Chapter 223: Kill Them For Me

Blood continuously flowed down Bai Jinzhi’s upper arm. Her entire arm ached and went numb, completely losing sensation and trembling violently, yet her hand still gripped the silver spear tightly as a precaution. After all… nothing was more important than protecting Bai Qingyun and getting him out of here alive!

“General!” A Huying Battalion elite soldier killed the last death warrior at the inn’s small side door and shouted to Shen Liangyu before stepping out first to scout ahead.

“Turn!” Shen Liangyu suddenly took the lead, changing direction to retreat toward the inn’s side door, fighting while retreating amid arrows and flashing blades.

The leader of Li Zhijie’s death warriors shouted: “Have the garrison soldiers block them!”

The inn’s side door opened. With Shen Liangyu covering the rear, Xiao Ruohai, Bai Jinzhi, and Shen Qingzhu had just emerged from the inn when they were surrounded by Xiliang garrison troops holding high torches. Crossbow archers all aimed at Shen Liangyu, Xiao Ruohai, and their group.

Bai Jinzhi’s throat constricted. Instinctively, she placed one hand protectively over Bai Qingyun’s back while gripping her silver spear tightly with the other. The flickering candlelight hurt her eyes.

“Jin people?!” The Xiliang garrison general on his tall horse pointed his curved blade at Shen Liangyu, gnashing his teeth as if he had a blood feud with the Jin army. “You’re Jin soldiers?! The Jin army that killed hundreds of thousands of our Xiliang warriors?!”

Bai Jinzhi gritted her teeth hard, glaring at the Xiliang garrison general mounted on his tall horse, already prepared for a fight to the death.

Shen Liangyu spat out bloody saliva. His hand behind his back made a gesture to protect Bai Qingyun, and with a determination to die, he prepared to carve out a bloody path for Bai Qingyun and Bai Jinzhi. He said coldly: “I am Shen Liangyu of the Bai family army’s Huying Battalion!”

The Huying Battalion warriors showed no fear and raised their blades to advance.

The Dong family’s death warriors all retreated to Bai Qingyun and Bai Jinzhi’s side, using their flesh and blood to shield them.

The Xiliang garrison general’s eyes turned blood red as he roared furiously: “Kill these Jin dogs who dare set foot on our Xiliang territory! Avenge our Xiliang warriors!”

“Kill!” At Shen Liangyu’s command, the extremely experienced Huying Battalion warriors moved as one the moment the Xiliang arrows flew out… Twenty men rushed forward like lightning, leaping and turning, their cold-gleaming long swords passing through to first cut the throats of the Xiliang archers, then charging into the enemy ranks.

Shen Qingzhu and Bai Jinzhi stayed close to protect Xiao Ruohai, gripping their weapons tightly.

The clashing sounds of the Dong family’s death warriors and Xiliang soldiers’ blades were intense. Long knives piercing flesh and blood splattering happened right before their eyes. Bai Jinzhi’s blood boiled as she wanted to rush into the fierce battle to kill all these Xiliang soldiers, but she had to protect the severely wounded Bai Qingyun.

Under Shen Liangyu’s leadership, the Dong family death warriors and Huying Battalion elite soldiers used their flesh and blood to hold back the Xiliang soldiers, buying time for Xiao Ruohai, carrying Bai Qingyun, Shen Qingzhu, and Bai Jinzhi to retreat.

“When we retreat to the slope, you protect Fourth Miss and the Ninth Young Master and ride away first! Watch out for arrows! I’ll delay them for you!” Shen Qingzhu said with a grave expression, protecting Xiao Ruohai and Bai Jinzhi while rapidly retreating.

“Surround them! Don’t let a single one escape!” the Xiliang general mounted on his horse shouted. His hawk-like gaze fixed on Bai Qingyun, bloodied and unconscious on Xiao Ruohai’s back, instantly understanding that these Bai family troops were risking everything to save that person!

The Xiliang general pulled his reins, spurred his horse, and the war horse neighed as he charged straight toward Xiao Ruohai and the others with his elite soldiers behind him. The curved blade held high in his hand radiated murderous intent.

