Chapter 917: Werewolf Village 14

Bai Youwei listened to the sound of those footsteps and felt something was wrong. Her expression shifted over and over.

She had just made up her mind not to come out of the cabinet — but the direction the werewolf had gone…

The werewolf was clearly heading straight for Shen Mo’s house!

“Damn it!” she cursed under her breath, bent low, and climbed out of the cabinet. She pressed against the window and looked — sure enough, the werewolf had gone for Shen Mo.

That massive, beast-like body crashed through Shen Mo’s door and plunged inside!

Outside was bathed in eerie red moonlight; inside was pitch-black, impossible to see anything. Bai Youwei could see nothing — only hear the beast’s roar! The crash of overturning furniture! The piercing clash of blade against claw!

She tried to open her door and help, but the door was immovable — impenetrable as iron!

She also tried to climb out through the window — even though the window had already been opened by the werewolf moments ago — but the moment she approached the window’s edge, it was as though an invisible wall imprisoned her inside the room!

Game rule: each night, villagers were forbidden from leaving their houses.

“Damn it!” she raged. She raised her arm, nearly threw the rabbit out the window —

But the rabbit too bounced back when it reached the window, unable to pass through!

In any case, anything that belonged inside the house — even a speck of dust — could not drift out. Only the werewolf could come in from outside. And the people inside could only wait to be slaughtered.

Bai Youwei paced the room in an agony of anxiety, pressing against the window to watch what was happening outside. After the werewolf went in, it hadn’t come back out. She had no way of knowing Shen Mo’s condition.

Were there any items that could help?

She rummaged through her canvas bag. Not a single thing was usable. Even the rabbit couldn’t get out — how could she expect any other item to have any effect?

Calm down.

You have to calm down now!

Bai Youwei clutched her head and forced herself to think — why had the werewolf changed its mind and attacked Shen Mo after abandoning her? How had it made that judgment? Why hadn’t it chosen another villager’s house? Why hadn’t it gone for Hans and his people? Had she and Shen Mo been set up without even realizing it?

BANG!!

The tremendous crash made Bai Youwei’s heart seize in a violent shudder.

She snapped her head up to look — and there, before Shen Mo’s door, lay a massive werewolf.

Its throat had been slashed open. A red fluid soaked through its fur and pooled across the ground. The eerie red moonlight illuminated the scene before her, making it look grotesquely horrifying.

Bai Youwei kept her nerves taut and watched for a moment longer. Shen Mo never appeared.

Even if he just stood at the doorway — at least she would know he was safe.

According to the game rules, when a villager was attacked by a werewolf, their physical capacity was automatically halved. Was he injured — so badly that he couldn’t even find the strength to stand up?… Why was he still not appearing?

Bai Youwei bit her lower lip, her eyes fixed on the house diagonally across from her.

She waited, and waited, and waited…

Waited until the sky finally brightened.

After two agonizing hours, the restrictions on doors and windows vanished in an instant. Bai Youwei didn’t wait even a second before bolting outside and running into the house where Shen Mo was!

Blood everywhere!

Some the werewolf’s. Some Shen Mo’s.

Shen Mo was leaning against the wall, resting. Bai Youwei’s footsteps startled him awake. He opened his eyes and only then registered that dawn had come.

“Are you alright? Is it serious?” Bai Youwei ran to him, hands reaching out but not daring to touch — afraid of hitting a wound.

Shen Mo reassured her: “I’ve already used the mud. My physical capacity is halved, but the item’s effect is unaffected. Don’t worry…”

Bai Youwei looked at Shen Mo and gradually calmed down.

“The werewolf was coming for me,” she said quietly. “It couldn’t find me, so it chose to attack you instead. We were set up.”

Shen Mo leaned against the wall and adjusted his position slightly. His injuries did not seem entirely healed.

“Do you know how we were set up?” he asked.

Bai Youwei thought for a moment. “Let me go out and take a look first — see if anyone tampered with our houses…”

Before she had finished speaking, sounds of clamor came from outside.

The werewolf’s body had been discovered by the villagers.
