Chapter 83: Xu Qingchen’s Whereabouts

Ye Li returned to her room with a poetry collection and settled down to read. Princess Anxi’s ability to become the Crown Princess of Nanzhao proved she wasn’t a mindless royal – at least the people she sent to monitor others were discreet enough not to make guests feel offended. Ye Li couldn’t be bothered to say more about it. If Princess Anxi truly believed her completely, that would be cause to question the Nanzhao Crown Princess’s intelligence.

“Miss, Princess Anxi has left the mansion,” Dark Two entered and said in a low voice.

Ye Li nodded and spoke softly, “That princess isn’t simple. Don’t get too close to her to avoid misunderstandings.” Dark Two frowned and glanced at the door, “She doesn’t trust us at all. Staying here seems pointless and makes it harder for us to leave.” Ye Li shook her head, “Princess Anxi must know where Big Brother went. Even though she can’t find him now, she’s not worried about his safety. What has Big Brother been doing since entering Nanzhao? Can you find out?” Dark Two nodded, “I’ll have the information for Miss by tomorrow.” Ye Li nodded, frowning at the book in her hands while her mind wandered far away. Big Brother wasn’t kidnapped but went somewhere of his own accord. However, he didn’t return at the agreed time with Princess Anxi. Big Brother had no conflicting interests or enemies in Nanzhao, so it must have been for Princess Anxi’s sake. Even so… given Big Brother’s nature of inheriting Uncle’s flawless strategic thinking, he shouldn’t have left without any traces. Where could the clues be?

Laying a sheet of paper on the table, Ye Li took out her usual charcoal pen and quickly began writing and drawing. Her mind continuously recalled the complex information about the Southern Frontier that the dark guards had delivered last night, rapidly sketching out power distribution structures and analyzing relationships between various forces in the Nanzhao capital. Soon, the large sheet was covered in dense symbols and strange characters. Dark Two looked curiously at the incomprehensible markings but didn’t ask questions. Ye Li put down her pen and stared at the paper, startled herself. It wasn’t that she deliberately wanted to keep secrets – this paper merely reorganized the information she’d seen last night. Looking at the flowing text that mixed at least four countries’ writing systems, Ye Li couldn’t help but smile wryly to herself. Had she been longing for her past life? She could have been a perfectly quiet and proper princess consort, but she simply didn’t like it. That’s why after leaving the capital, she deliberately avoided Mo Xiuyao’s protection and chose a more dangerous way to travel.

Pushing aside the chaotic thoughts, Ye Li stared at the paper spread on the table for a long time before frowning and asking, “Why is there no information about the Holy Maiden of the Southern Frontier?” The clear diagram showed their severe lack of information about this crucial figure in the Southern Frontier. Even what little existed was just brief mentions. They were all basic details that barely differed from what she knew in the capital – just age and name, not even physical characteristics. If the Holy Maiden was truly engaged in an open and secret power struggle with the Crown Princess to usurp authority, there couldn’t be so little information.

Dark Two explained, “The Holy Maiden is revered as the guardian deity of the Southern Frontier tribes, enshrined in the Holy Maiden Temple five li outside Nanzhao City. Unless there are major events or festivals, the Holy Maiden doesn’t leave the temple. Only thirty-six chosen temple maidens can approach her normally. The current Holy Maiden, Shu Manlin, took position at fifteen and in eight years has left the temple only ten times, always wearing a mask. They say besides the previous Holy Maiden who has entered the sacred grounds, no one in all of Nanzhao knows what she looks like.”

Ye Li shook her head, “That’s impossible. The current Holy Maiden has no right to train her successor, so who taught the Holy Maiden, who raised her as a child? Who are her parents? Moreover… if truly no one has seen the Holy Maiden’s real face, then… who can be certain the person behind that mask is the Holy Maiden of the Southern Frontier?”

“This…” Dark Two hesitated with furrowed brows. Ye Li picked up her pen and wrote several lines firmly on the paper, “Investigate the Nanzhao royal family and Holy Maiden’s information again, don’t miss any detailed clues.”

