Whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh…
A piercing, shrill sound tore through the void. Nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine silver divine arrows penetrated space itself, with killing intent that reached the heavens. The mere force of their aura was enough to cause many people to collapse and shatter on the spot โ to say nothing of the true power of the arrows.
Nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine arrows. Every single silver arrow hummed with Saint-level might. Who in the world could withstand this? It was an act of utter obliteration!
Boom!
The Great Yan Holy Land’s diamond ice stone figure suffered a direct assault. Every silver arrow struck its body like a massive hammer, deafening, with boundless force!
It was first sent flying horizontally by dozens of arrows. Then, thick and long silver bolts pierced clean through its body, drawing forth agonized screams.
This was a Saint-level puppet โ and yet it had suffered devastating damage within this world-shaking formation!
Before it, Dao markings covered every surface, and the chains of order intertwined โ strand after strand, line after line, ten thousand threads woven together, transformed into rune characters. Yet none of it could hold. Everything was shot through.
In the blinding glare, a dense rain of arrows fell, turning the stone figure into a porcupine, and then it exploded with a thunderous blast, dissolving into a surging wave of energy.
If not for the ancient formation arrays protecting everything, this stretch of primordial chaos divine soil would have been completely destroyed. Not a thing would remain. Such power was concentrated and vast beyond measure.
“Ah…” The sect master of the Great Yan Holy Land roared in fury. It was an enormous loss, and yet he could not change the outcome.
Nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine Saint-level arrows fired in unison โ enough to destroy several Saints outright. This killing ground had been prepared specifically for existences at that level.
Otherwise it would not be called a Divine Formation!
No one could say how many people from the Holy Lands had dissolved into sprays of light. People fell in great swathes. In the end, many did not even have time to cry out before they were annihilated en masse โ form and spirit both destroyed.
Boom!
The Black Emperor howled with rage. One hundred and eight main formation platforms, three hundred and sixty-five divine gates, blazing to life one after another. Three thousand six hundred kinds of great Dao light swept out together, intercepting the divine arrows.
This was a fierce and brutal confrontation. Those killing formations were of boundless power โ already capable of slaying Saints. Not just one, not two… but erupting in swathes, turning this place into a land where no life could endure!
Those without sacred artifact protection were doomed. One had to possess ancient Saint-level defenses โ and even then, only by combining forces could one hope to resist. This exchange of killing formations, this violent clash, produced ripples that no ordinary person could face. Face after vivid face turned to dry bone, reduced to ashes of calamity.
How many formation arrays did the assassin Divine Dynasties possess? This was the question everyone trembled to know, for all of them had been left behind by ancient Saints of old โ their destructive power was immense beyond measure.
The Black Emperor howled, hiding behind the Divine Maiden Furnace, barking furiously and activating formation platforms at the same time. All the materials it had accumulated over these years were being poured in. Its heart was bleeding โ it had spent everything, forged countless world-shaking formation arrays, and yet right now they were being consumed at a ferocious rate, the losses enormous.
“Cursed ancient Divine Dynasties, just how many killing Dao sacred artifacts do you have?! How is it that they are inexhaustible?!”
Deep within the celestial domain, the ancestral figures of the two Divine Dynasties were also stunned. These were the accumulated treasures of their predecessors through the ages โ killing Saint formation platforms left behind by their forebears, combined together, known as capable of shooting down the divine!
And yet, right now, one after another they were collapsing. Their faces twitched. The heartache was overwhelming, even more agonizing than what the Black Emperor felt.
Each formation platform was an ancient Saint killing array. Grouped together in such numbers, the combined effect was something that defied all common sense โ yet they were being extinguished in succession.
“Even if several Saints had entered the formation at this moment, they would have been destroyed by now. And yet these people blocked it?!”
“Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill!” The Black Emperor had gone berserk, taking the Divine Maiden Furnace and hurling it into the center of the formation with a tremendous clang.
Everyone’s faces turned pale. When the great black dog truly lost its mind, it was terrifying enough โ it had even thrown out its Great Sage weapon. Fortunately there were still other sacred artifacts providing defense, otherwise the situation would have been dire.
But the effect was dramatic. With an ancient Great Sage-level sacred artifact serving as the primary formation banner, the might it unleashed was enough to overturn heaven and earth. One by one, the enemy’s formation platforms collapsed, and their vast energy recoiled in a torrent!
“It’s gone mad โ truly gone mad!”
“This is a true annihilation war. The great wars of the dark era of ages past were nothing beyond this โ invoking so many ancient killing formation platforms.”
Both sides were stunned. Everyone was seized with a chill that could not be suppressed. This was without question a killing calamity. It was fortunate that both sides were evenly matched โ had one been even slightly weaker, they would have been instantly obliterated.
