Heaven-stabilizing treasure?
Stopping his steps, Li Ye turned his head, confusion flashing in his eyes.
Western Queen Mother had temporarily managed the Nine Heavens’ affairs for several hundred years. Recently, the Kan clan’s grasp for power had been increasingly evident, with much authority already transferred to Kan Ze’s hands. The prophetic Celestial Mechanism Lock had been destroyed, and now the heaven-stabilizing treasure should be the Nine Heavens Jade that could seize the power of the Five Elements.
This object was indeed exceptionally suitable for Er’er. It could assist her cultivation and better balance her Five Elements immortal energy. But what Li Ye couldn’t understand was: why would Kan Ze be willing to give it away?
Er’er was also surprised. She turned to look at Kan Ze, curiously asking: “If the heaven-stabilizing treasure is given to me, what will your ruler of the Nine Heavens use to stabilize the Nine Heavens?”
Kan Ze smiled gently, stepping forward with the demeanor of a gentleman: “If the heaven-stabilizing treasure is given to you, then you will be the ruler of the Nine Heavens.”
Er’er: “…”
Looking down at her still-undeveloped physical body, then at the Supreme God before her with his profound immortal power, she laughed dryly: “Have you gone mad?”
How could she, a little immortal who had just been reborn, become the ruler of the Nine Heavens? How would she command respect?
…
…
Kan Ze raised his eyebrow, giving Li Ye a deeply meaningful glance: “What is there to fear? He will protect you anyway. Whoever disagrees, he will surely kill them.”
Er’er’s eyebrows twisted like caterpillars: “I’m carrying so many things, they’re very heavy. I don’t have time to joke with you here.”
“I’m not joking either.” His smile fading, Kan Ze gazed at her with eyes clear as water: “You’ve forgotten, I understand you better than anyone.”
Before Er’er could react to these words, Li Ye’s Phoenix Slaughter Blade had already sliced through the air. Brilliant flames spread across the blade’s body, and in an instant, the blade’s edge was held against Kan Ze’s neck.
“If you hadn’t mentioned it, I would have forgotten,” Li Ye said in a low voice. “There are still accounts to settle.”
Standing with his hands behind his back, Kan Ze wasn’t flustered. Glancing at the flowing fire on the blade before him, he said calmly: “If it weren’t for my soul element protection on her back, then she would have died in that heavenly lightning strike long ago. Instead of showing gratitude, the Supreme God wants to attack?”
“That’s perfect, then. Settle all accounts with Immortal Er’er at once—back then, to shatter my soul element, you also tried to kill her, didn’t you?”
“…” The hand holding the blade stiffened slightly as Li Ye pressed his lips together.
Remembering that scorching fire, Er’er hugged her arms and shivered, saying softly: “It was ruthless. If I didn’t have such great fortune, how could I still be here now?”
“It wasn’t your great fortune, it was my soul element power protecting you,” Kan Ze laughed lightly. “But don’t misunderstand. I protected you not for any other reason, but because you are the heaven-mandated ruler of the Nine Heavens.”
With a puzzled face, Er’er pulled Li Ye’s hand to make him withdraw his blade, then thought for a moment before saying: “Just because I have the power of prophecy? But this wasn’t something I was born with; it came later when my celestial aperture opened.”
Gripping his blade somewhat stiffly, Li Ye said: “For ninety thousand years, except for you, no immortal in the heavens has opened the prophetic celestial aperture. If he says you are heaven-mandated, it does make sense.”
“How can there be a heaven-mandated ruler of the Nine Heavens as weak as me?” Er’er pointed at herself in shock. “Before meeting you, I couldn’t even cultivate properly.”
“Precisely because you are heaven-mandated, your cultivation meridians were sealed at birth, preventing you from revealing yourself too early and encountering misfortune,” Kan Ze smiled. “I’ve examined your meridians—they can integrate and comprehend all Five Elements, the only one of its kind in the world.”
Li Ye raised his eyes, finally placing Er’er down on the ground, then raised his blade, sending forth ten thousand flames to attack Kan Ze.
“Supreme God,” Kan Ze defended himself while laughing. “This is my Kan clan’s territory. You know you’ll be restricted here, yet you still want to fight?”
“Even with restrictions, you are no match for me,” Li Ye said, raising his hand coldly.
Kan Ze shook his head, drawing his Jade Water Sword: “A sparring match is fine, but Immortal Er’er, please stand farther away to avoid getting hurt.”
Using him to show concern? Li Ye became even more displeased and struck with his blade without mercy.
Er’er stood to the side but didn’t stop them. After all, Li Ye had only drawn his blade without using major spells, which meant he merely wanted to vent his anger and wouldn’t harm Kan Ze’s life. She found a pillar to lean against and sat down, beginning to think.
Could someone like her bear such a great responsibility?
Whoosh—intense water splashes flew past her eyes, gleaming brightly.
Er’er’s eyes were filled with bewilderment as she thought of her imperial father and mother, and then of Taihe Xianshi. If she truly was such a powerful person, weren’t the past few hundred years a bit too stifling?
Boom—scorching divine fire burned through a pillar, crashing down before her eyes, the ashes blocked by a defensive barrier.
With her hand supporting her chin, Er’er smacked her lips.
Crack—water and fire collided, shattering the exquisite ice screen behind them into pieces.
The Kan clan members stood outside the great hall, all trembling, debating whether to set up a spell formation to help, when suddenly the fighting inside the hall ceased.
Everyone was stunned. As they curiously tried to peek in, they saw the door open a crack, and someone lifted out a little girl, gently placing her outside before slowly closing the door again.
The little girl sat with her hands supporting her cheeks, seemingly lost in thought, maintaining her original posture obediently even after being placed outside.
But behind her, once the door closed, the fighting instantly became more intense.
“Miss Er’er?” The voice of the Tongue Spirit Bird sounded before her.
Er’er raised her head with dreamy eyes to see Kan Qi looking at her with concern, pointing at what was behind her.
“Don’t worry, nothing serious will happen,” she waved her hand. “At most, they’ll need to rebuild your great hall.”
The Kan clan members: “…”
As if honoring her words, the great hall behind her suddenly emitted creaking sounds of imminent collapse. Everyone was alarmed and hurriedly lifted her to retreat.
A stick of incense, time later, the Kan clan’s great hall collapsed.
Li Ye emerged from the ruins, dragging Kan Ze out with him.
Kan Ze appeared to be badly injured. The crowd instantly became furious, raising swords and blades, about to step forward.
“Don’t panic,” Kan Ze suddenly spoke.
Li Ye threw him beside the steps to lean against, then sat down leaning against it himself, spitting out a mouthful of dust before saying coldly: “Your palace is poorly built.”
Laughing through his gasps for breath, Kan Ze glanced at him sideways: “You even dared to strike those thousand-year-old ice pillars.”
“Just worthless things.”
“If I hadn’t been trying to protect this treasure, I might not have lost to you.” Kan Ze turned his head, taking out a ball of light from his bosom, throwing it in Er’er’s direction.
Er’er came back to her senses, stepped forward to catch it, and when the light dispersed, she saw it was the Nine Heavens Jade.
This treasure seemed to like her very much. As soon as it reached her hand, it transformed into a jade bracelet, firmly encircling her right wrist.
Kan Ze’s eyes lit up.
“You could have taken that position yourself,” Li Ye glanced at him, saying softly. “It could ensure your Kan clan’s prosperity for ten thousand years.”
