Ling Luo remained unaware of Yue Liangze’s change as she murmured on his back, finally falling asleep without noticing the Suffering Flower’s shimmer.
She saw black energy soaring from the Moon Palace, the seal beneath the snow mountains broken, and thousands of demons emerging into the world. Cultivators looked desperately at the lightning flashing in the sky and the contemptuous expressions of the Demon Sovereigns gazing down upon the mortal realm.
Many events began with the breaking of the Moon Palace’s seal.
On the day Jiang Miao collaborated with the Bone Demon to break the seal, Ling Luo was still in North Court City. From a distance, she could see dark clouds pressing down over the Moon Palace, lightning flashing, and terrifying demonic energy spreading rapidly.
Demons released after a thousand years excitedly wreaked havoc everywhere. Ling Luo fought her way to the Moon Palace, where she saw Yue Liangze standing with his sword at the mountain gate, blocking several Demon Sovereigns from leaving.
That night, she and Yue Liangze stopped most of the demons, but many still escaped.
This led to the later chaos in the mortal realm and the war between the two realms.
Ling Luo hadn’t personally witnessed the breaking of the seal, but now in the Suffering Flower’s memory, she saw Yue Liangze standing beneath the snow mountain, below which lay an enormous seal covering the entire mountain range.
Mu Sujing stood at the center of the seal, blood flowing continuously from his wrist onto the seal’s patterns, spreading and dissipating.
His face was pale as he turned to look at Yue Liangze, who approached with a sword in hand, and said calmly, “I can’t hold it anymore.”
Yue Liangze: “This isn’t your fault.”
Mu Sujing clenched his fists, letting the blood flow faster.
Looking down at the gradually shattering seal patterns, he said, “I never thought there would be a day when I’d willingly stand here. To be honest, I don’t care about the world and its people.”
“If the seal breaks, it breaks. If demons come out and cause trouble, powerful cultivators like you will deal with them. What does it have to do with me?”
Yue Liangze thrust Wusheng into the seal to prevent it from shattering further, while forming hand seals to repair the seal with ritual laws. “Then come out,” he said.
But Mu Sujing didn’t move.
The power from his spiritual meridians was continuously flowing into the seal, yet it couldn’t hold back the surging demonic energy below.
Thousands of demons were roaring as they broke through the seal to return to the mortal realm.
“When I was young and almost burned to death by humans who thought I was a monster, a cultivator named Qing Shun happened to pass by and saved me,” Mu Sujing pressed his hand against the ground and said softly. “Without him, I would have died long ago.”
“At the Primordial Golden Luan Pool Banquet in the Western Sea, I accidentally overheard people discussing this cultivator and learned that he had betrayed his sect by slaughtering fellow disciples, and was captured and imprisoned by his sect.”
Yue Liangze asked, “Qing Shun from the Eastern Island’s Tianji?”
Mu Sujing nodded, “Do you know him?”
“I do. So you were the one he saved. He mentioned this to me before,” Yue Liangze struggled to contain the seal, his brows slightly furrowed as he focused on the flow of the seal’s power, not noticing the joy in Mu Sujing’s eyes.
He smiled for the first time.
The smile was awkward and unsightly, as if he couldn’t help expressing joy yet was habitually restraining himself.
Mu Sujing: “If possible, could you convey my thanks to him?”
Yue Liangze: “You can tell him yourself.”
Mu Sujing very clumsily made a joke: “That’ll have to be in the next life then.”
When Yue Liangze looked at him, black energy surged skyward, engulfing Mu Sujing.
He raised Wusheng to cut through and rescue Mu Sujing, but was refused.
“I can’t get out. Even if I wanted to leave, this weakened seal would stop me. It needs power to sustain it,” Mu Sujing slowly raised his head behind the black mist, appearing to want to say something more, but there was no time.
The Moon Palace’s seal collapsed entirely, thousands of demons emerged, and the first one they devoured was him.
The black mist transformed into wavering black flames. The human silhouette gradually blurred and disappeared, leaving not a trace of spiritual energy in the world.