The formation runes finally dimmed. In all directions lay devastation โ nothing but fragments of divine materials. The precious gems consumed by the ancient formation platforms were beyond counting, and now all had become worthless refuse.
The vast killing intent slowly scattered. Boundless desolation and ancient sorrow arose โ the lament of ancient artifacts, all of them destroyed in a single battle.
A long time passed before people could gather themselves. Their faces were white as snow, their voices trembling.
“How many ancient Saint formation arrays were destroyed in total? Roughly… eighteen, perhaps?”
“That estimate is far too low. At the very least, more than twenty โ possibly as many as thirty-six!”
“There is no way to say for certain. It was far too terrifying โ a continuous, unbroken expanse, the light of calamity endless and blazing, too brilliant to count.”
Only those who had lived through it could truly understand. Otherwise, the terror of such a thing would remain merely a number โ not a trembling of the soul.
The ground was strewn with debris โ something rarely seen since antiquity. People fell silent. Holding their weapons and riding their war chariots, they continued forward.
In this day’s battle, having fought their way to such a state, there was no longer any road of retreat. Only by annihilating the two great ancient Divine Dynasties could anyone feel at ease.
Passing through the land of destruction, broken mountains, half-collapsed ridges, and withered ancient trees tens of thousands of years old began appearing along the road ahead.
No one spoke. Everyone was on guard.
Ye Fan, Ji Zi, and the Holy Prince walked at the very front, their will to fight soaring high. The others were mostly heavy-hearted, their moods differing from one person to the next.
Those like Ye Fan and Dongfang Ye โ the bold ones โ had come this time primarily to temper themselves, and had consistently declined to ask the several ancient Saints stationed in reserve to act.
But the Great Yan Holy Land and others who had suffered devastating losses were inwardly bleeding, wishing nothing more than to immediately urge Wei Yi to stake everything and fight the ancient Divine Dynasties to the death.
The Holy Ape stood holding a black divine iron rod, looking down on everyone, golden fur gleaming, utterly domineering. “What is there to pull a mournful face about? The two Divine Dynasties are the perfect whetstones. Kill to your heart’s content today โ take another step forward on the road of cultivation!”
Whoosh!
A terrifying sword light appeared, piercing toward the back of the Holy Ape’s skull โ ruthless and heartless, appearing without warning, silent and soundless, a one-strike kill.
This concealed assassination technique was too formidable โ it had nearly eluded everyone’s perception. The Holy Prince dodged it with only a hair’s breadth to spare.
Qi Luo reacted in an instant, striking forward. Yet a streak of blood light materialized on his back, carving a horrifying wound. It was a feint โ drawing Qi Luo’s attention toward the Holy Ape while the true target was him.
Qi Luo was wounded. He did not even furrow his brow. He vanished on the spot. A splatter of blood fell, carving a bloodstained scar through another expanse of void.
Qi Luo had detected the enemy. He returned the strike. The two exchanged blows in a manner utterly strange and formless โ no silhouette, no shadow.
Splatter!
Blood rained down from high in the sky. Over ten powerful figures of the Ji Family screamed โ unable to dodge, they were turned to dried bones on the spot by a Saint’s blood.
“Ah…”
A piercing, anguished scream rang out. The sect master of the Great Yan Holy Land’s head rolled free, his eyes still wide open in fury. His headless body toppled into a pool of blood.
His primal spirit had only just burst upward when it was pierced through by a blood-red killing sword โ annihilated on the spot.
“Kill…!”
The crowd erupted in roars, in frightened screams. Countless executioners appeared โ close at hand, concealed within the void, launching assassinations.
Many cried out in terror as foreheads were pierced, dying on the spot. The trump cards among the assassins had been deployed!
“Where do you think you’re going!”
Li Tian, Dongfang Ye, and the others roared, launching a full-scale counter, charging forward in a furious assault. They had studied the Heavenly Court’s killing great arts and held no fear of these assassination secret techniques.
“Lurking in the shadows โ die!”
The Holy Prince let out a thunderous roar. Golden radiance blazed from his entire body. His form was as though cast from gold. He swung his great rod, and slammed one elderly assassin flying out into the open.
This was the same person who had just slaughtered the sect master of the Great Yan Holy Land โ a King of the Dao-Severing realm, outstandingly powerful, having killed nearly a hundred people in a single instant.
Without any suspense, in the span of a single breath, this trump card assassin was beaten by the monkey with a rod until every bone and sinew was broken, reduced to a pool of wreckage.
Splatter, splatter, splatter…
Blood radiance flashed in rapid succession. Ji Zi unleashed his power. His Void Great Cleavage Art swept in all directions, tearing apart numerous assassins, reducing them to streams of blood โ not even bones remained.
