November 19th, Saturday.
Loss Management meeting.
Recently, although the Loss Management meetings were still being held twice a month as scheduled, they truly had little significance for Pei Qian, without much useful information.
Because the current settlement cycle had just reached its middle phase, many projects were still developing according to plan, and no particularly dangerous interactive phenomena had appeared, nor were there any signs of profitability.
Since there was no such intelligence, naturally the Loss Management group, as an intelligence gathering organization, couldn’t collect anything.
However, upholding the principle of prevention first, the Loss Management meetings were still held and reported as usual. Pei Qian listened attentively throughout, afraid of missing any important information.
Today’s Loss Management meeting proceeded as usual. The Loss Managers from each department reported on their recent work, and Tang Yishu, as always, diligently took meeting minutes.
The vast majority of the intelligence was content that Pei Qian already knew, so the normal reporting work didn’t have many noteworthy points.
It would be necessary to remain vigilant in late next month through early the following month, when the settlement approached and various products were launched one after another.
Soon, the regular agenda of the Loss Management meeting was completed.
Tang Yishu looked at Pei Qian, meaning to ask if there were no other matters, could they adjourn as usual.
Pei Qian pondered for a moment and asked, “Everyone, what is your understanding of the Tenda Spirit?”
Yesterday’s Tenda Spirit test had made Pei Qian sense a potential threat.
If the newest batch of employees already had a completely skewed understanding of the Tenda Spirit, then the veteran employees who influenced them must have an even more serious misunderstanding!
However, Pei Qian wasn’t currently clear about just how serious this misunderstanding was, so he needed to conduct a baseline investigation.
Starting this investigation with these Loss Managers was a good choice.
Because the Loss Managers were the most tight-lipped, they wouldn’t say much, nor would they ask much. Even if Pei Qian asked some questions, word wouldn’t spread between departments, avoiding alarming anyone prematurely.
The Loss Managers looked at each other, not quite understanding Pei Qian’s intention.
However, everyone still honestly answered according to their understanding.
“Senior, my understanding of the Tenda Spirit is saving time, working efficiently, using entertainment, rest, and relaxation to improve work efficiency, achieving a win-win for both the individual and the company.”
“I think the Tenda Spirit is striving for your career, rather than simply completing assigned tasks with just an employee mindset.”
“I think it’s about putting heart into products and content, doing your duty to the extreme, and moving users with sincerity.”
All the Loss Managers spoke in turn, but Pei Qian’s expression grew increasingly serious as he listened.
Not a single Loss Manager said the Tenda Spirit was about slacking off?
This… was a big problem!
The misunderstanding of the Tenda Spirit had already spread among the Loss Manager group, which meant that the upper, middle, and lower levels of each department were certainly all affected!
Pei Qian’s expression instantly became serious.
But he was somewhat puzzled. The content each Loss Manager described seemed to be about the same thing, yet the way they expressed it differed.
Pei Qian asked, “Is there a more unified, more concise explanation?”
The Loss Managers looked at each other and shook their heads.
“No.”
“Isn’t the core of the Tenda Spirit about enlightenment? How could there be a unified standard?”
“Yeah, Senior, isn’t that your consistent attitude?”
The corner of Pei Qian’s mouth twitched slightly.
Damn, my consistent attitude? When did I ever have an attitude?
But the problem was, since all these Loss Managers said there was no unified standard and it mainly depended on personal enlightenment, why had their understanding all very conveniently gone in the wrong direction?
This left Pei Qian quite perplexed. The entire company’s interpretation of the Tenda Spirit was problematic, yet it was impossible to pinpoint how!
It was hidden quite deep.
Pei Qian considered for a moment that he couldn’t dig any further from the Loss Managers and new employees, as it definitely wouldn’t yield any results.
What truly determined a department’s atmosphere and understanding of the Tenda Spirit wasn’t the entry-level employees, but the department heads and middle managers.
The formation of a department’s culture was top-down; the fact that all department Loss Managers had seriously misinterpreted the Tenda Spirit, veering toward a workaholic direction, indicated that the department heads had major issues!
To get a grip on this situation, he would have to start with these department heads.
Pei Qian looked at the date and suddenly had an idea.
Tomorrow was the 20th, which happened to be the pre-arranged monthly gathering at Nameless Restaurant.
Pei Qian decided to use this dinner to go fishing!
Invite all department heads to attend, and slightly “examine” their understanding of the Tenda Spirit.