Yue Liangze’s hand tightened on his sword, his expression gloomy, brows lowered.
The cultivators who arrived later saw the black demonic energy soaring to the sky and fell into despair.
The Moon Palace’s Young Master died beneath the snow mountain.
And the Moon Palace’s Master died atop the lofty Moon Tower.
Before her death, she was covered in blood, kneeling and coughing blood, yet she smiled when she saw the demonic energy surging skyward.
The Bone Demon said, “You want me to use the Death Mist Gate to go and awaken the demons in the seal, then form a contract with the thousand demons, so that after breaking the seal, they must kill all the Mu and Jiang family members present before they can leave the Moon Palace?”
Jiang Miao: “Demons don’t keep their word, but ritual laws can force them to comply. That’s why I desperately wanted to gain power—even if I could only learn this one ritual law.”
The Bone Demon looked down at her: “You won’t survive either.”
“What’s the point of living anymore?” Jiang Miao smiled. “Let’s all go to hell together.”
The Bone Demon shook his head. When she learned that as long as she had demonic blood, there would be a risk of awakening demons, and she would never be accepted by the cultivation world, she had already given up hope for survival.
“The Flying Thunder Pearl is yours,” Jiang Miao had killed Mu Jingyi and taken it from him. “Do me one last favor.”
The Bone Demon accepted the Flying Thunder Pearl, in a good mood and willing to bestow a little kindness on this human, so he asked patiently, “What favor?”
Jiang Miao coughed blood, struggling to take something out from the cabinet beside her: “For him.”
The Bone Demon looked at what she handed over, his expression unfathomable. After a while, he accepted it.
The Moon Tower platform was covered with corpses. After the Bone Demon left, Jiang Miao painfully stepped over the bodies and sat down by the star plate.
She watched as lamps lit up across the Moon Palace, the last of her spiritual energy flowing from her fingertips.
Soon, the woman closed her eyes.
That night, the Moon Palace suffered heavy losses.
The three great families were almost annihilated.
Grudges and resentments entangled endlessly, with no day of conclusion.
Now, the thunderous, lightning-filled weather before Yue Liangze’s eyes overlapped with the sky in Ling Luo’s dream.
As he walked, he suddenly noticed a ritual pattern flashing among the dark stone path beneath his feet.
Yue Liangze stopped and looked down.
One ritual pattern after another appeared and spread, guiding his gaze toward the snow mountain range behind him, beneath the dark clouds.
Someone was attempting to disturb the restrictive seal left by the Founding Palace Master beneath the snow mountain.
Ling Luo on his back woke up, just in time to see the ritual patterns appearing on the ground.
Ling Luo rubbed her eyes as Yue Liangze said, “I thought you were asleep.”
“I did sleep for a while,” Ling Luo said. “Just a short nap.”
The Suffering Flower contains Yue Liangze’s lifetime of memories, but not every memory includes her.
Ling Luo felt she could see Yue Liangze from his death to his birth.
Yue Liangze looked at the ritual patterns on the ground and said, “Someone is breaking the seal.”
Ling Luo lightly patted his shoulder, signaling him to put her down: “It’s the Bone Demon. He’s working with Jiang Miao. He was supposed to save Jiang Miao when she was in trouble, but tonight he was called to break the seal, so he couldn’t get to Jiang Miao in time.”
Yue Liangze set her down and turned to look at her with a deep gaze.
Ling Luo blinked, “Why are you looking at me like that?”
Yue Liangze asked, “How do you know all this?”
“Because I’m more capable than you,” Ling Luo smiled mischievously.
Yue Liangze had no retort to this. He took out the Flying Cloud Listener to send a message to Bai Cang, informing him of the changes at the Moon Palace.
Ling Luo stood beside him, making cynical remarks: “It’s too late. The ritual patterns are already appearing. He used the Death Mist Gate to enter the barrier and told those demons that the Founding Palace Master was long dead. ‘What are you still afraid of? Quickly band together and break through the seal to come out. I and the Moon Palace’s Young Master are waiting outside to support you with power. The Founding Palace Master’s power has long weakened to the point of being defenseless. If you can’t break out now, aren’t you losing face as demons?’ Then the other demons felt they couldn’t lose face, so they united to break through the seal.”
