“Now that the Dao sects’ great war has ended, the Severing Sect has fallen, and the Enlightenment Teaching has hidden in Kunlun Mountain, the time for our Western Teaching’s prosperity has arrived.
Bodhi, Jiaye, Ananda, you three must not enter seclusion recently, nor leave Spirit Mountain. Consider how to spread our Western Teaching’s essential principles.”
After saying this, Initiation Saint went into seclusion, becoming an absentee manager.
In the current world where saints no longer manifested, there was no choice but to be an absentee manager.
Now, things had returned to how they were before the Investiture Catastrophe, with the saints’ disciples all showing restraint, core disciples avoiding conflicts, and not involving the saints’ faces.
The Enlightenment Teaching and Western Teaching had been allied before, and there was hardly any conflict between the world’s great saint teachings.
Afterward, under Jiaye’s leadership, the Western Teaching disciples held a small meeting.
Li Changshou maintained silence most of the time, only speaking up with a few simple but meaningful words when he noticed the Western Teaching seemed to be heading down the ‘Buddhist path,’ steering them back toward what appeared to be a brighter path.
The road lay ahead, full of possibilities.
And without Maitreya and Ksitigarbha, as Li Changshou watched these Western Teaching saint disciples like Jiaye who only focused on cultivation and weren’t particularly skilled at planning and arrangements…
He felt quite lonely.
Jiaye proposed that to spread their doctrine, they should build many divine temples, manifest divine occurrences, and attract believers.
Li Changshou, as ‘Virtual Bodhi who had suffered beatings from the Celestial Court,’ pondered for a moment, intentionally probing the Western Teaching crowd, and said:
“If we’re to do this, we’d better first inform the Celestial Court.
We must not underestimate the Celestial Court. The losses we’ve suffered and the walls we’ve hit before are too numerous to count.
Now, we must face the Celestial Court properly.”
The Western Teaching disciples frowned slightly, looking at Li Changshou.
Jiaye said softly: “Senior Brother, have we… had any intense conflicts with the Celestial Court?”
Only one old Daoist showed a bitter smile, quietly shaking his head.
—Who didn’t have their hidden expert?
Li Changshou sighed inwardly.
He looked at Jiaye and the other disciples, carefully discerning whether they were acting, and quickly reached a conclusion.
Except for that old Daoist, these disciples’ memories had indeed been modified.
Just then, a transmitted voice sounded in Li Changshou’s mind — it was Initiation Saint.
Initiation sighed: “Bodhi, they have forgotten the existence of that human anomaly. You need only know this yourself. Don’t mention it in the world hereafter, as it’s now a heavenly dao taboo.”
‘Virtual Bodhi’ closed his eyes and nodded.
For all his calculations, he hadn’t expected the Western Teaching saint disciples to be so… so…
{Not strong}.
But looking at it from another angle, the Dao Ancestor must have expended considerable world original force on erasing his traces.
This was also a good thing.
Li Changshou looked at the Western Teaching senior and junior brothers before him and said slowly: “I must have remembered wrongly. Then please trouble you all to send someone to the Celestial Court.”
—Seniors commanding juniors, a Western Teaching internal tradition.
“This poor Daoist will go,” Jiaye said slowly.
An old Daoist nearby said softly: “After the Investiture Catastrophe, the Celestial Court has become ruler of the Three Realms. We should take this mission more seriously — perhaps more people should go.”
Thus, gazes turned toward ‘Virtual Bodhi.’
Li Changshou snorted, not responding at all.
He hadn’t fully adapted to Virtual Bodhi’s role yet, and for stability’s sake, he couldn’t easily venture into places where the heavenly dao’s power was most concentrated.
The Western Teaching disciples could only look away, discussing further before deciding on six saint disciples to form a ‘Celestial Court Visitation Group,’ heading to the Celestial Court tomorrow to discuss the Western Teaching’s evangelization.
