077: The Perfect Young Gao, Not Good Enough?

Look at young Gao, he’s so understanding! Even when Zhenzhu spoke so harshly, it didn’t scare him away!

Gao Huabin only said he would visit the hospital less to avoid running into Bai Zhenzhu, not that he would never come again.

What a magnanimous young man!

Grandmother Bai held Gao Huabin’s hand, praising him repeatedly, and even Chang Ying was very pleased. No matter what, the young Gao she introduced to Zhenzhu had performed well. There was nothing wrong with the young man himself. This meant that she as a sister-in-law hadn’t failed her sister-in-law’s duties; rather, it was her sister-in-law who was being unreasonable.

“Young Gao, don’t be too upset. Zhenzhu hasn’t dated before; she hasn’t come to her senses yet!” Chang Ying tried to make excuses for Bai Zhenzhu.

Gao Huabin nodded, “Sister Chang, I understand. A blind date is just my way of getting to know Zhenzhu. To gain her approval and affection, I need to make my best efforts. The fact that she doesn’t agree easily makes me respect her more. She’s a girl who values her self-respect and dignity.”

Young Gao knew how to speak!

Every word touched the hearts of Grandmother Bai and Chang Ying.

Chang Ying thought, if Zhenzhu doesn’t grab hold of such a young man, what kind of person is she looking for?

The two of them chatted with Gao Huabin for quite a while. In the afternoon, Bai Zhenzhu didn’t come.

“This girl has quite a temper!” Chang Ying muttered. Gao Huabin checked his watch, “Sister Chang, you should go back to work. I’ll stay here for the afternoon since I’ve already taken leave.”

“No, no, no, how can we let you stay alone at the hospital?” Chang Ying quickly refused.

She wasn’t being impolite. Earlier, she had let Gao Huabin stay in the ward hoping to create opportunities for him and Zhenzhu to spend time together. Now that Zhenzhu had run away, how could they waste young Gao’s entire day?

While they were being courteous with each other, two women appeared at the door:

“Hello, we’re here to take care of the patient.”

Well, now Chang Ying and Gao Huabin didn’t need to argue anymore.

Bai Zhenzhu had directly hired two professional caregivers, paying them a month in advance, and had also arranged a comprehensive medical examination package for Grandmother Bai, making the old lady worry endlessly about the cost.

But there was nothing she could do about the worrying.

The money couldn’t be refunded.

The two caregivers had excellent attitudes, addressing her as “Auntie,” helping Grandmother Bai with water, wiping her face, and even assisting her to the bathroom – they were efficient at everything!

Grandmother Bai wasn’t a harsh person, and she couldn’t bring herself to ask the caregivers to return their wages.

She could only painfully let Chang Ying and Gao Huabin go back to work:

“Don’t let your jobs be affected, and little Bao shouldn’t be brought to the hospital so often. Ah, it’s all because of this useless old person burdening you all.”

Gao Huabin couldn’t shamelessly stay any longer.

The caregivers were professionals at taking care of patients; he couldn’t help much anyway.

Moreover, helping Grandmother Bai to the bathroom was more convenient with female caregivers.

When Gao Huabin left the hospital, his confidence wasn’t as strong.

While Grandmother Bai and Chang Ying were easy to please, Bai Zhenzhu was no ordinary person.

Although she had rejected him before, she hadn’t spoken as harshly as today. What was different today? Was it because that friend called Xia Xiaolan came to the hospital… As Gao Huabin walked downstairs with Chang Ying, he suddenly asked:

“Sister Chang, is that Comrade Xia who came to the hospital today particularly close with Zhenzhu?”

Chang Ying became somewhat alert.

Why was he asking about this?

Xia Xiaolan was very beautiful; could it be that young Gao had developed feelings for her? What about Zhenzhu then?

“You’re asking about Xiaolan? She and Zhenzhu have a business partnership and are good friends. She even invited Zhenzhu to her wedding.”

