Bai Youwei saw he wasn’t taking it, so she offered it to Ada in front of her instead: “Have some chocolate.”
Ada didn’t take it either.
Nick finally couldn’t contain himself, and hissed under his breath: “Stop snacking and watch your feet!”
Under absolutely no circumstances could they step on the patterned bricks.
“I know, I know, I’m watching~” Bai Youwei said carelessly, then peeled off the chocolate wrapper and casually tossed it aside —
Nick’s eyes snapped wide open.
He watched helplessly as that thin slip of plastic wrapper drifted downward, spinning lazily in the air, then slowly, slowly settled toward the ground……
All clear.
It hadn’t touched any of the patterned ones.
He exhaled a long breath, his lungs working again, and issued another warning toward Bai Youwei ahead of him: “Don’t throw things randomly. You almost triggered a trap just now.”
Bai Youwei acted as if she hadn’t heard a word of it, craning her neck forward to ask, “How much longer is this corridor? Are we almost at the main chamber?”
Shen Mo, leading at the front, answered: “Almost.”
Bai Youwei muttered quietly to herself: “It’s so hot……”
She dug out a packet of rainbow candy, gave it a hard tear — and the little candies went flying, scattering everywhere with a rattling clatter!
Nick’s entire body went rigid.
Ada spun around in shock: “What? What happened? What’s that sound??”
Shen Mo’s voice came from the front — a single word:
“Run!”
The floor tilted without warning. The stone wall swung down like a portcullis — and with the exception of Shen Mo, who leapt clear at the last instant, the remaining three went tumbling straight into the pit!
The viewer comments erupted:
【Damn damn damn damn damn damn damn damn damn】
【In all my years — triggered on the very first trap!】
【Cabbage I love you!! Cabbage I love youuuuuuu!!!!!!】
【Cabbage I knew you’d never let me down! Woof!】
【Are you people devils?! Someone might actually die and you’re still stanning that girl???】
【They’re not devils, they’re a cult! The Cabbage Cult!】
【If my wife ever ate candy in a dungeon while I was with her, I’d chop her legs off, believe it or not?】
【Only if you had a wife first】
【Lmaooooooo……】
……
“Damn it!” The moment Nick hit the bottom of the pit, he started cursing. He’d calculated every possible scenario — and somehow hadn’t accounted for failing at the very first trap!
The openings on both sides of the pit pulled apart, and a torrent of yellow sand came pouring out.
Nick knew exactly how dangerous this sand was. He scrambled to stand and try to stabilize himself — only to be slammed back into the sand pile by a crushing, thousand-ton force!
In a matter of seconds, the sand was already burying him up to his thighs.
“Honey! Honey I’m scared!~” Bai Youwei was in the sand, covering her eyes and screaming. “Help me~ Someone help~!”
Nick wanted to strangle her. Now you’re afraid? What was your brain doing when you were eating snacks two seconds ago — taking a stroll downtown?
Shen Mo, standing on high ground, flung down a long rope.
Ada grabbed one end, wound it rapidly around his arm, then reached down and hauled Bai Youwei up.
Nick fought desperately through the sand and lunged forward, thrusting his hand out toward Bai Youwei!
Bai Youwei actually hesitated.
The sand was already up to her chest — what on earth was there to hesitate about?!
“Bai Youwei!!!” Nick bellowed in fury.
Bai Youwei reluctantly extended her hand. Nick grabbed it and held tight.
— They hung there like a loose, wobbly string of candied hawthorn, the other end of the string firmly fastened by Shen Mo to an engraved stone pillar. He hauled with all his strength. The rope scraped and burned across the pillar surface, and three people — faces and hair plastered with yellow sand — came thrashing and scrambling their way out.
Bai Youwei shook her head vigorously to clear the sand from her hair, sending a spray of it straight across Nick’s face.
Before Nick could react, he heard her sprint over to Shen Mo: “Whimper whimper, honey, I’m all dirty……”
Nick: “……”
Absolutely unacceptable.
“All I did was grab your hand for a second!” he snapped. “Ada grabbed your hand too — what’s the difference?!”
Bai Youwei, already nestled against Shen Mo, turned half her face back toward him with a look of disdain: “Ada was wearing gloves.”
Nick glanced over.
Damn it. Ada really was wearing a pair of outdoor anti-slip gloves.
Shen Mo took Bai Youwei’s hand, lifted it to the corner of his mouth, and pressed a kiss to it. “There,” he said, coaxing her gently. “Not dirty anymore.”
Bai Youwei burrowed against him. “Honey, you’re so good to me~”
Nick: “……”
This couple is absolutely toxic.