Ye Fan’s expression was cold. Golden blood energy across his entire body formed into a dragon-like tornado, physically drawing out a Great Perfection King-level assassin, and then with a single punch blew him apart in midair โ simple, brutal, shards of bone and sprays of blood bursting outward.
The Holy Maiden of the Purple Palace finally revealed the terrifying extent of her power before the world. United with the great Dao, every movement she made moved the laws of heaven and earth. She forced an entire group of assassins out into the open, and with a single sweep of her pale hand, dissolved them all into Dao light.
Ye Fan, Ji Zi, and the Holy Prince moved together, charging toward Qi Luo’s position, all of them unleashing fierce and powerful strikes.
Qi Luo too let out a long cry. The blood-converting blade radiance stretched ten thousand zhang long, cleaving heaven and earth, cutting toward the opponent.
Boom!
In that terrifying confrontation, the Human World’s Holy Slayer retreated, leaving the battlefield of his own accord, actively withdrawing โ leaving behind only a trail of blood.
This was an ancient Holy Slayer. He had attained the Dao before heaven and earth changed, unfathomably profound. Moving through ten thousand armies as if entering a place with no one to oppose him โ departing was not difficult.
He retreated toward the celestial domain’s exit, attempting to break out. But several surges of Saint-level might rolled in like the ocean, forcing him back!
“The Holy Slayer is fleeing โ it means they have lost their nerve! Kill โ let not one escape!” People from the Holy Lands shouted. Morale surged to a peak.
Ye Fan’s heart sank, however. This Holy Slayer was ruthless and decisive โ clearly not trying to escape at all, but probing exactly how many ancient Saints had come. Having confirmed what he needed, the man turned around and charged back toward the depths of the celestial domain.
“Kill…!”
Battle cries shook the heavens. The entire celestial domain surged. The Holy Lands’ war chariots thundered forward, rolling through the sky. Sacred artifacts stirred to life, all of them striking ahead in unison.
In the fighting that followed, they dismantled several more ancient killing formation platforms and finally reached the deepest point. There, two stretches of terrifying ancient halls came into view.
Killing intent emanated from them like a sea. White bones gleamed with a radiance that no passage of time could erode. The vast expanse of palaces and halls had all been constructed from bone.
At the very center of each set of palace halls stood a particularly distinctive bone structure, with the most intimidating glow of all. The skulls of kings were there, and the dry bones of Saints โ radiant and crystalline. The carpets within the halls had been flayed from the flesh of Saints!
“A group of insignificant maggots daring to challenge the dragon โ I admire your courage. But I cannot help but mock your foolishness!”
An imposing voice rang out from the bone halls โ ancient and world-weary, with a domineering force, saturated with the arrogance of one who acknowledged no equal.
Qi Luo roared: “What dragon โ to have its lair destroyed and be forced to hide beyond the heavens! Hell and the Human World, two great ancient Divine Dynasties, are on the verge of annihilation. And you still posture in your self-styled dignity? Today, all of you โ die!”
He had lost seven children. Every single one had died for the sake of these two Divine Dynasties. Blood and life had been the price paid to reach this moment. His sorrow and fury had reached an extreme that left no room for words.
“You are a Holy Slayer. So am I. What say you โ shall the two of us settle things between ourselves today, in a battle between Holy Slayers?” The aged voice rang out, cold and merciless.
He had attained the Dao over a thousand years ago. His killing intent overflowed, his power terrifying beyond measure. But Qi Luo was no ordinary person โ he agreed on the spot, intending to challenge this veteran Holy Slayer with raw force.
Then another gaunt silhouette appeared. The Holy Slayer of the Human World materialized once more, looking down on the assembled crowd with disdain, seemingly utterly unconcerned with however many ancient Saints might be waiting at the entrance.
He swept his gaze over the people of the Holy Lands, then fixed it on the Holy Prince, then shifted it to Ji Zi, and finally let his torch-like eyes come to rest on Ye Fan.
“You may as well kill yourselves. I will give you the kindness of a swift death.”
The Holy Slayer of the Human World pointed at Ye Fan, Ji Zi, and the Holy Prince, and said without emotion, holding no fear whatsoever at the fact that his enemies had broken in.
“No matter who comes, it will do no good. Dreaming of annihilating the Human World and Hell? Foolish fantasies. What so-called Human Clan Holy Body? What so-called Ancient Emperor’s Son? All of you are maggots. Every last one of you will die!”
His words scraped across everyone’s skin like blades โ ice-cold and glacial. Quite a few cultivators from the Holy Lands could not endure the sound waves of a Holy Slayer’s voice, and their bodies tore apart. Blood flowed in streams. Their spiritual consciousness was extinguished too.