Gao Huabin was a sharp person and laughed immediately, “Sister Chang, you’ve misunderstood me. I’m not inquiring about Comrade Xia’s relationship status. I see that she’s close with Zhenzhu, and I hope to get her help… At least, I could understand what Zhenzhu is thinking, what concerns she might have.”

The wariness in Chang Ying’s eyes faded, replaced entirely by admiration.

With young Gao being so thoughtful, Zhenzhu would eventually be moved by him.

But would Xia Xiaolan help young Gao?

That was impossible.

From what little Chang Ying knew, while Xia Xiaolan looked charming, she had a strong personality, even more formidable than her sister-in-law Zhenzhu!

“I don’t have her contact information, but I’ll try to find out. Young Gao, I hope we can become a family in the future.”

What exactly was wrong with young Gao?

Zhenzhu, that girl, was confused!

When Chang Ying took her son back to her parent’s home, her mother was puzzled:

“You’re back so early? Why didn’t you stay longer at the hospital with Grandmother Zhiyong?”

Chang Ying was full of frustration and, since it was her mother, she could speak freely. She told everything that happened at the hospital:

“Let’s not talk about young Gao’s situation first. She hired two caregivers for her grandmother and said she’d hire two housekeepers later. She spends money without any consideration – do ordinary families live like this?”

Chang Ying thought her own family’s conditions were quite good.

Though not extremely wealthy, they had never really lacked money.

When she was single, she often bought clothes, her salary was enough for her expenses, and she didn’t need to supplement her family’s income.

After marriage, Bai Zhiyong hadn’t treated her poorly, sending almost all his monthly salary home. Every time she wrote in her letters asking him to keep more money for himself, he wouldn’t listen.

Later, after having a child, Chang Ying matured under the influence of maternal love. She wasn’t as extravagant with money anymore; rather than buying new clothes every month, she preferred to save money for her son.

Now with the country implementing family planning, couples were only allowed to have one child, making children even more precious.

Chang Ying wanted to give her son the best of everything; it didn’t matter if she ate or dressed poorly herself.

Because of the changes in herself, Chang Ying was convinced that Bai Zhenzhu hadn’t come to her senses.

No matter how successful the business was, without marriage and children, what meaning did life have?

She was simply complaining about her sister-in-law’s thoughtless spending, but her mother seemed contemplative:

“She’s treating money like paper. Just how big is your sister-in-law’s business?”

Chang Ying had no idea.

She had no interest in business and didn’t covet Bai Zhenzhu’s money, so she had never paid attention to these matters.

“Seems she has a building materials store in Pengcheng, a partnership with someone. She probably makes decent money, but how can running a business be as stable as having a job? Young Gao’s conditions shouldn’t be considered beneath her, right?”

Chang Ying only knew about the building materials store, and that was from Grandmother Bai.

She knew nothing about the brick factory, cement plant, or the shares in Qihang Capital – Grandmother Bai couldn’t understand these things, so Chang Ying knew even less.

She didn’t even know that Bai Zhenzhu’s building materials store had expanded to 10 branches, and if last year’s profits hadn’t been used for expansion, Bai Zhenzhu’s 29% shareholding would have easily yielded annual dividends of 1 million yuan!

Chang Ying only knew that once she had encountered Bai Zhenzhu at home covered in injuries, and she didn’t dare ask about it.

Additionally, Bai Zhenzhu mixed with those martial arts brothers from the Bai Family Martial Arts Hall, if they hadn’t urged her to marry and have children, she would never have lived a normal life…

She was taking responsibility as a sister-in-law!

But unfortunately, her sister-in-law didn’t appreciate it, and Chang Ying was nearly worried to death.

Mother Chang was also thinking, about how much money could one building materials store make, especially when it was a partnership. Why had this girl become so arrogant that she wouldn’t even consider young Gao?

Honestly, if her daughter Chang Ying wasn’t already married, Mother Chang would have introduced young Gao to Chang Ying rather than letting someone else have him.

A university graduate – did they think they grew on trees?!