She described it so vividly, as if she had personally seen and heard it all.
Yue Liangze shook his head helplessly.
“I’ll go check,” Yue Liangze put away the Flying Cloud Listener and turned to walk toward the snow mountains.
Ling Luo grabbed him: “What are you going to do?”
Yue Liangze said, “I can’t let those demons truly break through the seal.”
Ling Luo slowly released her grip.
She wasn’t the Ling Luo of the past.
She had no heart to save the world.
Even this trip to the Moon Palace wasn’t about saving anyone.
It was only to prevent Chu Yi from repeating the same mistakes. Beyond that, she didn’t care about anyone else’s fate.
Jiang Miao would die.
She saved Jiang Miao only to let her die in the way she wished.
Mu Sujing would die.
This, Ling Luo truly didn’t know.
In her previous life, her impression of Mu Sujing was limited to him being gloomy and taciturn, with a villainous face that rejected others’ approaches before he even spoke.
She never expected such a person would voluntarily help maintain the seal in the end.
Some people learn to do evil and can’t stop, but others learn to do good and can no longer harden their hearts.
“The disturbance at the snow mountains will alert the Moon Palace people. You go back and check first. I’ve told my senior brother, and he’ll come over,” Yue Liangze stroked Ling Luo’s head.
Ling Luo pouted, “Why call your senior brother but not let me go with you? Am I worse than your senior brother?”
“There might be danger,” Yue Liangze explained. “Besides, didn’t you want to help Jiang Miao?”
Ling Luo: “She can’t compare to you.”
Yue Liangze’s lips curved slightly at her words.
Ling Luo’s jade communication device sounded with a message from Chu Yi.
With such unusual phenomena at the Moon Palace, Chu Yi felt something was wrong. Rising for a night patrol, he discovered his junior sister’s room door open and her gone, giving him a headache. He sent a message asking where she had run off to.
Chu Yi feared Ling Luo would wander around, and Ling Luo feared Chu Yi would wander around.
She ultimately returned to the Moon Palace first.
At this time, the Moon Palace was half-lit with lamps. It was late at night, and despite the bad weather with thunder and lightning, many people didn’t take it seriously and slept as usual.
On the way back, Jiang Miao said to Mu Sujing, “Jiang Jun went to North Court City to get something for me, but others might discover him when he returns. Why don’t you help me meet him?”
Mu Sujing turned to look at her.
Jiang Miao smiled slightly, “You don’t want to?”
Mu Sujing asked softly, “Where should I meet him?”
Jiang Miao told him the address and quietly watched as Mu Sujing walked toward the mountain gate.
Disciples on night patrol passed by and bowed to her, bringing Jiang Miao’s thoughts back to the present.
She strolled toward the Moon Tower, where Mu Jingyi was waiting for her with others at the top of the tower.
Those who wanted to kill Jiang Miao tonight weren’t just the Jiang family members.
On her way back to the Moon Palace, Ling Luo sent a message to Mu Sujing, asking where he was.
Mu Sujing obediently told her about Jiang Miao asking him to go to North Court City to get something.
Ling Luo was stunned after reading this.
Jiang Miao was kind to him, actually sending this Mu family member out of the Moon Palace before taking action.
Was she treating him like a son?
So Ling Luo said to Mu Sujing, “Then buy me some food on your way back.”
She sent Mu Sujing a long list of snacks, making him stay longer in North Court City and not return so quickly.
Walking down the mountain path, Mu Sujing was dumbfounded but couldn’t refuse. He walked while mentally calculating what he needed to buy.
As soon as Ling Luo entered the Moon Palace area, she saw ritual light flashing from the highest point of the Moon Tower and narrowed her eyes.
The ritual light from the Moon Tower attracted many people’s attention.
Chu Yi bumped into Bai Cang, who was also going out. Seeing Bai Cang out so late, he immediately understood that his junior sister had gone off with Bai Cang’s junior brother.