If he could identify the culprit from among these department heads, Pei Qian wouldn’t mind arranging it clearly for them, whether reassigning them to Horror House or kicking them out to be responsible for some marginal business. In any case, they couldn’t continue to ruin Tenda’s culture!
If the culprit was hiding more deeply and couldn’t be identified, then he would find a way to reverse the current culture and guide everyone’s interpretation of the Tenda Spirit back to the right path.
With this in mind, Pei Qian said, “Good, that’s all for today. Meeting adjourned!”
“Oh, Xiao Tang, please stay behind.”
The other Loss Managers left one after another, leaving only Tang Yishu.
“Senior, is there something?” Tang Yishu asked.
Pei Qian smiled, “Nothing special, just wanted to give you a new task.”
Although Pei Qian planned to do some fishing tomorrow to thoroughly investigate which department heads had misinterpreted the Tenda Spirit, he was also self-aware enough to mentally prepare for finding nothing.
After all, the Tenda Spirit had been misinterpreted for so long, and Pei Qian had only just noticed, which suggested that this insider was very good at hiding.
That being the case, if Pei Qian investigated too openly, it would alarm everyone and put them on guard, which might not achieve the desired effect.
In this situation, Xiao Tang’s role as a “caretaker” could serve as a good disguise!
Pei Qian continued, “I want you to investigate the Tenda Spirit within the company. I’ve found that many employees like to mention the Tenda Spirit, but everyone’s interpretation is different.”
“I hope you can investigate where people’s interpretations of the Tenda Spirit come from, apart from their enlightenment. What influences them? If someone has objectively accelerated the spread of the Tenda Spirit, where is this transmission node?”
“In short, quietly observe and pay attention to all information related to the Tenda Spirit, especially the source.”
Tang Yishu blinked, her face full of confusion: “Senior, isn’t the source… with you?”
Pei Qian: “…”
“Ahem, I mean, besides me, is there a second or third source?”
Tang Yishu nodded: “Ah, understood, Senior. However, I’m a bit slow, so I might not discover anything…”
Pei Qian waved his hand: “It’s fine, this is a long-term task. You just need to pay a little attention and investigate gradually. Whatever you find, tell me immediately.”
Tang Yishu: “O-okay.”
—
November 20th, Sunday.
Nameless Restaurant.
The heads of various Tenda Group departments arrived one after another, embracing and greeting each other warmly, creating a harmonious scene.
“Long time no see! How’s your recent project going?”
“It’s okay, all thanks to Mr. Pei’s excellent leadership.”
“Oh, I was just about to tell you, I have a small matter that needs your department’s cooperation.”
“No problem, definitely will cooperate! Whatever you need, just ask!”
The department heads walked into Nameless Restaurant, chatting and laughing, each taking their seats.
It had been some time since a similar gathering of all department heads.
Although Nameless Restaurant was reserved on the 20th of each month, Mr. Pei also used it for various receptions, such as hosting bosses from other companies or treating departments that had made outstanding contributions as a form of recognition. Opportunities to gather all department heads for dinner were relatively few.
Although the department heads maintained contact with each other normally, everyone was quite busy with work, so occasions to gather for meals were infrequent.
There was no KPI competition between departments, and not much work pressure. The department heads mostly knew each other and were good friends, so the atmosphere on site was very harmonious.
Some department heads didn’t come, like Qiu Hong. He was currently busy in the capital preparing the incubation base for the “Last Resort Plan.”
Some new department heads had less interaction with other department heads, such as Liang Qingfan, who also took this opportunity to get to know the other department heads.
Soon, Mr. Pei arrived as well. Everyone took their seats and chatted while eating.
Pei Qian ate while looking at the more than twenty department heads before him, feeling inexplicably melancholic.
How had Tenda inexplicably developed so many departments?
Moreover, these were just the significant departments within the Tenda Group. The invested companies weren’t even counted, and there were already so many people.
He had originally just wanted to lose money, but unexpectedly, in order to lose money by opening new departments, the departments grew more and more numerous, making the goal of losing money increasingly distant.
It was truly melancholic!
After eating for a while, Pei Qian felt the timing was about right.
So, he gently tapped the table, signaling everyone to quiet down.
Seeing that Mr. Pei wanted to speak, the department heads immediately stopped their discussions, put on serious expressions, and looked at him in unison.
Everyone’s face was filled with anticipation.