Dark Two responded, “Yes, I’ll have people handle it right away. Miss suspects… the Holy Maiden…”

Ye Li played with the charcoal pen in her hand and smiled faintly, “If the Holy Maiden rarely leaves the temple, how did she get involved with the Li King? When the Li King visited the Southern Frontier years ago, the Holy Maiden never appeared. So…” Dark Two’s eyes lit up, “They must have met privately. For something as important as allying with the Southern Frontier, the Li King wouldn’t send representatives, and the Holy Maiden isn’t easily accessible.” Ye Li nodded, leaning back in her chair thoughtfully, “Holy Maiden… what a strange position. Suddenly elevating a young woman of unknown identity, background, and ability to one of the most revered positions in the Southern Frontier. Are the people of the Southern Frontier too trusting?” Dark Two shook his head and shrugged, “If someone random was named Crown Prince in our Great Chu, even with the Emperor’s decree, they likely couldn’t win people’s support.”

“Has the Holy Maiden system existed as long as Nanzhao’s history?”

“Not quite that long. Before Nanzhao’s founding, when the tribes were separate, there was no Holy Maiden. It started after Nanzhao’s establishment when the Imperial Advisor, who was also the royal family’s priest, chose the first Holy Maiden,” Dark Two recalled. Ye Li raised an eyebrow, “Sounds like the Imperial Advisor and Holy Maiden had similar roles, so after the Holy Maiden appeared, Nanzhao never used the Imperial Advisor title again.” Dark Two nodded, pondering for a moment, “The Imperial Advisor’s movements weren’t as restricted as the Holy Maiden’s, though their duties were similar. However, in the hearts of the Southern Frontier people, the Holy Maiden commands more reverence.”

“Compared to an old man who wanders around, people generally prefer mysterious and beautiful young women,” Ye Li agreed.

In the early morning, after eating the breakfast brought by the servants, Ye Li prepared to go out with Dark Two. However, they met Princess Anxi, who was also about to leave, at the door. “Miss Chu, are you heading out?” Ye Li approached with a hopeful yet anxious smile, “Princess Sister, is there any news of Brother Qingchen?” Princess Anxi shook her head regretfully, “I’m sorry, Miss Chu. There’s still no news of Young Master Qingchen.” Ye Li lowered her head disappointedly, saying softly, “It’s alright, Brother Qingchen will be fine. Lin Han and I will also look for Brother Qingchen, we’ll surely find him soon.”

“Miss Chu is new to Nanzhao and unfamiliar with the area. Where will you search?”

Ye Li fidgeted with her fingers uncertainly, speaking quietly, “I… I’ll look around, maybe, maybe I’ll find him.” Princess Anxi couldn’t help but smile, “If Miss Chu feels bored, you can walk around the capital. If there’s anywhere you’d like to go, the mansion staff can guide you. However, there are many dangerous places in the Southern Frontier, Miss Chu must not risk going alone. We wouldn’t want Young Master Qingchen to worry.” Ye Li nodded, “I understand, thank you, Princess Sister. You’ll find Brother Qingchen quickly, right? Otherwise, I should write to Uncle Xu. Brother Qingchen says Uncle Xu is the smartest person in the world, he’ll surely find a way to locate Brother Qingchen.”

“Master Hongyu?” Princess Anxi paused, speaking softly.

Ye Li nodded firmly, smiling, “Princess Sister knows Uncle Xu too? Did Brother Qingchen tell you?”

Princess Anxi nodded slightly, smiling, “Please rest assured, Miss Chu. I promise we’ll find Young Master Qingchen soon. The Southern Frontier’s roads are treacherous, let’s not worry Master Hongyu. Young Master Qingchen would be uneasy if he knew, wouldn’t he?” Ye Li blinked, looking bewildered at Princess Anxi for a while before nodding, “Princess Sister is right.”

Watching Princess Anxi leave, Ye Li followed behind with a faint smile as she exited the princess’s mansion. “Have someone follow Princess Anxi.”

“Yes.”

At the inn, Han Mingxi walked down to the main hall looking satisfied as if he’d just woken up. His languid yet elegant demeanor, distinctly different from the Southern Frontier people, immediately drew everyone’s attention. Han Mingxi naturally paid no mind to others’ stares, lazily walking downstairs to ask the busy waiter, “Have you seen the two gentlemen who came with me?” The waiter, dazzled by the sight before him, quickly replied, “Young Master, those two gentlemen left early this morning. Oh right, there’s also a letter for you.” The waiter hurried to the counter to get the letter from the innkeeper and delivered it to Han Mingxi. Han Mingxi raised an eyebrow, took the letter, and frowned after a glance, “Jun Weizhen is so inconsiderate, how could he sneak away and leave me behind? Hmph, there’s no one this young master can’t find.” He casually crumpled the letter, waved it around, then hesitated and tucked it into his sleeve before storming out, leaving behind a roomful of stunned travelers who hadn’t yet recovered their senses.