Another old Daoist suggested informing the Enlightenment Teaching, but Li Changshou stopped this with one sentence.
“Everyone must remain vigilant. Now that the Severing Sect is gone, our alliance with the Enlightenment Teaching has already broken. Most of the resistance we’ll encounter in future evangelization will come from the Enlightenment Teaching.”
The disciples awakened as if from a dream, casting admiring looks at ‘Virtual Bodhi.’
“Senior Brother could even think of this point.”
“Ah, our Western Teaching suffered disaster from that Severing Sect, many fellow disciples died or were injured, and now we still need to rely on Senior Brother Bodhi’s strategic advice.”
“We are dim-witted, Senior Brother Bodhi, please guide us more.”
‘Virtual Bodhi’s’ expression softened slightly, his lips showing a confident smile.
Then, his forehead broke out in slight cold sweat, his brows furrowing slightly as he pressed his lips together, and closed his eyes, his expression turning somewhat ugly.
A strand of dao resonance slowly spread from Li Changshou’s heart — it was the Initiation Saint helping him sweep away the fear in his dao heart.
Regardless of stance, the saints were indeed good to their personally taught disciples;
Although the Western Teaching would unhesitatingly sell out disciples.
After the discussions, Li Changshou found Virtual Bodhi’s cave dwelling and calmly moved in.
Following Virtual Bodhi’s habits, he didn’t extend his divine sense to investigate;
For stability’s sake, he also didn’t use the Wind Speech Spell, simply quietly entering seclusion to comprehend his dao.
Several hours later, he strolled out of the cave-dwelling with his hands behind his back, appearing somewhat unsettled, and went to Spirit Mountain’s rear mountain, standing outside the palace where the Lotus Treasure Pool was located, gazing at the heavenly vault.
Incidentally, he also began to listen to Spirit Mountain disciples’ whispered conversations, understanding the modified Primordial World history.
How many times had such things happened in the ancient and distant past?
Li Changshou couldn’t be certain.
The only thing he could be certain of now was that the Dao Ancestor had spent considerable effort on this matter.
Originally, Senior Rogue had only hidden behind the scenes, with beings only seeing Senior Rogue’s second primordial spirit Fu Xi, so there weren’t many beings whose memories needed modification.
But he, Li Changshou, had been ‘famous’ in the Primordial World, so erasing his traces must have been quite troublesome.
He smiled.
‘Wonder how His Majesty the Jade Emperor is doing now.’
Li Changshou, piloting the Virtual Bodhi-type paper puppet, looked up at the sky, as if he could see those layers of heavenly palaces.
Looking at the Celestial Court he had helped build up, he suddenly felt like an old father.
The Chaos Bell had left with Little Jade Peak, and the Grand White Palace no longer bore his traces.
For this Primordial Treasure, not to mention carrying Little Jade Peak to escape, even carrying eight or ten Immortal Crossing Gates would be no problem.
One of the Chaos Bell’s major functions was that it could hold a small thousand-world within it, and then through the Chaos Bell control the flow of years, making this small thousand-world’s speed faster or slower.
He should return to make the appearance of entering seclusion, divide a strand of consciousness to stay here, and make other arrangements.
Deliberately sighing several times, ‘Virtual Bodhi’ returned to his cave dwelling with some unresolved melancholy, activated the formation, and under Initiation Saint’s nose, wrapped in the Dao of Resolving Emptiness, began to comprehend the methods of resolving emptiness.
‘All is an empty illusion.’
‘The Bodhi tree has no existence, the bright mirror is also not a stand.’
This dao skill was increasing slowly but steadily.
…
Opening his eyes, surrounded by pure saint light.
Li Changshou stretched, rose from his meditation cushion, and ordered the Four Plum Guardians to rest in shifts.
They were his professional technical team ensuring communication with the Primordial World — they couldn’t be allowed to get too tired.
