March 6th, Wednesday.
Magic City, Shengrun Group Headquarters.
Nie Yunsheng hadn’t been having a good time lately.
Reverse Wind Logistics’ offensive was simply too aggressive, making it difficult to counter!
That livestream debate with Lü Mingliang had given Reverse Wind Logistics a huge advantage in public opinion online, while exposing the accumulated problems at Shengrun Express on a massive scale. It felt like a classic case of “when the wall falls, everyone pushes; when the drum breaks, everyone pounds.”
Many couriers who were currently working at Shengrun Express or had worked there before came forward to condemn Shengrun Express’s unreasonable system and exploitation of couriers.
Customers who had lost packages, received damaged items, or were dissatisfied with after-sales service from Shengrun Express also stepped forward to criticize Shengrun’s poor service, bad attitude, and lack of respect for customers.
Even internal employees of Shengrun Express leaked information online, claiming that Shengrun Express had chaotic internal management, a culture of overtime, and severe formalism, among other issues. They even exposed Nie Yunsheng’s previous attempt to divert attention using the Apple incident, describing it in detail.
Although there was no direct evidence, when netizens compared these posts with real-life situations, they immediately believed about 80% of it.
The anonymous posters were mostly current employees, while those posting openly without anonymity were generally former employees who had already left Shengrun Group.
Obviously, these current employees were also preparing to resign, just waiting to find a suitable new employer. Those who had already left simply didn’t care anymore and weren’t considering the possibility of “returning to Shengrun Express” in the future.
In the past month, more negative news had surfaced online than in the entire previous year!
Nie Yunsheng felt extremely wronged, believing that Reverse Wind Logistics must have hired internet trolls to deliberately create negative publicity against them!
He wanted the public relations department to find evidence that Reverse Wind Logistics had hired trolls to smear Shengrun Express, hoping to stage a comeback or at least recover from his huge disadvantage in public opinion, but… they all failed, without exception.
Because Reverse Wind Logistics had never even considered such an approach.
So why had so much negative news about Shengrun Express suddenly emerged? Why wasn’t there this much negative coverage before?
The reason was simple—previously, there hadn’t been enough social attention!
In fact, both couriers and customers had complaints about Shengrun Express before, but what good did complaining do?
A single post or a few complaints from one person online had no influence and would quickly be buried in the vast sea of internet information.
Even if these people wanted to expose some insider information about Shengrun Express, they couldn’t achieve it. Most posts couldn’t attract netizens’ attention, and those that managed to gather some heat would quickly be handled by Shengrun Express’s public relations team.
But the situation was different now!
After the livestream debate between Lü Mingliang and Nie Yunsheng, a trend had formed online, with netizens closely following the developments.
In this environment, the voices of Shengrun Express couriers and customers were more likely to be heard.
Naturally, they wouldn’t miss this excellent opportunity and would do everything possible to make themselves heard!
The accumulated dissatisfaction erupted in a short period, giving Nie Yunsheng the illusion that “someone is targeting us.”
But it wasn’t targeting at all—it was simply that too much dissatisfaction had accumulated in the past, and once it found an outlet for release, it naturally became unstoppable.
Faced with such massive negative public opinion, the Public Affairs Department couldn’t possibly contain it.
With just one negative piece, they could still use methods like deleting posts, reducing visibility, or diverting attention. But now there were too many negative reports to handle. Even if they spent considerable resources dealing with one or two issues, more would quickly emerge.
Moreover, these public relations efforts would generate new negative materials, like trying to put out a fire with firewood—the firewood never ends, and neither does the fire.
Even though the Public Relations Department had been working overtime continuously, the situation still hadn’t improved.
What worried Nie Yunsheng even more was that this public opinion crisis had tangibly affected Shengrun Group’s business.
At the same time this public opinion war began, Lü Mingliang had already arranged, under Mr. Pei’s “expand losses” guiding principle, to establish cooperative relationships with stores on major shopping platforms. These stores wouldn’t directly cancel their cooperation with Shengrun Express, but once two options were provided, many customers would choose Reverse Wind Logistics.
Smaller courier companies weren’t affected; they even benefited because Reverse Wind stations remained open to these small courier services. They were delighted to see Shengrun Express’s lockers and stations piling up with packages, with exasperated customers choosing Reverse Wind Logistics and these smaller courier services instead. Far from being upset, they were ecstatic and certainly wouldn’t side with Shengrun Express.
Additionally, Reverse Wind Logistics continued to spend money, both improving service quality and subsidizing courier fees, poaching even more of Shengrun Express’s customers.