At that moment, in a private room of a Great Chu restaurant opposite the inn, Ye Li sat leisurely by the window drinking tea, dressed in male attire. Dark Three had replaced Dark Two at her side. Looking out the window, she could see Han Mingxi walking out, grumbling and full of resentment. Ye Li watched amusedly as Han Mingxi disappeared into the crowd, and asked, “What did Han Mingxi do yesterday?”

Dark Three replied solemnly, “Young Master Han went out at midnight the night before and didn’t return until midnight last night. He probably went to Tianyi Pavilion’s Nanzhao branch. We’ve always maintained a mutual non-interference policy with Tianyi Pavilion. Young Master… should we investigate?”

Ye Li shook her head, “No need, as long as he doesn’t interfere with us. Pay attention to Dark Four’s information, don’t let us be caught unaware if Han Mingyue shows up.”

Dark Three nodded, “Strictly speaking, Young Master hasn’t schemed against Tianyi Pavilion, and Young Master Han came to the Southern Frontier of his own accord. The Pavilion Master shouldn’t trouble us.”

“That’s not certain. Has Tianyi Pavilion been sending regular updates?” Ye Li asked.

“Yes, I’ve compared the information from Tianyi Pavilion with our intelligence, there isn’t much difference,” Dark Three responded.

Ye Li nodded with satisfaction, “That’s good… if someone could deceive both our dark guards and Tianyi Pavilion, we wouldn’t be wrong to be fooled. Later, ask Tianyi Pavilion for information about the Southern Frontier’s Holy Maiden. I’ve already told Han Mingxi I want the Youluoming flower, so he won’t be suspicious if we ask about the Holy Maiden now.”

“Yes. Young Master, there’s also news from the Sick Scholar. Master Liang likely won’t hold out much longer, should you…”

Ye Li frowned in frustration. She hadn’t expected to receive news of Big Brother’s disappearance as soon as she arrived in Nanzhao, leaving her not only unable to get advice or help from Xu Qingchen but also needing to find his whereabouts in the shortest possible time. Though stretched thin, she absolutely couldn’t ignore the Sick Scholar’s situation.

“Master Liang isn’t a martial artist after all, and the Sick Scholar’s methods would likely overwhelm even trained fighters,” she said. “Previously, the Sick Scholar had feared killing Master Liang would leave him without any leads, but now with the token in his possession, even if Master Liang died without talking, he could find clues with some effort. Besides, without the token, Master Liang couldn’t fulfill his end either.”

“Where are they?”

“Outside the city.”

Ye Li thought for a moment and said, “Finding Big Brother takes priority. Have the dark guards watch them closely. If necessary, we can help the Luoyi tribe’s people rescue Master Liang. We absolutely cannot let him tell the Sick Scholar how to obtain the Biluo flower. At least not before we have time to handle it. If we can’t prevent it, we’ll have to take it by force, and if we can’t take it, destroy the Biluo flower! We cannot let the Sick Scholar get it.”

Dark Three hesitated, “The Biluo flower might be able to cure the Prince’s illness. If we destroy it…”

“That’s why we must try our best to get it. But if we really can’t obtain it, we can’t let the Sick Scholar have it either. Who do you think he’ll target first once he gets the Biluo flower?” Ye Li asked with a smile.

“The Prince?”

Ye Li gazed out the window with a faint smile, “The Sick Scholar is the Third Master of Yenwang Manor. If he wanted to do something, he could easily send Yenwang Manor’s subordinates to handle it. Yet this time he came to the Southern Frontier alone without using any of Yenwang Manor’s resources. Why? Certainly, because the other two masters of Yenwang Manor didn’t agree. Years ago, the Sick Scholar was severely injured and nearly died, even now he’s barely alive – how could he not hate? But Yenwang Manor made a pact with the Dinguo Prince’s Manor to never interfere with each other. So he can only rely on himself…”

Remembering the vengeful look in the Sick Scholar’s eyes when he mentioned Biluo Huangquan, Ye Li couldn’t help but shudder. She’d even briefly considered striking first and killing the Sick Scholar, but the thought was fleeting. Whether due to the Sick Scholar’s identity or other reasons, they couldn’t kill him now – at least, he couldn’t die by the Dinguo Prince’s wife’s hand.