Li Changshou pondered for a moment, transmitted a call, and treasure lights appeared around him, with several more streaks of light flying in from outside the hall.
Shortly after, treasure lights flashed chaotically in this great hall, with several important treasures arranged in a line before Li Changshou, their spiritual awareness connecting and linking to Li Changshou’s consciousness.
The Primordial Treasure Taiji Diagram, the Primordial Treasure Chaos Bell, the Primordial Supreme Grade Merit Divine Treasure Dark Yellow Tower, the Primordial Divine Treasure Earth-Leaving Flame Banner, the Primordial Divine Treasure Chaos Golden Dipper, the Primordial Divine Treasure Golden Flood Dragons Scissors, and the Primordial Divine Treasure Heart-Piercing Lock.
“Ahem!”
Li Changshou cleared his throat and said seriously: “The current situation isn’t optimistic. I want to have a thorough discussion with everyone first. Can you all manifest some forms?
Like the Chaos Bell has.”
With two light rings, the Chaos Bell’s spirit sat atop the bell, crossing its legs and winking at Li Changshou.
Then, streaks of treasure light flashed, and several more figures appeared.
The Taiji Diagram manifested a blurry figure, giving face to its little disciple, casually dealing with it.
At the top of the Dark Yellow Tower appeared an unshaven uncle wearing a dark robe, calmly sitting on the tower’s ‘point.’
The Earth-Leaving Flame Banner transformed into a middle-aged woman of ordinary appearance, wearing a dao robe and crane-feather hairpin, surrounded by strands of flame.
The Chaos Golden Dipper and Golden Flood Dragons Scissors transformed into two young women, while the Heart-Piercing Lock became a young Daoist.
Their forms were either normal-sized or miniature, simply for the convenience of communication, making it less strange when Li Changshou spoke with them.
The Golden Flood Dragons Scissors girl asked softly: “Why is Master’s brother-in-law holding a meeting with us, instead of finding Master?”
“What I’m about to discuss concerns you, not your master.”
Li Changshou said gently, nodding slightly to Elder Diagram, “Elder Diagram, please introduce the current situation of the world.”
The blurry figure that Elder Diagram had transformed into spoke:
“Currently, the Four Saints’ great daos are sealed, their divine powers have become a force that the Heavenly Dao can utilize, and the Primordial World has become a place completely controlled by the Dao Ancestor.
The Dao Ancestor struck first earlier, and our defeat was actually within the Master’s calculations, but the Master couldn’t find a way to break through it.
However, the Master has high hopes for his little disciple.
The Master has said that only his little disciple can bring truly unexpected variables to the Primordial World.”
Li Changshou nodded with a smile.
The young Daoist transformed from the Heart-Piercing Lock had a somewhat gloomy expression. He sighed dejectedly and mumbled:
“Why didn’t Master use me to harm enemies before…
In the end, I was too weak, and couldn’t keep up with Master’s rate of improvement…
Perhaps I should be reforged.”
Li Changshou smiled without speaking, taking out the God-Slaying Spear, but its spirituality was quite weak, and couldn’t communicate directly with them.
This spear had been too severely damaged before.
Li Changshou said: “There weren’t many opportunities to use you in battle before, but every divine treasure has its value. Don’t be discouraged.”
Uncle Tower chuckled: “What’s the matter, Little Lock? You couldn’t break through my defense either.”
The Heart-Piercing Lock gave a dry laugh and continued to hang his head, while Uncle Tower raised his eyebrows at him.
The Bell Spirit laughed and scolded: “Why are you so provocative? If you’ve got the ability, go taunt the Two Banners.”
“That won’t do,” Uncle Tower instantly backed down. “Better not mess with the Chaos Sword Qi. After all, we’re the Master’s treasures, it would be breaking hierarchy for it to fight us.”
The Earth-Leaving Flame Banner’s spirit smiled and said: “So, Brother Ruler truly wasn’t deliberately left with the Master in the Purple Void Palace because that dialect was too difficult to handle?”