Even though Shengrun Express gritted its teeth and bled money—paying couriers extra overtime, hiring temporary workers, encouraging customers to pick up their packages or forcing stations to deliver to their doors—and managed to process all the accumulated deliveries, the damage from this incident was already done.
Many customers no longer trusted Shengrun Express’s logistics capabilities and were more inclined to choose Reverse Wind Logistics or other smaller courier services.
Shengrun Express certainly wouldn’t collapse because of this single incident, but their business volume would definitely shrink significantly.
This directly led to Shengrun Express’s stock price plummeting, just like Zhujia Group before.
Not only that, many frontline couriers were resigning in droves, which was also a very bad sign.
Obviously, they were being poached by Reverse Wind Logistics!
Reverse Wind Logistics naturally offered better treatment for their couriers. Though the salary difference might not be huge, Reverse Wind Logistics also covered social insurance, housing fund, and various welfare benefits, and strictly implemented rotation breaks. When compared, the gap between the two companies was obvious!
Reverse Wind Logistics was still maintaining rapid expansion. Beyond first-tier cities, there was still significant room for growth in second and third-tier cities and county towns. Their demand for personnel was enormous, and when they poached from Shengrun Express, often one person would bring along half the couriers from a station—the efficiency was incredibly high.
Moreover, Reverse Wind Logistics was poaching experienced workers from Shengrun Express.
Shengrun Express had no choice but to fill these gaps by hiring inexperienced couriers.
But this created two new problems: first, these couriers lacked experience, further lowering the already poor service quality; second, once these couriers became experienced, they might be poached by Reverse Wind Logistics again…
Had Shengrun Express become a courier training base for Reverse Wind Logistics? This was intolerable!
Nie Yunsheng felt helpless. Now that Reverse Wind Logistics was pressing forward on all fronts, Shengrun Express was truly stretched thin, with no idea how to counterattack!
This combination of punches had left everyone stunned.
Nie Yunsheng slumped in his office chair, brow furrowed. The current predicament was somewhat beyond his comprehension.
As a self-made entrepreneur, Nie Yunsheng had certainly encountered many difficulties during Shengrun Group’s development, but he had successfully resolved the vast majority of them.
This time was different.
In previous crises, Nie Yunsheng could always identify the crux of the problem, and once the right remedy was applied, the issues would be resolved smoothly.
But this time, he only felt a deep sense of powerlessness.
Just then, there was a knock at the office door.
Nie Yunsheng looked up to see Li Meng, the director of Shengrun Group’s Human Resources Department.
“Mr. Nie, this is terrible! Something serious has happened!” Li Meng looked extremely flustered.
Nie Yunsheng frowned: “What’s got you so panicked?”
Nie Yunsheng was fully aware of Shengrun Group’s current situation. But what could have happened for the Human Resources Director to come running in saying something terrible had occurred?
What kind of problem could the Human Resources Department be facing?
Li Meng said: “Mr. Nie, five key staff members from the Public Relations Department have submitted their resignations. Additionally, departments like Marketing, General Management, Data Center, Customer Service, and Employee Affairs also have key employees resigning!”
“In total, more than forty employees are resigning this time, and they’re all mid-level backbone staff of the company!”
Nie Yunsheng was stunned: “What? More than forty!”
No wonder the Human Resources Department thought something serious had happened—this was indeed abnormal!
This wasn’t the peak hiring season, so even with normal personnel changes, they shouldn’t be occurring on such a large scale or so frequently.
If it were interns leaving en masse, that would be inconsequential, as interns were dispensable anyway.
But for key employees occupying critical positions with significant industry experience, their expectations for salary and career development opportunities were higher. Generally, they would only switch jobs if they found a very suitable alternative.
And with resignations on such a large scale, there was only one possibility.
They were being poached in batches!
As for who was poaching them, did that even need to be said?
Nie Yunsheng said through gritted teeth: “Reverse Wind Logistics again?”
Li Meng nodded: “Yes, it must be Reverse Wind Logistics!”
“Tenda previously organized a special recruitment exam, and many people probably participated in it.”
“Not only that, but Tenda is also directly poaching people from our company!”
“I’ve noticed that these people often have good personal relationships with each other. For instance, the five people from the Public Relations Department who submitted resignations this time are all on good terms with each other, and they seem to have a close relationship with Deputy Director Lao Wei who resigned earlier…”
Nie Yunsheng trembled with anger: “So it’s Reverse Wind Logistics, it’s Lü Mingliang! Did they really have to go this far?!”
