu asked in a steady voice.

In matters concerning them, she did not want the Yue family to become entangled — unless it was something they themselves could not handle.

Besides, the Prince was back now. There was nothing left for her to worry about.

“I am his son. And who are you?” The man stared at Qiaomu, his voice cold.

“You are his son?” Qiaomu glanced at the patient lying behind the man, then brought her gaze back to him, her manner growing several degrees colder. “The man is not yet dead. What kind of person curses their own father like that?”

“That’s right, Elder Brother — Father is still breathing, still breathing!” The other man who had been standing beside the stretcher called out in a hushed voice.

Feng Jiu’er withdrew her gaze from Jian Yi and swept it across the ringleader.

“Whatever poison they have been given has absolutely nothing to do with my medicine hall. If you continue to doubt that, hand the matter over to the authorities to investigate.”

“As a physician, it is my duty to inform you — both patients are in a critical condition right now, and I make no guarantees that I can save them.”

“However, I can say this: if they continue to be left here without treatment, they will certainly be dead within no more than half a quarter of an hour.”

“This is a clinic. Those who need treatment are welcome to come inside. Those who are here to cause trouble — don’t let the door hit you on the way out.”

Feng Jiu’er wrapped her arms around Di Wu Ya’s waist, and he held her close as the two descended together from the rooftop.

The two of them, like immortals descended from above, landed soundlessly on the ground.

Even with others standing between them, the family members gathered before the patients stumbled back two steps, overwhelmed by that presence.

“Elder Brother, please save Father — Elder Brother, please save Father.” The man kneeling beside the stretcher turned around and crawled on his knees toward the ringleader.

“Elder Brother, Father truly cannot hold on much longer. Save him first — please, Elder Brother.”

On the other stretcher nearby, the elderly woman had already fallen unconscious. Her family members, in the chaos of just moments ago, had all returned to kneel around the stretcher.

“Father, let us save Grandmother first.” A young girl clutched the elderly woman’s hand tightly and looked up at her father. “Perhaps this truly had nothing to do with them. What matters most right now is that Grandmother is…”

The girl’s voice was hoarse. When she bowed her head, tears fell onto the back of the elderly woman’s hand.

The family gathered around looked at the elderly woman lying there, then turned their gazes toward the head of the household.

Feng Jiu’er was not one to watch others die when she could help — but she needed to be given the chance to do so.

Seeing that Jian Yi had been injured, she was deeply pained. As for whether these two patients wanted her to save them, that was for them to decide.

Feng Jiu’er released her hold on Di Wu Ya and walked quickly toward Jian Yi.

“Jian Yi, are you all right?”

Jian Yi looked at her and shook his head. “I’m fine.”

It seemed as though, as long as she was unharmed, he would be fine as well.

Feng Jiu’er carefully took hold of his arm and glanced at his back.

She couldn’t see just how deep the sword wound was, but the blood had soaked through his clothing — and the sight of it made her heart ache.

“Come. Let me bandage that for you.”

Feng Jiu’er took Jian Yi by the arm and turned to head back inside, no longer intending to concern herself with what remained out here.

She knew full well that Jian Yi had been injured because of her.

Every last brother made way for Feng Jiu’er and Jian Yi. They all understood — Miss Jiu’er was truly furious right now.

As Feng Jiu’er passed by, the son of the elderly woman suddenly spun around and lunged toward her.

Jian Yi caught sight of the approaching figure and immediately pulled Feng Jiu’er back by the hand, shielding her behind him.

The man dropped to his knees before Jian Yi and kowtowed three times, his forehead striking the ground with resounding thuds.

“Doctor Long, since you are able to bring my mother back from the brink of death, please — I beg you — save her.”

The moment the man’s words fell, the family members behind him all turned and knelt as well. “Doctor Long, we beg you.”

On the other side, those gathered around the other stretcher were briefly stunned — then several of them rushed over and knelt behind the first group.

“Doctor Long, please save my father too.” The man who had been keeping vigil at the elderly man’s side spoke up.

“Doctor Long, we beg you!” His other family members all pleaded.

At this point, only the ringleader still stood where he had been.

He turned his head and watched for a moment before his expression shifted. “What are you all doing? She is the one who poisoned them! Why are you begging her? She should pay for this with her life — hurry up! Make her pay with her life!”