“Xiao Ruohai! Protect the Miss and Young Master and leave first!” Shen Qingzhu gritted her teeth and charged forward with her sword to meet the general head-on.

She stepped on the wall and leaped up, her long sword charging straight at the mounted warrior. The Xiliang warrior hastily raised his curved blade to block, but unexpectedly, Shen Qingzhu’s left hand swiftly drew a short knife from behind her back. Like Xiao Ruohai, she wielded both a long sword and a short knife, the cold, gleaming blades threatening the Xiliang warrior’s throat.

The Xiliang general’s pupils dilated as he leaned back to dodge Shen Qingzhu’s attack, but instead of tangling with her, his fierce horse leaped up and charged straight at the turning Xiao Ruohai who was trying to flee. The mounted Xiliang general raised his curved blade high… one strike would decapitate either Xiao Ruohai or Bai Qingyun.

Xiao Ruohai supported himself with his long sword, suddenly turned around, and gripped his short knife tightly, intending to block that enemy blade coming like wind and thunder.

Bai Jinzhi’s eyes widened as she roared and grabbed her silver spear, thrusting it toward the neck of the leaping war horse.

In that split second, a humming arrow from somewhere unknown… carrying intense cold energy pierced through the Xiliang general’s throat and embedded itself in the eaves of the wine house across the street, its feathers trembling incessantly.

The war horse, blinded and pierced through the neck by Bai Jinzhi, reared up with a shrill neigh.

The Xiliang general’s raised curved blade didn’t have time to fall. He stared wide-eyed at the steep slope top under the high-hanging bright moon, where a figure on horseback drew their bow from an elevated position. The military armor gleamed coldly, a red cloak fluttered fiercely, and around them was a fierce and intense murderous aura like a demon from hell.

But before the Xiliang general could cry out, blood spurted from the hole in his neck. He didn’t even have a chance to open his mouth in warning before spitting out blood and falling with the pierced war horse, blood mist spraying everywhere.

Bai Qingyan’s heart surged with furious blood. One moment later… the consequences would have been unthinkable!

Her eyes gleamed with terrifying coldness as she raised her Sun-Shooting Bow and shouted with all her might through gritted teeth: “Kill them for me!”

On the steep sliding stone slope, cold as frost under the moonlight, the Xiliang soldiers who looked up upon hearing the soul-shaking battle cry saw behind Bai Qingyan… nearly a hundred war horses appearing from nowhere.

Horses neighed and reared, their sounds piercing the clouds. Nearly a hundred cavalrymen showed no fear, charging down from the treacherous heights with thunderous momentum, so fierce it sent chills down spines and made hair stand on end!

Bai Jinzhi saw that under the cold, frosty moonlight, the one leading the charge down was Bai Qingyan. Her blood surged as she couldn’t control her tears, crying out loudly: “Elder Sister!”

She had thought… today she would die here together with Ninth Brother!

Having lived uselessly for over ten years, Bai Jinzhi had rarely met her match in the capital. Even in the fierce battle at Weng Mountain, Elder Sister was by her side… with blood-bathed comrades protecting each other. She had never felt as helpless as today, never felt death so close to her.

Seeing Elder Sister when her soul was still unsettled, she felt like she had found her backbone, and excited tears couldn’t be held back.

Now that Elder Sister had come, what did she have to fear?!

Battle cries from the steep rocky slope shook the four directions.

Like drinking bull’s blood, Bai Jinzhi’s blood instantly surged. She gritted her teeth, wiped away tears with her sleeve, stepped on the horse’s head to pull out her silver spear, and charged forward with gritted teeth to fight the surrounding Xiliang soldiers: “Come on! You Xiliang bastards!”

Xiao Ruohai protected Bai Qingyun on his back, gripping his weapons tightly in both hands, on guard.

Nearly a hundred war horses charged into the encirclement, cutting down a large swath of Xiliang army heads with swift strikes, scattering the formation of Xiliang soldiers surrounding Xiao Ruohai. Seeing such fierce soldiers, the Xiliang army felt fear and slowly retreated while gripping their long blades.
