Chapter 293: Imitating the Beautiful

As soon as Huang Yan finished speaking, a dead silence fell over the room.

Especially Consort Rong and Yun Mu’er, who had never expected Huang Yan to suddenly make such a move. His seemingly casual and offhand remarks had directly shattered everything they had just said.

Now, it further confirmed that everything they had just claimed was a lie.

Consort Rong felt a surge of anger in her heart. When all was said and done, she had been too rash, and with such limited time, she hadn’t been able to arrange everything properly.

She had originally thought that because of Mu Yunjin’s poor reputation, after Chu Li lost his memory of her, hearing her name would fill him with disgust, and for the sake of obtaining the Divine Decree, he certainly wouldn’t show her any mercy.

But she had overlooked the fact that there were so many external factors around Chu Li, and that every detail of his life was filled with traces of Mu Yunjin.

Yet if she hadn’t acted this way, she truly feared something might happen to the Divine Decree inside Mu Yunjin’s body. This item was so important that if something went wrong, and if certain matters were exposed in the future…

Consort Rong thought about it and suddenly dared not think any further.

Beside her, Chu Li’s expression was calm as he glanced at the items in Huang Yan’s hands, slightly furrowing his brow. “Mu Yunjin’s things?”

“Yes, the Princess’s name is even engraved on this dagger!” Huang Yan said, holding the dagger before Chu Li’s eyes. The handle bore the two characters ‘Yunjin.’

All these hidden weapons had been specially custom-made for Mu Yunjin at a weapons shop. When ordering them, she had followed her previous habit of having her name engraved on her weapons to mark them as her own.

Seeing those two characters, Consort Rong and Yun Mu’er’s faces darkened even more.

Huang Yan, sensing the strange atmosphere and recalling what Song Chun had told him earlier, glanced at Yun Mu’er and added, “Hey, Your Highness, this young lady looks unfamiliar. Is she a new maid in your household?”

“Huang Yan!” Consort Rong angrily shrieked his name. “Were you deliberately sent by Mu Yunjin to cause trouble?”

Hearing this, Huang Yan pouted, putting on a righteous appearance. “Consort Rong, I, Huang Yan, am loyal to His Highness alone in this life and only listen to Prince Ning’s commands!”

“The reason I came back to get the Princess’s things is because His Highness ordered me to stay by the Princess’s side and protect her safety.”

Consort Rong bit her lip, unable to speak now.

Chu Li glanced at Consort Rong, then immediately withdrew his gaze. From earlier until now, in just a brief moment, he could already discern who was lying.

However, he didn’t understand Consort Rong’s intentions. This woman called Yun Mu’er beside her had no connection to him, so why was she forcing her upon him?

And that woman called Mu Yunjin—all her belongings were in his room. Did she truly have an intimate relationship with him?

But why couldn’t he remember anything?

“Where is she now?” Chu Li turned to look at Huang Yan.

Huang Yan looked at Chu Li, naturally knowing that “she” referred to Mu Yunjin, and opened his mouth, “At Water Cloud Temple.”

“Hmm.” Chu Li acknowledged with a sound, then strode toward the door.

As he passed by Consort Rong and Yun Mu’er, his brow furrowed, his eyes filled with cold anger. “Get out of here immediately!”

Consort Rong and Yun Mu’er shuddered, instinctively nodding.

Huang Yan, walking behind, looked first at Consort Rong, then at Yun Mu’er as Chu Li left the room. “Consort Rong, this impostor is much uglier than our Princess. And she calls herself Yun Mu’er? Trying to imitate the beautiful—she should take a look at herself in a mirror first!”

“You!” Yun Mu’er’s face immediately flushed red with anger and embarrassment. Although she wasn’t stunningly beautiful, her appearance was certainly considered above average. Today, she had been ridiculed so harshly.

Huang Yan ignored Yun Mu’er and directly followed Chu Li out.

After Chu Li and Huang Yan left Clarity Spring Pavilion, Yun Mu’er took hold of Consort Rong’s arm. “Godmother, what do we do now?”

“Let’s also go to Water Cloud Temple to assess the situation. While Li’er’s memory hasn’t returned, we must make him seize the Divine Decree!”

“Yes, Godmother.”

After Consort Rong spoke, she immediately left Chu Li’s room. Just as she stepped out, she saw a gray figure standing in the courtyard and was momentarily startled.

“Mu’er, wait here for Godmother.” Consort Rong spoke to Yun Mu’er, then walked toward Master An.

Master An had arrived with Huang Yan and had heard most of the conversation inside. Now his gaze toward Consort Rong was filled with complexity.

“Kong Shi, why have you come?” Consort Rong spoke indifferently, as if nothing had happened.

“To see how you’re creating trouble for yourself,” Master An said sarcastically.

Hearing this, Consort Rong gave a low laugh, her eyes fixed on Master An. “You now favor Mu Yunjin completely and are unwilling to help me obtain the Divine Decree. I had no choice but to take matters into my own hands!”

“Even if Li’er hates me later, only by summoning the dead spirits and soldiers can both our lives be preserved in the future. Otherwise, what awaits us is an abyss of no return!”

Master An sighed, his eyes covered with a layer of frost. “There are always alternatives. Why must you rely solely on a token? Perhaps you’ll save your life, but if everyone hates you for it, will that make you happy?”