“What dialect?” the Chaos Golden Dipper girl asked softly.
“The Heaven-Earth Ruler is quite strong too,” the Golden Flood Dragons Scissors girl played with the two azure dragon spirits in her hands. “After all, it’s the Heaven-Earth Dao.”
“Everyone, hey!”
Seeing the situation about to spiral out of control, Li Changshou forcefully brought the topic back: “Let’s discuss business.”
The treasure spirits quickly quieted down, each looking at Li Changshou.
Li Changshou hummed twice, speaking unhurriedly and systematically.
“It’s like this — I’ve been thinking about a question: after overthrowing the Dao Ancestor, what kind of system should we establish in the Primordial World?
This is a major proposition, but we must have an advanced conception.
Rebelling against Heaven is important, but how to establish order after rebellion is even more critically important.
We can’t simply say we’ll replace the Dao Ancestor and become the next Dao Ancestor. Whether favoring living beings or favoring heaven and earth, that would just be a copy of the Dao Ancestor.
Therefore, we need a system to maintain harmony between heaven, earth, and living beings… Do you all understand this meaning?”
The treasure spirits showed varied expressions.
Elder Diagram’s blurry face revealed a gentle smile as he said:
“This is excellent.”
Bell Spirit said: “But someone needs to be in charge… the Jade Emperor? But though the Jade Emperor is this way now, he may not necessarily be this way in the future. Living beings all change, and their desires constantly change too.
Very few living beings can withstand the test of time and the corruption of power and desire.
Dong Huang Taiyi was like this — I was too disappointed in him later.”
Li Changshou smiled and said: “That’s why I called you all here to discuss.”
The treasure spirits were momentarily stunned.
Li Changshou smiled and said:
“Letting living beings rise above the great dao and nature isn’t good, and vice versa.
But the Primordial World itself has actually already provided a solution — beings that exist between the great dao and living beings… you all.
Primordial Divine Treasures.
Each Primordial Divine Treasure can be considered an incarnation of the great dao, yet has developed its spirituality.
This spirituality is constrained by dao principles, unable to generate personal desires, and relatively speaking, can maintain more impartiality than living beings.
My current conception is that after overthrowing the Dao Ancestor, we’ll distribute the Dao Ancestor’s authority over the Heavenly Dao to thirty-six Primordial Divine Treasures, giving them the mission of monitoring the Heavenly Dao and the Celestial Court, as a complement to the Celestial Court system.
And through this, keep Primordial Divine Treasures distant from living beings.”
The treasures all had blank expressions.
The Taiji Diagram asked: “If divine treasures make wrong judgments, or are deceived by living beings, what then?”
“No matter, I have other backup plans,” Li Changshou said. “Having Primordial Divine Treasures that can be constrained by the great dao yet also master it fully participate in the Heavenly Dao’s operation would benefit the Heavenly Dao itself considerably.
And what you all need to be most vigilant about is one point — you can’t be assimilated by the Heavenly Dao and become the new Heavenly Dao will.
I will pay special attention to this issue and provide different solutions and backup measures.
This is the first matter.
I haven’t completed the list of thirty-six Primordial Divine Treasures yet. There needs to be Heaven, Earth, and Human attributes, with each attribute occupying eleven positions, totaling thirty-three treasures, corresponding to the Celestial Court’s thirty-three layers of heaven.
Elder Diagram, Pangu Banner, Bell, you three were transformed from the Heaven-Opening Divine Axe. In the future, you’ll need to stabilize the entire Primordial World’s destiny, serving as general supervisors.
Among the Heaven, Earth, and Human attributes, I’ve listed the Heaven Book Investiture List and Demon-Striking Rod, Earth Book Heaven-Earth Embryo Membrane, and Human Book Life-Death Register as the primary parts.”
Li Changshou’s finger pointed lightly, and images of various treasures appeared in the great hall.