“Brother Chu hasn’t slept either?” Bai Cang yawned and invited, “Would you like to go to the snow mountains together? My junior brother says the seal there is being destroyed. If thousands of demons come out, it will be terrible.”
Chu Yi: “…”
“The Moon Palace’s seal is in trouble, yet none of the Moon Palace people have reacted?” He replied while sending a message to Ling Luo, “Are you at the snow mountains with that Sacred Sword Sect boy?”
“It seems the one breaking the seal is someone from the Moon Palace,” Bai Cang smiled. “For something like this, we should call Immortal Master Triple Breath to join us.”
Chu Yi: “My master went to North Court City tonight and isn’t at the Moon Palace.”
Bai Cang: “Alright, then I’ll go check first.”
“Let’s go together,” Chu Yi said.
Ling Luo stood at the base of the Moon Tower, looking up. The entire area was covered by a barrier that cut off all sounds between inside and outside.
Wu Xu was guarding the base of the Moon Tower.
Wu Xu was deep in thought when he saw Ling Luo and was startled, warning, “What are you doing here?”
“So you’re down here,” Ling Luo said. “I thought you’d be up there with them killing Jiang Miao.”
Wu Xu’s expression turned ugly at her words, and he warned in a low voice, “Don’t talk nonsense here.”
Ling Luo spread her hands, her smile holding a hint of provocation: “Why are you panicking? Many people know about your Moon Palace families’ entanglements. Everyone just saves face for your Founding Palace Master and doesn’t speak about it openly. Look at what you’ve all done, completely against the old man’s intentions, turning perfectly good people into something less than beasts.”
Wu Xu reached for the sword hilt at his waist, his words filled with anger: “What do you know?”
Ling Luo also gripped Sui Wu, white mist spreading.
“Not much, just enough,” Ling Luo said carelessly. “The Jiang family is at least descended from your Founding Palace Master’s wife. The Founding Palace Master cherished his wife deeply, even willing to take his own life so his departed wife could see the cherry blossoms at Primordial. He only forbade the Jiang family from cultivating, not ordering you to humiliate and abuse them.”
Wu Xu could no longer contain his anger and drew his sword to attack her, shouting, “What would an outsider like you know! Simply forbidding cultivation cannot prevent that demon from reviving! That demon once slaughtered tens of thousands of people—tens of thousands! The Founding Palace Master paid an enormous price to seal it, even losing his wife because of it. Who would dare or be willing to let such a demon have the chance to revive?!”
Their swords clashed, creating a fierce wind that swept across a large area.
Wu Xu’s attacks were extremely fast, but Ling Luo could counter every move while still mocking him: “Are you that afraid of demons?”
“After nearly a thousand years, have you made no progress at all? Has your cultivation gone to the dogs? Not counting your Moon Palace, the cultivation world today isn’t the same as it was a thousand years ago! How many ritual laws and myriad techniques are stronger now than when the Founding Palace Master was alive? Is that demon so powerful that you’re too afraid to even think of ways to defeat it?!”
Ling Luo’s sword swept across, forcing Wu Xu back. He staggered, steadied himself, and halted, only to see Ling Luo appear instantly before him with another slash, which he hurriedly blocked.
“The Founding Palace Master’s strength remains unmatched to this day. That demon made him pay such a great price—who do you think would have the confidence to kill this demon?!” Wu Xu gritted his teeth in rebuttal.
Sui Wu dispersed into a white mist, filling the area. The mist, like her voice, carried a hint of coldness: “It seems your Moon Palace is truly a nest of waste. With so many elders and thousands of disciples, are you saying only one specific person can kill this demon?”
“If this demon truly revives and the Moon Palace can’t handle it, there’s still Eastern Island’s Tianji, Western Sea’s Primordial, Southern Mountain’s Snow River, the Sacred Sword Sect—the entire cultivation world! What demon can’t be killed?!”
Ling Luo’s blade pressed down, her bright black eyes full of contempt, making Wu Xu feel extremely frustrated and humiliated.