“I understand. We absolutely won’t let the Sick Scholar get the Biluo flower.”

In a secret palace somewhere in Nanzhao, intricate patterns adorned the marble floors and pillars, while precious gems set in exquisite gold decorations and countless luminous pearls replaced candles for lighting. The Southern Frontier’s most precious lotus gauze draped in layers. Behind the gauze curtains, an elegant white-robed man sat quietly reading. Under the soft glow of the luminous pearls, the man’s perfect profile was rimmed with a faint radiance, making him appear even more serene and peaceful.

The heavy stone door was pushed open from outside, and a tall, graceful woman entered slowly. Unlike traditional Southern Frontier attire, she wore a broad yellow outer robe embroidered with phoenix patterns, its hem trailing on the ground. Her black hair was casually pinned up, adorned with elaborate five-colored jeweled ornaments, while an exquisite golden mask concealed her entire face. The delicate mask carried a strange allure, making the eyes beneath it even more mesmerizing.

The woman walked over elegantly and laughed softly while looking at the white-robed man, “Young Master Qingchen, do you not want to look at me? Just nod, and I’ll remove my mask for you.”

Xu Qingchen put down his book, sighed lightly, and looked up to ask, “Are you… more beautiful than those in the Great Chu Beauty Scroll from years ago?”

This seemed to be Xu Qingchen’s first response to this question, and the woman was somewhat surprised, “You prefer women from Great Chu? I’ve heard of the Great Chu Beauty Scroll too. Which one do you prefer? Is it Su Meidie, who was called Great Chu’s greatest beauty? She’s dead now, isn’t she?”

Xu Qingchen smiled faintly, “Su Meidie… was indeed a fine beauty. If you’re not even as beautiful as her, there’s no need to look.”

“You!” A flash of anger crossed the woman’s eyes, but she quickly calmed down and laughed, “Young Master Qingchen is too picky. From what I hear, that little fiancée of yours is quite pretty, but… she’s hardly a legendary beauty, is she?”

Xu Qingchen lowered his eyes, quietly concealing the strange look in them. The woman took his silence as agreement and snorted softly, “Speaking of which, Miss Chu is indeed deeply devoted to you, traveling thousands of miles to the Southern Frontier with just one guard. In that respect, Miss Chu doesn’t seem like a woman from the Central Plains.”

“Where is she?” Xu Qingchen asked.

“Hehe, she made quite a scene yesterday, barging into our Crown Princess Anxi’s mansion. Since Crown Princess Anxi and you are good friends, she’ll surely take good care of your fiancée.” The woman laughed behind her sleeve, “Young Master Qingchen, won’t you consider my proposal? After we succeed… we could rule the world together.”

Xu Qingchen remained composed and said softly, “If I’m not mistaken, three years ago, you made the same promise to share the world with Great Chu’s Li King.”

The woman scoffed and waved her sleeve, laughing, “Mo Jingli? How could he compare to you? No… I believe that in this world, except for the Ding Prince, no one can compare to you. It’s just… the Ding Prince is already ruined, and you are the most perfect man in the world and the most suitable match for me.”

Xu Qingchen shook his head, “I sincerely apologize. The Xu family rules state that we marry for virtue, not beauty, wealth, or power. One wife in this lifetime is enough for me. Miss, keeping me here probably won’t help you much. Nanzhao’s capital isn’t large, people will find this place sooner or later.”

The woman leaned against a marble pillar, giggling, “Aren’t you afraid I’ll kill you? These past months, how many schemes have you helped Anxi with, how many of my plans have you ruined? You like women from the Central Plains, don’t I resemble them more than Anxi?”

Xu Qingchen shook his head, lowered it to continue reading, and said, “If you wanted to kill me, you would have done so already, and besides… what benefit would killing me bring you?”

“Correct.” The woman sighed helplessly, “Killing you would bring too many troubles. The Xu family from the Central Plains, perhaps even the Dinguo Prince’s Manor would cause problems for me. And our Crown Princess would certainly fight me to the death. However… hehe, though I can’t kill you, I can keep you here. This way you won’t be able to ruin my plans. Without you interfering, before long that proud, annoying woman Anxi will die quite miserably. Of course… so will your lovely fiancée.”