“Thus, the thirty-six divine treasures supervision system, Celestial Court system, and Heavenly Dao power can be perfectly unified, and the Primordial World will naturally become more stable than it is now.
Do you all have any opinions?”
The treasures all fell silent for a while, feeling somewhat shocked.
Bell Spirit asked: “Will the Creation Jade Plate also be in this system?”
“No,” Li Changshou said. “If we can seize the Creation Jade Plate, it will be used for expanding the Primordial World’s boundaries, organizing the Three Thousand Great Daos, and strengthening heaven and earth.
Of course, if we can’t seize it, then we’ll have to shatter it.”
The Chaos Golden Dipper girl asked: “Won’t the treasures be influenced by their respective masters?”
Li Changshou answered: “I will have the chosen divine treasures return to a masterless state, fill in their lacking spirituality, and give them different symbolic meanings.”
“Master’s brother-in-law,” the Golden Flood Dragons Scissors girl asked softly, “I want to stay with Master, what should I do?”
Li Changshou smiled and said: “No matter, I will respect your choices. Now there’s only a framework conception, the list hasn’t been finalized.”
Elder Diagram said: “Perhaps this will redefine the meaning of treasures’ existence. Heaven and earth endure long, living beings change in cycles, and if we remain undamaged, we exist eternally with the dao.
Without masters’ constraints, we would tend toward the dao.”
“I will endow you with the belief in protecting all living beings,” Li Changshou said seriously, “and transform this belief into the dao of divine treasures.
Moreover, you are a complementary part of the Celestial Court system, not directly deciding anything, and the Celestial Court will constantly monitor your activities.
Do you understand this?”
Elder Diagram’s blurry figure slowly nodded.
“Any more questions?”
Seeing the spirits shake their heads, Li Changshou smiled and said: “This is just looking toward the future. We should be more practical, starting now to accumulate strength to overthrow the Dao Ancestor.
You will be of utmost importance going forward. I will continuously strengthen you using every means.
But these enhancements will be taken back after everything is finished.”
Bell Spirit asked: “How will you strengthen us?”
“With this,” Li Changshou opened his left hand, and a flame danced gently. Two firefly-like points of light flew from the side, were swallowed by the flame, and transformed into three qi essences of gold, black, and gray.
Merit, karmic sin, and true spirit ashes.
Li Changshou said: “Later, I will have Kun Peng lead several experts to hunt everywhere in the Chaos Sea, killing Chaos Divine Demons to capture true spirit power.
Then transform the true spirit power into merit and karmic sin — merit for you all, karmic sin to reforge the God-Slaying Spear.
The God-Slaying Spear is also a relatively important part of the divine treasure system. It will become the blade hanging over the Celestial Court’s head. I will bury it beneath all living beings.
If Heaven is unjust and all divine treasures withdraw, this spear will manifest and choose a living being to wield it.”
The treasure spirits fell silent again.
“Hmm—”
Bell Spirit puzzled: “From what you’re saying, it sounds like after overthrowing the Dao Ancestor, you want to establish a complete system based on Primordial Treasures, then withdraw yourself?”
“Correct.”
Li Changshou revealed a faint smile:
“My dao is too clear, non-action is self-purifying.
Rather than becoming the next Dao Ancestor, I would naturally prefer to roam the Three Realms and Chaos Sea without worries, accompanied by my beloved, properly appreciating this world.
Speaking shamefully, I haven’t truly appreciated the beauty of the Primordial World many times in all my time here.
Everyone, you can speak of this matter to your masters, but it’s best to keep it secret for now.”
The treasures each nodded, all remaining silent.
“Come, let me first detail this system, and you all can also recommend some Primordial Divine Treasures. Try not to recommend similar types.
Once this system is sketched out, we can also win more allies in the future.”
Treasure light flashed again in the great hall as these Primordial Divine Treasures began speaking continuously, one after another, truly providing many pertinent suggestions.