“You never thought about how to kill this demon, but instead kept suppressing the Jiang family,” she sneered. “All because of that supreme-grade spirit bone. Over these years, the Mu family’s extraordinary spiritual power has all come from this supreme-grade spirit bone, hasn’t it? That’s the real reason you’ve continued for a thousand years without truly resolving the problem!”
“You…” Wu Xu wanted to curse but didn’t know how to refute it because Ling Luo’s words had shaken him. The sound of clashing swords was piercing, but Sui Wu suppressed him. Ling Luo stared at him and said, “The Moon Palace’s ritual laws are not the best in the world, and you who inherited the Founding Palace Master’s power haven’t inherited an ounce of his integrity. You’re all just wastes driven by selfish desires, cowards.”
Wu Xu’s mind exploded at her words. The questions he had been avoiding and deeply thinking about for years were mercilessly pointed out by Ling Luo. His sword techniques became disordered and were forcefully cut down by Sui Wu. His long sword flew from his hand, and he fell heavily to the ground with the white mist-covered sword pointing at his throat.
Ling Luo looked down at him, her expression full of disdain and disgust.
Wu Xu’s throat went dry, and he no longer had the strength to summon his sword back to continue fighting.
“Mu Jingyi wants to use the Flying Thunder Pearl to revive the Founding Palace Master because you grow weaker with each generation and no longer have enough power to guard the snow mountain seal. He doesn’t dare let the seal truly collapse and release the thousands of sealed demons because he can’t lose face,” Ling Luo said arrogantly. “Acting only for the sake of face—how foolish.”
Wu Xu clenched his fists, took a deep breath, and tried to face Ling Luo’s penetrating eyes: “You even know we want to revive the Founding Palace Master. Then do you know why so many people have come tonight to kill Jiang Miao?”
Killing Jiang Miao, who had no cultivation techniques, didn’t require such a grand formation.
Ling Luo didn’t ask, waiting for him to continue.
“Because using the Flying Thunder Pearl to revive the Founding Palace Master failed,” Wu Xu said, each word difficult. “The Flying Thunder Pearl reflected Jiang Miao’s face, meaning as long as Jiang Miao doesn’t die, the Founding Palace Master won’t live.”
Wu Xu slowly raised his eyes to look at her. “Do you know what this means?”
The Founding Palace Master was under a terrible curse called “Severed White Head.” Those under this curse can never meet their beloved in the same lifetime.
When you live, I die; when I die, you live.
There is no cure to this day.
If Jiang Miao’s death was needed to revive the Founding Palace Master, then she must be the reincarnation of the Founding Palace Master’s deeply beloved wife.
The result revealed by the Flying Thunder Pearl was too ironic for Mu Jingyi and the others.
Yet the Mu family members still resolved to revive the Founding Palace Master.
Ling Luo looked at him and laughed upon hearing this: “And they still want to revive the Founding Palace Master? Mu Jingyi truly isn’t afraid of death.”
“Because the snow mountain seal’s power is gradually weakening, he has no choice,” Wu Xu, seeing Ling Luo show no sign of shock, had already given up. “The thousands of demons beneath the snow mountain frighten him. Even if she is the reincarnation of the Founding Palace Master’s wife, he won’t give up.”
Ling Luo again expressed contempt: “Truly worthless.”
“I admit… what you said earlier… is correct, but there are tens of thousands of demons sealed beneath the snow mountain. That would be a disaster for the entire Moon Palace, no, the entire cultivation world!” Wu Xu said solemnly. “If those thousands of demons emerge, what about the mortal realm? Those without spiritual meridians, unable to cultivate—ordinary people are demons’ favorite targets!”
Ling Luo was about to speak when she heard Mu Sujing’s voice from behind: “What are you two doing here?”
Wu Xu’s face darkened further—anyone but Mu Sujing should see him in such a pathetic state!
So Wu Xu quickly avoided the blade, flipped up, and stood properly.
Ling Luo didn’t bother with him either, turning back with bristling anger: “Why are you back? Did I ask you to come back?!”
