Chapter 898: Nurturing-Style + Fitness Game

Wang Xiaobin continued: “I’ve given this a lot of thought, and I believe most current fitness games and apps aren’t doing it right, so I’m taking a new approach.”

“In most fitness apps nowadays, the game characters users see look like fitness trainers. The trainers demonstrate standard movements, count sets, constantly encourage players… this is the conventional approach.”

“But I thought about it – if we do the same thing, we’ll just blend in with the crowd. Although fitness trainers are all good-looking men and women, you get visual fatigue after seeing them too much, and they can’t motivate users effectively.”

“So my idea is to create eight characters with different personalities in the game – four male and four female. They’ll perform the same movements as users, show proper form and count, but the difference is: they’re not fitness trainers – they’re people who need to get fit.”

Everyone was taken aback, somewhat puzzled.

Wang Xiaobin explained: “Simply put, the in-game characters are slightly overweight. For example, we’ll create a cute, slightly chubby girl. As players exercise with the Smart Fitness Drying Rack, this game character will also work out.”

“When the player reaches certain exercise milestones, this game character’s body will transform. From having somewhat thick thighs and a bit of belly fat, she’ll gradually become more perfect – her legs and waist getting slimmer, her buttocks getting more shapely.”

“The eight characters differ in: appearance and personality.”

“For appearance, we’ll provide various outfits for these characters. Users can unlock clothes through daily training and dress up these characters. Some beautiful clothing can only be worn after the character reaches certain fitness levels.”

“This way, through gaming mechanics, users get very clear goals and motivation.”

“And if these characters don’t exercise for a long time, their figures will gradually deteriorate. However, characters with training background will quickly recover their previous shape once they resume training.”

“As for packaging, our game needs to look super cool too.”

“The enemies in the game are round chubby fat monsters – somewhat like balloon-shaped little demons, cute and bouncy, but with strong vitality and hard to eliminate.”

“When players perform a movement on the Smart Fitness Drying Rack, the game character executes a corresponding in-game action.”

“For example, when the player does chest press, the in-game character does the same, but with combat effects on their arms. After charging up, a massive avatar appears behind the game character and attacks the fat monster: squishing it from both sides until it pops with a flame effect, making the fat monster shrink.”

“This hints that players are burning calories and losing fat through these movements.”

“Moreover, as training duration increases, later exercises deal more damage. This suggests to players that the longer they persist, the better the training effect, letting players feel their improvement and progress in each workout.”

“The same monster that takes thirty movements to defeat at the start will only need fifteen movements to kill near the end of training. This way, to progress faster in the game, players will push themselves to exhaustion each session.”

“Of course, specific training volume is calculated based on the player’s physical condition.”

“We’ll do a fitness test before starting the game, finding the right weight for players, estimating their fitness level from body data and heart rate, then create daily training plans – effective but not excessive.”

“The game also features various scenes like ice realms, lava fields, deserts etc., changing environments periodically for variety.”

“Additionally, the AI AEEIS equipped in the fitness equipment occasionally interacts with game characters for more fun: AEEIS uses the drying rack’s speakers, while game characters use phone speakers, creating a dimension-breaking conversation effect.”

“And when users haven’t exercised for a while, AEEIS gives ‘friendly reminders’ through the drying rack’s speakers.”

After Wang Xiaobin’s introduction, everyone’s faces lit up with delight.

They could actually turn fitness games into nurturing games?

Wang Xiaobin was right – although there are fitness games and apps in the market, they all share a flaw: “insufficient user motivation.”

Fitness requires long-term commitment, and most people lack enough willpower to persist.

With this “nurturing gameplay” design, users wanting to transform in-game characters from “slightly chubby” to “hot figures” and dress them in beautiful clothes must keep exercising.

Over time, this becomes habit, making persistence natural.

Of course, people have inertia – even the best equipment and games can’t guarantee they won’t gather dust.

Although the game has eight characters – four handsome guys and four pretty girls – what if players don’t like any of them? It’s possible.

But the current design truly minimizes the chance of abandonment.

Jiang Yuan was delighted: “Brother Wang is truly professional! I find this game very appealing!”

“But creating so many characters – what about development costs?”

Wang Xiaobin replied: “Costs won’t be too high. The game resources are limited – only a few scenes, movements, and monsters. The main expense will be creating detailed models for these eight characters at different stages.”

“However, we should prepare for the game itself not recouping costs.”

“My plan is to make the game free but add some in-app purchases – selling cosmetic items. Players can buy pretty dresses if they want, or slowly grind through fitness.”

“Also, pairing this game with equipment is like advertising for Tuoguan Fitness and Tenda’s other businesses.”

“Even with some losses, if it generates good advertising effects, that’s acceptable.”

After hearing Wang Xiaobin’s presentation, Chang You said: “I suddenly have an idea – not sure if it’s good.”

“This game sounds interesting, but if it requires equipment to play, the user base would be too narrow.”

“Should we create a lite version? The resources are ready anyway – just need another set of movements.”

“This lite version would be for people without Smart Fitness Drying Racks. All movements would be on yoga mats – push-ups, crunches, squats, burpees etc., providing some fitness benefits.”

“But mat-only exercises definitely aren’t as effective as using equipment.”

“Making two versions expands our user base – more players means more potential buyers, better cost recovery. It also creates subtle persuasion – when someone plays the lite version for a while, gets hooked, and sees online reviews from equipment users, they’ll naturally consider buying one.”

Wang Xiaobin had an epiphany: “Manager Chang makes a great point! Yes, we definitely should create a lite version.”

“The lite version’s weakness is inability to monitor proper form and training effectiveness, but something is better than nothing.”

“Great idea – I’ll add it right away!”

“Just… Coach Guo, could you create another training plan and movement set?”

Guo Licheng nodded: “No problem – that’s easy for me.”

After animated discussion, the Smart Fitness Equipment and “The Great Fitness Battle” game concepts were finally finalized.

Next, they’d refine details and enter formal preparation.

The equipment needed prototype development by manufacturers, while game development would begin at full speed.

After much deliberation, everyone realized this product, under Mr. Pei’s guidance and collective effort, had achieved increasingly clear positioning and mature design!

Everyone was filled with anticipation for this unprecedented smart fitness equipment and its innovative nurturing-style fitness game!
