Synopsis:

On the Lantern Festival night of the third year of Tianshou, the Crown Prince was assassinated during a state sacrificial ceremony. His body disappeared without a trace. The incident came to be known in history as the “Ci Tang” case.

In the aftermath of the Ci Tang case, powerful aristocratic clans launched a rebellion and elevated Prince Song Lan to the throne as a puppet emperor. In order to uncover the truth behind the case, to quell the coup, and to protect the Crown Prince’s most beloved younger brother, Su Luowei—born into a distinguished family of prime ministers and childhood sweetheart of the Crown Prince—married Song Lan. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to helping him consolidate power and secure his reign.

Until one day, Su Luowei discovered that Song Lan himself had been the mastermind behind the Ci Tang case. She had been deceived, kept in ignorance, and had even unwittingly become his accomplice. After learning the truth, Su Luowei resolved to avenge the Crown Prince at any cost. Thus, she set her sights on Ye Tingyan, the most trusted and powerful minister under Song Lan.

She had been deceived and kept in ignorance, even unwittingly becoming his accomplice. After learning the truth, Su Luowei resolved to avenge the Crown Prince at any cost. So she set her sights on Ye Tingyan, the powerful minister most trusted and favored by Song Lan.

The Crown Prince had been upright and honorable since childhood—noble in character, as clear and bright as the morning sky. Yet he was plotted against by his own younger brother and his childhood companion, falling from grace into the dust in a single night. He survived the catastrophe. After changing his appearance, he returned to court under the identity of his loyal confidant, Ye Tingyan, intending to eliminate those who had harmed him one by one.

But he never expected that Su Luowei, now Empress, would take the initiative to overstep boundaries and show him favor. He thought that all these years, he had never truly known Su Luowei. Until Su Luowei rested her head on his shoulder and whispered to him:
“Lord Ye, weren’t you curious about what I seek?” Go and kill Song Lan—avenge my Crown Prince for me.