“Don’t you dare touch her!” Xu Qingchen seemed provoked, warning coldly.

“Oh? You care about her?” The woman looked at Xu Qingchen with curiosity, “How could you like such an immature little girl?” Xu Qingchen replied coolly, “As long as she’s my fiancée, I will naturally care about her.” The woman stared at him, “You mean that regardless of what kind of person she is, you’ll care about her just because she’s your fiancée?” Xu Qingchen smiled, “Isn’t that natural? Since she’s my future wife, if I don’t care about her, who will?”

“You… fine, this lady will specifically target her just to show you!” the woman sneered, glaring at Xu Qingchen before storming out.

Hearing the heavy stone door close again, Xu Qingchen slowly put down his book. His handsome eyes lowered gently, “Fiancée… Miss Chu… Li’er…”

Late at night, Princess Anxi’s mansion was quiet. Only the study still had a faint light burning. Princess Anxi’s pretty, spirited face showed traces of fatigue as she frowned at the person before her, “Still no news from Qingchen?” The man shook his head, saying gravely, “None.”

Princess Anxi said anxiously, “What’s going on? Could it be that she still doesn’t believe we truly think Qingchen is missing?”

The man nodded, “Very likely. Although we’ve sent people to search everywhere for Young Master Qingchen, she might still think we’re putting on an act with Young Master Qingchen for her benefit.”

“I hope Qingchen will be alright,” Princess Anxi closed her eyes wearily, rubbing her aching forehead, “We’ve put in so much effort, finally making some progress. If it all falls apart now… I fear… with Father…” The man frowned, “The King still doesn’t trust the Princess?” Princess Anxi smiled bitterly, “Father is barely forty, still in his prime. Even if he believed us, he wouldn’t support us. He needs another force to keep me, his Crown Princess, in check.” If Father hadn’t been secretly favoring the other side, how could they have failed time and again these past six months? Every time they were about to catch that person’s tail, she would slip away. “Now she even has the military tally. If we can’t get it back, nothing we do will matter.”

Princess Anxi truly didn’t understand why her usually wise father insisted on favoring that woman. But she couldn’t stand by and watch as that woman plotted against Nanzhao. This was her responsibility as both a Nanzhao princess and the Crown Princess.

“Can we find out where Young Master Qingchen is now?” Princess Anxi asked, “If not, let’s ask Qingchen to withdraw. This is Nanzhao’s internal affair; we shouldn’t involve him.”

The man shook his head, “I’m afraid that’s impossible. Although we still occasionally receive messages from Young Master Qingchen, it’s always his people contacting us. We have no way to confirm Young Master Qingchen’s actual location.”

“Damn it!” Princess Anxi cursed under her breath.

“Assassins!” A shout rang out from the courtyard. Princess Anxi jumped to her feet, while the man beside her immediately drew his sword and moved to the door. He quickly returned, frowning, “They’re heading for the guest quarters.” Princess Anxi said, “Only Miss Chu is in the guest quarters. What do assassins want with her? Quickly, let’s go see.” With that, she rushed out the door toward the guest quarters. The man hastily closed the door and followed.

After the study returned to silence, a window in the corner moved slightly before being pushed open. A black figure swiftly climbed in. Beneath the black face covering, a pair of beautiful eyes showed. The black-clad figure quickly went to the desk and began examining the documents there. Finding nothing useful after one look, they moved to search the bookshelf behind them. Princess Anxi’s study didn’t contain many books, mostly various official documents written in the Southern Frontier script. After some effort, a document hidden in the most inconspicuous corner of the bookshelf caught the intruder’s eye. What drew their attention wasn’t the document itself, but the sunflower-shaped seal impression securing it. Eyes flashing, the black-clad figure produced a thin blade and quickly opened the sealed document. After scanning the contents rapidly, those beautiful eyes revealed a faint smile. After resealing the document and returning everything to its original state, they slipped out through the window.

At the guest quarters, when Princess Anxi arrived with her guards, Dark Two immediately blocked them at the entrance. Dark Two looked at the group with a stern face, “Princess, what brings you here so late?” Princess Anxi said, “Assassins just broke into the guest quarters. Is Miss Chu alright?”

“Assassins?” Dark Two frowned, “I’ve been keeping watch outside all night, and no assassins have entered.”

