Ziqing and the Four Great Poisonous Beasts chased after Liuguang, the light growing faster and faster, streaking toward a massive lake to the east.
Fortunately for the Four Great Poisonous Beasts, otherwise even with Ziqing’s superb lightness skill, she never could have kept pace with that lightning-fast speed.
But before long, Liuguang came to a stop, hovering in midair above a cliff by the lakeshore.
Ziqing and the others also stopped, and even the Great Beast Zizhu among the Four Great Poisonous Beasts was left panting for breath.
They watched from a distance, afraid to startle Liuguang, not daring to get too close.
But in the blink of an eye, Liuguang suddenly plunged straight down over the edge of the cliff.
The Nine-Tailed White Fox couldn’t help muttering, “Is it trying to kill itself, or what?”
But the Great Beast Zizhu, understanding the gravity of the situation, was the first to dive down after it with Ziqing.
Only when they reached the base of the cliff did they freeze in shock!
Liuguang hadn’t fallen into the lake water at all — it hung suspended in midair, its once-dazzling swirl of light suddenly transforming into a blade’s edge, striking again and again at the flat cliff wall before it.
Ziqing watched, jaw dropped, a thought slowly forming in her mind, while the other three poisonous beasts who had just caught up were equally astonished!
No matter how special a dagger it might be, this was far too strange to make sense of!
It was clearly being drawn by some force, striking the wall over and over — even when knocked back, it never gave up, as if determined to bore straight through the rock face.
Strangely, though Liuguang’s blade was sharp enough to pierce even the scales of an ordinary black shark, after so many repeated strikes here, it hadn’t chipped off even a single small pebble!
Could this be where the seal to the Poisonous Beast World was located — could this be the exit?
Could someone outside be opening the seal? Was the force drawing Liuguang coming from outside?
The only person Ziqing could think of, capable of drawing Liuguang like this, was Jun Beiyue!
Was it him?
Ziqing watched, jaw dropped, her heart pounding — she had never stopped searching, even knowing full well she wouldn’t find anything, searching every single day.
But now, with hope right in front of her eyes, she could hardly believe it!
“Roooar…”
Just then, the sound of the Big Dopey Bear came from behind. Ziqing turned to see the bear, with her son on its back, watching them from the opposite cliff.
Ziqing, overcome with excitement, waved wildly at her son. Nothing could compare to the joy of finally being able to leave!
So long, so very long — but no matter how much time had passed, she had never forgotten the people outside, the things waiting for her outside!
Nor had she forgotten what the very first thing she would do would be, once she got out!
Suddenly, a resounding “clang!” — a chunk of stone broke free from the wall under Liuguang’s assault.
Overjoyed, Ziqing quickly loosed a wind blade, but unfortunately, before it even reached Xuanyuan, it was immediately deflected back!
“Master, it’s here, it must be here — the seal is here!” the Great Beast Zizhu cried out excitedly.
More than even Ziqing, it had been waiting for this moment.
Soon, Liuguang broke off a second chunk of stone. Ziqing and the Four Great Poisonous Beasts watched with growing impatience, wishing they could tear the entire cliff face apart with their own hands.
But no matter how immense their combined strength might be, there was nothing they could do — they could only wait as Liuguang chipped away, stone by stone, destroying the cliff bit by bit.
And yet, even as they waited, Ziqing’s heart was filled with excitement.
Was there anything more thrilling than the prospect of returning to the continent of Longyuan?
Her friends, her enemies — let them all wait. Han Ziqing was coming out, with her son in tow!
The power of the dagger Liuguang kept growing stronger. The cliff, which had trembled only slightly at first, was now shaking violently, even stirring the entire lake, sending ripple after ripple across its surface!
Gradually, more and more poisonous beasts gathered around, as if even they could sense that something momentous was about to happen — the entire Poisonous Beast World was stirring with unrest.
And back in Xuanlong Palace, everyone was equally on edge. Seeing Jun Beiyue’s eyes close again, panic spread through the room!
Second Elder Meng and Third Elder Meng, guilt gnawing at them, forced themselves to keep forming seals despite their fear!
Sha Qiuzi finally couldn’t hold back and spoke up, “Second Elder Meng, what just happened? Is the prince about to wake up?”
But Second Elder Meng didn’t so much as glance at Sha Qiuzi, let alone answer — if they opened their mouths now, they’d surely give themselves away.
Because the look Jun Beiyue had just given them had been far too intimidating — they couldn’t be sure their voices wouldn’t tremble if they spoke!
They could only stare fixedly at Jun Beiyue’s chest, unblinking, and keep pushing forward with all their might!
They had to complete the seal as quickly as possible — otherwise, if Jun Beiyue broke through again, they would be finished!
Seeing Second Elder Meng ignore him, Sha Qiuzi pressed again, “Second Elder Meng, say something, at least nod if you can — what’s going on? Why did the prince close his eyes again? Did he wake up just now or not?”
But Second Elder Meng still wouldn’t answer. Unable to hold back any longer, Sha Qiuzi stepped forward to check Jun Beiyue’s pulse.
But just then, Second Elder Meng suddenly shot him a furious glare. Sha Qiuzi paid it no mind, but Prince Baxian pulled him back. “Don’t! We were told not to interfere no matter what happens — don’t ruin things! I think Beiyue’s about to wake up!”
With Prince Baxian saying so, the already uncertain Sha Qiuzi had no choice but to retreat — if he really did ruin things, he couldn’t bear such a heavy responsibility.
Left with no other option, everyone had to leave it entirely to the two Meng Clan elders. This continued for another three full days!
Over these three days, Jun Beiyue’s heart-pulse had nearly returned to completely normal — so much so that not only could his heartbeat no longer be seen, even the “thump, thump, thump” sound of it could no longer be heard.
The room fell into a terrifying silence, everyone waiting with bated breath. Yelu Qianqian was so nervous her own heart nearly stopped, her hands clutching desperately at Situ Haonan’s arm, while Situ Haonan, even more tense than her, didn’t even notice the pain in his arm.
They had no idea, but Second Elder Meng and Third Elder Meng knew full well — today was the final day, the most critical day of all!
The seal was about to be completed!
Under the pressure of a double seal, Jun Beiyue would be left with no choice but to recover slowly through a gradual, careful regimen!
In two or three years’ time, the position of Meng Clan Chief would already have found its new occupant!
Time was slipping away steadily. Soon, Third Elder Meng stepped back — his part of the task was done, leaving only Second Elder Meng to finish the work.
The moment Third Elder Meng stepped back, Situ Haonan and the others swarmed forward.
But before anyone could even get a word out, Second Elder Meng suddenly cried out, “How can this be!”
Situ Haonan and the others jumped in fright, turning to look, only to see that Jun Beiyue’s heart-pulse had somehow begun pounding again — and more violently than ever before!
Heavens, what was going on?
Third Elder Meng assumed Second Elder Meng was just starting to fabricate some excuse to fob off Prince Baxian.
He took his time sipping a cup of tea before finally turning to look — and the moment he saw what was happening, he too froze in shock.
This… this seal, which the two of them had worked so many days to complete, had been broken by Jun Beiyue in an instant!
And it looked as though he was about to break through the Five Elements Seal on his chest as well!
Crash — the teacup fell from Third Elder Meng’s hand, and it took him a long moment to come back to his senses…