“Enough, don’t say anymore. I’ll handle my affairs without needing your concern. Just take care of yourself!” Consort Rong glared at Master An, feeling angry inside. Previously, Master An had at least stood firmly on her side, helping her, but now not only was he refusing to help, he had taken Mu Yunjin’s side.

She was lucky not to have died of anger already!

Seeing that Consort Rong truly wouldn’t listen to anything, Master An said no more, leaving her with one last sentence: “Do as you wish!”

With that, he flew away.

After leaving the mansion, Huang Yan told Chu Li that Mu Yunjin had gone to River Moon City.

“What is she doing there?” Chu Li was slightly startled. When mentioning Mu Yunjin, his tone wasn’t as cold as before, but his expression wasn’t much better either.

“There’s supposedly a recipe for an antidote to Lord He Yu’s poison. It was found by the Princess’s subordinate, Hua Ying. The Princess has already rushed to River Moon City to check on the progress of the antidote’s preparation,” Huang Yan explained. Having learned about Chu Li’s memory loss on his way there, he tried to be as clear as possible.

Chu Li narrowed his eyes, showing surprise and deep thought. Few people around him knew about Xu Heyu’s poisoning, and the matter had been kept extremely confidential. Even Qu Xinyao didn’t know about it, yet Mu Yunjin somehow knew?

“Your Highness, we’ve all witnessed the affection between you and the Princess. Now you’ve only temporarily lost your memory and forgotten the Princess. If you see her later, please don’t act impulsively and harm her.” Huang Yan knew the temperaments of both Chu Li and Mu Yunjin. If Chu Li truly harmed Mu Yunjin because of his memory loss, he would surely regret it later.

Chu Li collected his thoughts, trying desperately to recall the three characters “Mu Yunjin,” but his mind remained blank. No matter how much those around him spoke of their close relationship, he still had no memory of it at all.

“Mistress? Is it you? Didn’t you go back? Why have you suddenly come here?” Qiqi was busy categorizing newly purchased herbs in the medicine shop when she saw a figure fly into the courtyard and spoke in surprise.

Mu Yunjin sighed. After traveling all day and having eaten only breakfast, her stomach now felt nauseated, and her throat was parched to the point of smoking.

She didn’t immediately respond to Qiqi, but first went inside to pour herself a cup of water.

Qiqi followed her in, and at that moment, Hua Ying and Qing Meng, hearing the commotion, also came out from inside.

After drinking two cups of water, Mu Yunjin felt marginally better. She took a deep breath and said helplessly, “This morning, Consort Rong made a bowl of white fungus and lotus seed soup for both me and Chu Li, laced with a memory-loss drug. Now Chu Li has lost his memory and doesn’t remember me specifically.”

“What? Memory loss?!” Qiqi exclaimed.

Even the usually calm Qing Meng and Hua Ying were stunned for a moment. Then Qing Meng spoke up, “Then why are you unaffected, Princess?”

“I had a headache this morning, probably when the drug was taking effect. Later, the Divine Decree in my body helped me counteract it. Otherwise, I would probably have forgotten Chu Li too.” As Mu Yunjin finished speaking, she unconsciously rubbed her chest, even though the Divine Decree was no longer inside her.

“Sister Qing Meng, do you have a way to restore lost memories?” Mu Yunjin looked at Qing Meng with hope in her eyes.

Qing Meng shook her head, “Memory loss is easy, recovery is difficult. We can only rely on His Highness to find a way to regain his memories himself.”

“I see.” Although Mu Yunjin had been mentally prepared, hearing Qing Meng say this still left her feeling dejected.

“Mistress, don’t be too sad. If you and Prince Ning fell in love before, you can fall in love again even without his memories! Your essence and personality haven’t changed; you still possess whatever attracted Prince Ning in the first place,” Qiqi said, seeing Mu Yunjin’s downcast expression.

Hua Ying and Qing Meng both nodded in agreement.

Mu Yunjin forced a smile and changed the subject, “How is Lord Xu doing now?”

“He’s still unconscious. After you left this morning, we began looking for the formula for each antidote. So far, we’ve only found a small portion. One hundred poisons require one hundred antidotes, and each antidote needs more than a dozen ingredients—it’s a massive undertaking,” Qing Meng explained.

Mu Yunjin nodded, “I can’t return to Prince Ning’s mansion for a while, so I’ll stay here and help you find the antidotes.”

“Good, we need more hands!” Hua Ying smiled, looking at Mu Yunjin.

Qiqi, afraid that thoughts of Chu Li would depress Mu Yunjin, took her arm. “Mistress, there’s a huge pile of herbs that need to be classified. Help me sort them. Brother Lei Yan and Xiu Mei are out gathering more medicinal materials.”

“Alright.” Mu Yunjin nodded and followed Qiqi to the side.

Seeing this, Qing Meng smiled slightly, “Princess, are you hungry? I’ll go cook something for you!”

“Thank you, Sister Qing Meng.” Mu Yunjin rubbed her stomach, indeed feeling quite hungry.

Qing Meng quickly brought Mu Yunjin a bowl of noodles. After being hungry for so long, Mu Yunjin had just picked up her chopsticks and taken a few bites when she sensed something unusual in the courtyard, followed by footsteps approaching.

When she glimpsed the figures nearing the door, she let out a “poof” sound, spitting out all the noodles in her mouth…