Princess Anxi was startled. Her guards would never lie, and besides, she had seen several dark figures enter the guest quarters from afar. Why would Miss Chu’s guard flatly deny it? “Guard Lin, Miss Chu is Young Master Qingchen’s fiancée. If anything happened to her, I couldn’t face Young Master Qingchen. Are you certain no one broke in?”

Dark Two’s expression darkened as he said solemnly, “When the commotion started outside, several dark figures did approach, but my hidden weapons drove them away. Some were likely injured. But they did not enter the guest quarters. Miss Chu’s reputation is paramount, please mind your words, Princess.”

Seeing Dark Two’s grave, serious expression, Princess Anxi finally understood why this guard insisted no one had entered. Central Plainswomen were indeed far stricter about matters of reputation than those from the Southern Frontier.

“My apologies, Guard Lin. I spoke carelessly.” She waved for her guards to withdraw and continue searching for the assassins before turning back to Dark Two, “Wouldn’t the commotion have frightened Miss Chu? Why haven’t we seen her?” Dark Two replied flatly, “Miss stays in the inner quarters, perhaps she didn’t hear the disturbance outside.” Princess Anxi frowned slightly, “Since Guard Lin finds it inappropriate, perhaps I should check on Miss Chu myself. It would be troubling if she was frightened…”

“No…”

“Princess Sister, has something happened?” Before Dark Two could refuse, Ye Li’s voice came from behind. She wore a large cloak over her shoulders, her hair loose, with traces of sleepiness and confusion in her eyes. Beside her was indeed the maid Princess Anxi had assigned to serve her, holding a lamp. Princess Anxi smiled, “Nothing much, just some petty thieves breaking in. Did they wake you, Miss Chu?” Ye Li tilted her head, her smile gentle and pretty, “I’m not afraid. Lin Han’s martial arts are very powerful. He’s protected me all the way here. Right, Lin Han?” Dark Two bowed respectfully, “Indeed, Miss, please don’t worry. The assassins didn’t get in; I drove them away.”

Princess Anxi looked at Ye Li and, seeing nothing amiss, nodded, “In that case, Miss Chu should rest well. I’ll have people check elsewhere in case any escaped.”

“Yes, thank you for your trouble, Princess Sister,” Ye Li smiled obediently. Watching Princess Anxi leave, the smile gradually fell from Ye Li’s face. She turned to the maid beside her, “Let’s go back too.” The maid nodded in agreement and followed Ye Li toward the inner quarters. Just after entering the room, she felt her body go numb and collapsed to the ground. Dark Two appeared silently at the doorway. Ye Li raised an eyebrow at him, asking, “What’s the story with the assassins?” Dark Two said gravely, “There were indeed assassins, likely targeting you.” He entered the room and pulled a black-clad figure from under the bed, “Three people came in total. They were too careless and were spotted by the princess’s guards. After my hidden weapons injured them, they fled immediately. This one was hurt the worst and I captured him.”

Ye Li crouched down to look at the person on the ground, who had typical Southern Frontier features. Though wrapped in black stealth clothing, they hadn’t concealed their characteristics. “Probably not Princess Anxi’s people. Chu Liuyun shouldn’t have any enemies in the Southern Frontier. Who would dare to come provoke us right in the princess’s mansion?” Dark Two frowned, “Could someone have discovered our true identities?”

Ye Li shook her head, “No. If our identities had truly been discovered, we’d be facing more than just a few low-level assassins. Tonight’s incident seems more like a show of force or… a challenge to Princess Anxi.”

“A show of force… challenging Princess Anxi? Because of Young Master Qingchen?” Dark Two speculated. Ye Li nodded, pondering, “That’s what I think too. In the Southern Frontier, Chu Liuyun’s identity is only connected to Big Brother. But what’s the use of such a challenge that doesn’t cause any real harm? Comparatively, capturing me to threaten Big Brother would be more effective. If Big Brother is indeed in their hands.”

“With these assassins’ abilities, they couldn’t take someone from the princess’s mansion even if I weren’t here.” They couldn’t even reach the guest quarters without alerting the princess’s guards – such assassins couldn’t even kill someone, let alone kidnap them alive. “Miss, can you guess who might be behind this?”

Ye Li smiled faintly, “I wasn’t sure before, but now I have a good idea. Tomorrow we’ll test your interrogation skills and verify my thoughts.”
