Chapter 455: Intimate Moments

After embracing for a moment, Qiao Zhao gently pushed Shao Mingyuan: “You should let go now.”

Shao Mingyuan obediently released her.

Seeing how compliant he was, Qiao Zhao felt somewhat uncomfortable inside.

In the past, he definitely wouldn’t have been so obedient. The matter with his eyes had truly left a shadow in his heart.

If it were brain blood clots pressing on the meridians around his eyes, it would be fine if the clots could disperse in time, but if not, prolonged damage would cause the meridians to die and truly become irreparable.

Thinking of this, Qiao Zhao was as anxious as fire, but she couldn’t show it and worry about Shao Mingyuan.

“From now on, I’ll come give you a massage and acupuncture after every meal. You must tell me exactly what you feel—no hiding anything.”

Shao Mingyuan nodded with a smile: “Alright, I’ll listen to everything you say.”

Perhaps because he hadn’t groomed carefully, stubble had appeared on his chin, making him look more rugged than usual. Qiao Zhao felt her face grow warm looking at him and turned her gaze away: “No matter what, don’t be slovenly, or people will discover something’s wrong sooner or later.”

“I’m not being slovenly.” Shao Mingyuan’s tone was innocent, his ears gradually reddening.

Though he couldn’t see, he had still carefully washed and groomed himself upon waking this morning. His clothes were prepared by Ye Luo and shouldn’t have any problems either—how was he being slovenly?

“Your beard is growing out.” Qiao Zhao reached out and poked his chin with her finger.

Hmm, so this is what it feels like. Miss Qiao thought silently.

The young general was struck as if by lightning, unable to move for a long time.

He could feel the girl’s soft fingertip gliding across his chin, even playfully rubbing the stubble there, making his heart burn with waves of heat.

Shao Mingyuan couldn’t help but grasp Qiao Zhao’s hand with his fingertips.

“Shao Mingyuan.” Qiao Zhao called out. “Don’t fool around—your hand injury hasn’t healed yet.”

The young general asked with sudden inspiration: “Then, when my hand injury heals, may I hold your hand?”

“Absolutely not!” What if someone saw them?

“Just when we’re alone together.”

“Still not allowed!” If he were thinking about holding her hand when they were alone now, wouldn’t he want other things when that time came? She couldn’t let this guy push his luck.

“But I can’t see. If I don’t hold your hand, I always feel like no one is beside me.” The man said pitifully.

Qiao Zhao pressed her lips together, looking at the man’s bright, pure eyes. Her heart softened after all, and she gave a soft “Mm.”

Shao Mingyuan grinned foolishly.

Qiao Zhao stood up: “I’ll go back first to study the medical books and see if there might be better methods.”

She really couldn’t stand leaving everything to luck like this.

“Zhaozhao, stay for another quarter hour, please?”

Zhaozhao had agreed to get engaged to him. He wanted to announce it to the world immediately, but in his current state, he couldn’t do anything. If left alone, he might jump into the sea from excitement.

“Why are you being so clingy? Don’t we see each other every day?” Though she said this, Qiao Zhao still sat back down.

The room fell quiet for a moment, with ambiguous sparks flowing through that silence, making one feel restless and uneasy.

Qiao Zhao uncomfortably clenched her fists.

That person clearly couldn’t see—why was she nervous?

“Zhaozhao, I want to ask a question.”

“Go ahead.”

Shao Mingyuan leaned slightly toward her voice and asked with a smile: “Why did you kiss me just now?”

Qiao Zhao’s face immediately bloomed with red clouds as she said in embarrassed anger: “Shao Mingyuan, shut up!”

Asking when he knew the answer—did he have no shame?

The man close at hand remained composed, his handsome face suddenly magnifying in Qiao Zhao’s eyes.

The man’s burning, dry lips pressed against hers, licking and gently biting. Taking advantage of her lips parting slightly in shock, he nimbly slipped inside, entangling desperately.

“General—” Chen Guang’s voice sounded from outside the door.

Qiao Zhao abruptly pushed away the misbehaving man. Her face like peach blossoms, she said through gritted teeth: “Shao Mingyuan, if you act so shamelessly again, I’ll give you a needle!”

The pushed-away man looked somewhat aggrieved: “Understood.”

The previously aggrieved-looking man quickly transformed to an expressionless appearance and asked coolly: “What is it?”

“General, that man has woken up. Would you and Miss Li like to go take a look?”

“Mm, understood.” Shao Mingyuan stood up.

“Wait a moment.” Qiao Zhao couldn’t help but blur out.

“Mm?” Shao Mingyuan was somewhat puzzled.

Qiao Zhao bit her lip in annoyance: “If I tell you to wait, then wait!”

Men were annoying when they talked too much.

She quickly tidied her slightly disheveled hair, touched her face to make sure it wasn’t so hot anymore, then stood up and said coolly: “Let’s go.”

Shao Mingyuan walked in front while Qiao Zhao followed behind, coldly watching his composed gait and sighing quietly.

Suddenly losing one’s sight—there were probably very few people in this world who could remain as calm as Shao Mingyuan. If it were her, she would probably need to feel dejected for quite a while before being able to face it calmly.

Thinking this way, Qiao Zhao’s anger from someone’s rude behavior just now unconsciously dissipated.

Forget it. She wouldn’t hold these things against him now—she’d settle accounts after he recovered.

Shao Mingyuan pulled open the door.

Chen Guang quickly glanced at Qiao Zhao and said respectfully: “General, Young Master Chi and Lord Yang are both in that man’s room, waiting for you and Miss Li to come over. You probably don’t know where that man was placed, so please follow this subordinate.”

“Miss Li already knows.” Shao Mingyuan coolly dropped this news.

Chen Guang stumbled and looked at Qiao Zhao in shock: “Third Miss knows?”

Qiao Zhao nodded.

Though Shao Mingyuan couldn’t see, he knew Chen Guang was now looking at Qiao Zhao, and immediately felt displeased.

He couldn’t even see his Zhaozhao—why should others get to see her?

“Hurry up and lead the way!” The young general ordered his subordinate expressionlessly.

“Yes!” Chen Guang responded loudly and walked with the wind beneath his feet.

Why did the general do this to himself? Wouldn’t it have been better to tell Miss Li from the beginning? He insisted on hiding it, and managed to hide it for only one day!

The young guard shook his head and sighed as he walked.

Their always wise, mighty, and resourceful general was truly amazing—he actually managed to hide it for a whole day.

“Tingquan, Miss Li, you’re finally here! This bastard woke up!” As soon as he saw Qiao Zhao and the other enter, Yang Houcheng said indignantly.

Qiao Zhao stepped forward and spoke first: “He’s awake?”

When the man woke up and saw Yang Houcheng and Chi Can, his expression didn’t change much, but upon seeing Qiao Zhao enter, he looked as if he’d seen something terrifying. His face went white with fear, and hearing Qiao Zhao’s question, his teeth chattered: “A-awake…”

“What’s your name?”

“Hu Da.”

“Are you the leader of this group?”

“N-no, I’m not…” Hu Da hastily denied.

“Lying again!” Miss Qiao frowned.

Seeing her frown, Hu Da nearly burst into tears: “Yes, yes, yes, I am! Please spare my life, Miss. Don’t throw me into the sea—”

Was this young lady a demon? Why could she see through him again?

Qiao Zhao sneered: “This better not happen again. Now tell us—where did you get those women, and who did you sell them to?”