Mu Sujing was so startled by her fierce tone that he halted his steps and stood obediently, hesitantly answering, “You told me to buy things…”
Ling Luo: “Have you bought everything that you dare to return? Huh?”
Indeed, Mu Sujing hadn’t finished shopping. He honestly said, “I calculated that there was too much to buy, and I didn’t bring enough money, so I came back to get more.”
Ling Luo: “…”
She said sinisterly, “Don’t you know how to buy on credit? If the Young Master of the Moon Palace gives his name, who would dare not sell to you? Not everyone in North Court City is as stupid as you. The Moon Palace is right here and won’t run away. What’s wrong with buying on credit tonight and paying tomorrow morning? If that doesn’t work, don’t you know about pawnshops? Don’t you have any jade, gold, or silverware on you? Even just that sword of yours could be pawned for quite a sum, and you can redeem it later. Are you short on money? Huh?”
Mu Sujing: “…”
Daily self-isolation.
He turned expressionlessly and said, “I’ll go buy them.”
He had barely walked two steps when the barrier around the Moon Tower broke.
All three of them looked up toward the top, only to see black energy suddenly soaring into the sky from the direction of the snow mountains.
Thick demonic energy spread from the direction of the snow mountains.
The seal was on the verge of collapse.
Wu Xu immediately looked at Mu Sujing: “Mu Sujing, you…”
Before he could finish, Ling Luo grabbed Mu Sujing and flew up to the Moon Tower on her sword.
Wu Xu frowned deeply and followed.
The Moon Tower was filled with the smell of blood.
The people lying on the ground were all in a terrible state.
Jiang Miao had her back to the three who arrived at the Moon Tower. She was injured, her clothes covered in blood, and was looking down at Mu Jingyi’s face, who had died with his eyes open.
Hearing the sound, she turned but stumbled and couldn’t stand steadily. She reached out to support herself on the star plate before standing properly. Seeing Ling Luo and Mu Sujing, she was slightly startled, then slid down the star plate, unable to support herself.
Mu Sujing was stunned by the scene before him.
Jiang Miao looked at the spiritual energy flowing between her five fingers and laughed softly, “So this is what it feels like to have power. It’s indeed wonderful, making one reluctant to lose it.”
Ling Luo stood in place without moving, just glancing at her with a calm expression.
Wu Xu, who had caught up, saw the blood-covered platform and his temple throbbed violently. His hand holding the sword trembled. Seeing Jiang Miao full of spiritual power, he was stunned and momentarily forgot to tell Mu Sujing to go to the sealed site, instead asking Jiang Miao, “How can you use ritual laws?!”
Jiang Miao wiped the blood from her face. She was in a good mood and didn’t mind explaining a bit more: “I inscribed the memory of power in my blood, then gave this blood to a demon. Because I drank marrow-cleansing medicine daily, my body had some resistance. I didn’t need much time, just this one night for the demon to return the blood with the inscribed power to me.”
Wu Xu was stunned.
He truly hadn’t thought Jiang Miao would go to such lengths.
Mu Sujing said softly, “You actually… collaborated with demons?”
“At this point, it doesn’t matter who I collaborate with,” Jiang Miao smiled and looked toward the snow mountains, where several more black energy columns had surged into the sky. “The seal is about to break, thousands of demons will emerge. Do you think the Jiang and Mu family members left in the Moon Palace will be enough for them to kill?”
Wu Xu’s expression darkened: “What exactly have you done?”
But Jiang Miao looked back at Mu Sujing: “Why did you have to come back to die?”
Ling Luo was speechless.
The reason for Mu Sujing’s return was truly hard to accept.
The Jiang Miao before them was too unfamiliar, and Mu Sujing didn’t know how to face her, remaining silent.
Jiang Miao continued, “While there’s still time, leave quickly. I’ve made a contract with the thousands of demons. Unless they kill all the Jiang and Mu family members present, they cannot leave the Moon Palace.”
Ling Luo said, “That demon deceived you. Your contract with the thousands of demons is bound by your spiritual power. Once you die, they can leave even without killing everyone.”
