The originally orderly formation disintegrated almost instantly. Everyone scattered in all directions, yet the black bear only chased Little Glasses.
“It’s over, it’s over, it’s over…” Little Glasses muttered desperately as he stumbled around the room. “Mama… I’m really going to die this time…”
Within ten steps, the black bear had already cornered Little Glasses against the wall.
Little Glasses’s legs had completely stopped obeying him. He collapsed to the ground, unable to move an inch.
Leaning against the wall, he looked back to find an extremely terrifying black face filling his entire field of vision.
Ugly, ferocious, foul-smelling.
The black bear extended its nose and sniffed Little Glasses’s face.
Little Glasses’s complexion was deathly pale, his gaze vacant as he stared ahead. Even when the black bear brought its mouth close to his neck, he didn’t dare move.
“Mama…” Little Glasses murmured. “I can’t come back… Mama… don’t wait for me…”
The black bear opened its mouth, which reeked of decay. Just as it was about to bite down, Qiao Jiajin, who was lying on the ground, suddenly shouted loudly.
“Hey!! Time’s up!! Damn it!! Are you going to cheat?! Stop killing people!!”
Everyone turned to look—the electronic clock on the wall had indeed finished its countdown and stopped at “0.”
The next second, the iron door in the distance suddenly opened. The black bear’s entire body froze.
Immediately after, a powerful suction force burst forth from within the iron door. The black bear became like a piece of paper swaying in the wind. It let out a pained howl, then was grabbed at extreme speed by something invisible and dragged into the door.
The game was over.
Everyone had survived.
“It’s, it’s over…” After several minutes, a girl said tremblingly. “The black bear is gone…”
The girls slowly stood up, embraced each other, and wept tears of joy.
Little Glasses seemed to have been frightened stupid. He could only sit on the ground gasping for breath.
“Damn…” Qiao Jiajin moved his aching body, covering his abdomen with an exhausted expression. “That really wasn’t easy. You liar, good thing we had your ‘Eagle Catches Chickens’ strategy.”
After standing up, Qi Xia didn’t speak. Instead, his expression looked somewhat worried.
“What’s wrong?” Qiao Jiajin asked.
“Do you think…” Qi Xia began to ask, “did those two survive?”
“They…”
Qiao Jiajin naturally knew Qi Xia was talking about Tiantian and Lin Qin, but he didn’t dare guess wildly.
No one knew what had actually happened in the other room.
Were they in the same situation as here, being hunted by a black bear?
Could their teammates unite and come up with the “Eagle Catches Chickens” strategy?
Everyone turned around to find that the staircase they’d come from had appeared behind them.
“Stop thinking about it. Let’s just go see for ourselves.” Qiao Jiajin patted Qi Xia’s shoulder. “Let’s go.”
Old Lu helped Little Glasses up, and the group supported each other as they slowly climbed the stairs and arrived at the room where the chairs had been placed earlier.
Earth-Ox stood quietly here, waiting for everyone’s “triumphant return.”
“Nine survived?” Earth-Ox paused slightly. “Not bad.”
“Son of a bitch…” Qiao Jiajin cursed quietly. “One day I’m going to beat these people up.”
“Please wait a moment. The people from the other room haven’t returned yet.” Earth-Ox waved at them, indicating they should sit down.
Everyone was no longer polite and sat down in the chairs one after another. For them, having just escaped death, nothing here could be more terrifying than that black bear.
After waiting about two minutes, Qiao Jiajin couldn’t sit still anymore.
“Hey, old ox. Hasn’t their game ended yet?”
“Both sides started at the same moment. They should both be finished now, but they haven’t returned here yet.”
“What…” Qi Xia frowned, feeling like his headache was about to return. He hurriedly covered his forehead and asked the ox-headed man, “If the game ended but no one came back, doesn’t that mean they all died…?”
“I don’t know.” The ox-headed man shook his head. “Please sit for a while, everyone. Don’t be anxious.”
It was easy to say “don’t be anxious,” but who could really not be anxious?
This team had been randomly shuffled, which meant that among the participants present, almost everyone had teammates assigned to the other group.
Qi Xia turned his head and saw Little Glasses sitting not far in front of him, speaking quietly with the middle-aged man beside him.
“What?! How can that work?!” the middle-aged man exclaimed.
Little Glasses hurriedly waved at him and explained in a low voice for a few sentences.
“No, no, I don’t agree!” The middle-aged man shook his head like a rattle drum. “Absolutely not, no matter what.”
After speaking, he turned his head and happened to meet Qi Xia’s gaze, but he immediately looked away, as if he hadn’t seen anything. Then he continued in a quiet voice, “If that’s really the case, I’ll have to let Zhang Shan decide for me!”
“Heh.” Qi Xia laughed coldly, roughly guessing the content of their conversation.
After waiting a full five or six minutes, everyone finally heard heavy footsteps gradually emerging from the door on the side.
“They’re coming…”
Following these footsteps, a large number of additional footsteps rang out.
It sounded like this team also had quite a few survivors.
A burly man slowly emerged from the dark doorway. His face was stern as he quickly surveyed everyone, then a slight smile gradually appeared on his face. “Damn… you’re all alive?”
“Zhang Shan! Zhang Shan!” Little Glasses ran forward excitedly. “Great! You’re okay… Holy shit!!!”
Little Glasses cried out and hurriedly retreated a step.
The scene before him was truly too horrifying.
Just moments ago, this burly man called Zhang Shan had been standing in darkness, his full appearance not yet visible.
But as he continued walking into the light, his terrifying wounds were also revealed.
His entire body was covered in blood. On his chest were three deep claw marks. His right arm was tucked under two black objects, like two thick logs.
Tiantian and Lin Qin also gradually emerged from the doorway.
“Pretty girls!” Qiao Jiajin looked the two of them up and down. “Are you okay?”
“We’re fine…” Tiantian smiled bitterly. “How about you all?”
“Same as always.” Qiao Jiajin shook his head helplessly. “Thanks to the liar’s plan, we still managed to survive.”
“Huh?” Tiantian looked at Qi Xia incredulously. “You could rely on Qi Xia in this game too?”
Lin Qin also found it somewhat unbelievable. “Qiao Jiajin, didn’t you say you’d handle the ‘Ox’ games yourself?”
“Damn, don’t mention it…” Qiao Jiajin cursed. “If the opponent had been a person, that would’ve been fine, but it was a black bear! Who in this world can defeat a black bear?”
Tiantian and Lin Qin looked at each other, then spoke with some difficulty, “Maybe… there really is someone who can kill a bear…”
Hearing them say this, Qi Xia and Qiao Jiajin looked toward the strong man called Zhang Shan.
Could he have… killed the bear?
They saw teammates continuously emerging behind him. The two counted—exactly ten people.
Clearly, no one in their team had died.
Zhang Shan tossed the two objects he’d been carrying under his arm onto the ground, then sat down in a chair with an exhausted expression. “Damn… Old Ox, you really don’t hold back, do you? You even prepared something like a ‘bear’?”
Everyone looked down and discovered that what he’d thrown on the ground weren’t tree branches at all, but two bloody black bear forearms.