Jiang Miao was startled to hear this.
Ling Luo looked at her: “I told you before, don’t trust the Bone Demon’s words too much.”
A black shape materialized behind Jiang Miao, and the man laughed softly: “The little girl is clever, but what difference does it make? With thousands of demons emerging, even without this contractual constraint, they will still go on a killing spree.”
“Is that so?” Jiang Miao coughed blood, her face pale, her spiritual power dissipating quickly.
Ling Luo narrowed her eyes at the finally-appeared Bone Demon, while Wu Xu and Mu Sujing beside her became alert.
The Bone Demon wore a black cloak. He bent down to take the Flying Thunder Pearl from Jiang Miao’s hand and said unhurriedly, “The evil in human nature is no less than that of demons. You’re about to be free. Those who once bullied you won’t escape.”
Jiang Miao coughed blood and laughed.
Wu Xu couldn’t tolerate a demon’s nonsense and attacked with his sword, but the Bone Demon easily countered.
Mu Sujing said, “That seal…”
“Even if we sent ten of you, it wouldn’t help in a full collapse situation. Don’t think about impossible things,” Ling Luo said expressionlessly. “Be more realistic.”
Mu Sujing dared not argue.
Jiang Miao laughed again and looked at Mu Sujing with difficulty, saying, “Come here.”
Mu Sujing silently approached.
“Open it,” Jiang Miao gestured for him to look at the drawer beside her. “The things inside are for you.”
Mu Sujing obeyed and opened the drawer, which contained a land deed and a key.
Jiang Miao spoke very softly, “Remember when you first told Mu Jingyi about me learning ritual laws, and I asked you if that mountain was beautiful?”
“The next day, I sent people to that mountain, intending to capture that old man to threaten you, but discovered Mu Jingyi had gotten there first.”
“At that time, he was still teaching you not to have weaknesses while demanding your obedience. But he looked down on ordinary people and was thus negligent in his watch, allowing my people to rescue the old man.”
Jiang Miao covered her mouth as blood ran down her sleeve. Her spiritual power was almost gone.
Mu Sujing held the land deed paper. Though just a thin sheet, it felt as heavy as a mountain.
Jiang Miao said, “He was settled in a lively town with a nice house. The key is for the front door. The old man has a habit of locking the front door.”
“I wasn’t planning to give it to you, but I didn’t expect you would ruin Mu Jingyi’s plans because of those slave girls. I was very happy about that, so this is your reward.”
Wu Xu, who had been fighting the Bone Demon, heard this and gritted his teeth but silently stopped without turning back.
Tonight, the sky had changed.
The Moon Palace had changed too.
The veins on the back of Mu Sujing’s hand, holding the key, stood out prominently as he looked down at Jiang Miao.
Jiang Miao said, “You should still live in the mountains. Crowded places don’t suit you.”
After she finished speaking, she looked back toward the snow mountains.
The seal collapsed and disintegrated. Black energy soared into the sky, even obscuring the thunder and lightning behind the clouds at that moment.
The emergence of thousands of demons was now inevitable.
Seeing this, Jiang Miao was satisfied.
She looked at Ling Luo and said, “Many of the ritual laws I just used were taught by the Spirit Bird.”
Ling Luo: “Then I taught them.”
Jiang Miao smiled, “If only I had met you earlier.”
Then she shook her head lightly, “No, it would be good enough to meet you in the next life.”
Ling Luo bent down and wiped the blood from her face.
Jiang Miao closed her eyes, her spiritual power exhausted.
Since she was very young, Jiang Miao had dreamed of a man’s back.
This silhouette was sometimes blurry, sometimes clear, giving her feelings of warmth like the morning sun, and also the coldness of sinking underwater.
Before her marriage, she would still ponder the man in her dreams. After marriage, all her thoughts were occupied by hatred, and she rarely dreamed anymore.
Now, as her consciousness dispersed from the world, Jiang Miao finally saw the man in her dreams turn around.
It was a face of tears.
