Chapter 521: Wei Yang

Qi Xia acted as if he had turned the page on this matter. He walked forward on his own, refusing to answer any questions raised by Chen Junnan and Qiao Jiajin with a closed mouth.

He seemed to have opened up his inner heart in an instant, but quickly sealed himself off again, leaving only that cold exterior.

The three of them continued eastward in silence like this. After walking for about an hour, the tall buildings around them had disappeared, replaced by rows of low-rise bungalows. What was surprising was that there were quite a few native residents here as well. They mechanically repeated their actions in a daze, like machines.

After about an hour and a half, they could no longer see any “Zodiacs” around them. Only occasionally appearing native residents remained in the surroundings. After another half hour, even the native residents became rare.

Apart from the dilapidated road beneath their feet, the area around them had become a wasteland. However, this wasteland was somewhat different from those in the real world—there were no overgrown weeds around, only bare soil surfaces.

“Don’t you think there are very few plants here?” Qi Xia asked.

The other two looked around indifferently, feeling that Qi Xia’s focus was rather unique.

Even the people here weren’t normal—did it still need to be covered with lush vegetation?

“There’s nothing strange about it,” Chen Junnan said. “Would any plants survive here? The sun in the sky is so strange, and the air reeks terribly. It’s not suitable for plant survival.”

Qi Xia nodded, then said nothing more. The group continued forward for another ten minutes or so. Just when they were feeling somewhat tired, they saw a house appear on the distant wasteland.

It was a low house built entirely of wood. Its exterior looked dilapidated, with many wooden boards showing wrinkle-like cracks. Under the sunset glow of the “Land of End,” it appeared hideously menacing.

The group walked a few hundred meters further and looked behind the low house. Someone had used scrap iron and waste wood stuck into the ground to crudely construct a fence. Inside the fence was a terrifying sight.

A large number of “scarecrows” stood there.

They were called “scarecrows,” but upon closer inspection, something seemed off. Each scarecrow was moving slightly, and even their eyes were swaying left and right.

What kind of “scarecrows” were these?

What came into view next were the “crops” in the field.

The land was filled with severed limbs stuck into the ground. They looked neat and orderly, carefully tended to by someone.

Not only had the farm meticulously cultivated the land, but the soil had also been turned over. The ground near each severed limb was somewhat moist, and had even been watered.

Some of these severed limbs had already dried and blackened, revealing wrinkles like withered trees. Others looked very fresh—not only were they ruddy in color, but they were even covered in blood.

A breeze blew by, and the mind-breaking stench from the farm flooded into the three people’s nostrils.

“I… damn…” Qiao Jiajin’s lips trembled slightly. “Liar boy… Junnan boy… have we arrived in hell?”

“This place has always been hell, hasn’t it?” Qi Xia said with a cold expression. “No matter what anyone does… it all seems normal.”

Seeing this scene, Chen Junnan swallowed slightly and said, “I’ve got a bad feeling… This person seems to have gone completely mad… He’s far crazier than he was seven years ago. Are we really going to have a peaceful chat with him?”

“Just looking at this scene, he’s indeed quite mad,” Qi Xia said. “Compared to him, Chu Tianqiu is far too gentle.”

“These two are six of one, half a dozen of the other…” Chen Junnan said with a furrowed brow.

He recalled that when he woke up this time, he had suddenly appeared in Chu Tianqiu’s basement. That place was filled with blood-stained animal masks and several “Zodiac” heads. These bizarre things emitted a nauseating smell in the dark and damp basement. That scene was no less disturbing than this farm.

“Should we knock on the door now…?” Qiao Jiajin asked tentatively.

“Uh…” Chen Junnan scratched his head, feeling that this was indeed a bit tricky. To meet such a madman, was it still necessary to knock?

The three were standing blankly at the door when they saw the wooden house’s door shake, and a thin figure walked out from inside. He was still holding a rusty metal watering can in his hand.

“Is that him?” Qi Xia asked.

“Yes…” Chen Junnan nodded, looking at the thin middle-aged man. “He hasn’t changed at all.”

Wei Yang in the distance had obviously also noticed the three people standing on the street. His expression froze for a moment, then he held the watering can and stood at attention, silently confronting the three for more than ten seconds.

Then he silently opened his mouth and uttered two hoarse words: “Admirable.”

Only then did Qi Xia notice that this man named Wei Yang had fairly regular features. In his youth, he should have been quite handsome. However, the years had left traces of aging on his face, and the “Land of End” had bestowed upon him a deranged look in his eyes.

Now he stood more than ten steps away from the three, emanating a strange aura. Even Qi Xia dared not approach to speak with him.

Seeing that the three had no reaction, Wei Yang slowly bent down, placed the watering can behind him, pressed his other hand on his lower abdomen, and very gentlemanly bowed to the three. Then he turned around and walked toward his “field.”

Seeing his strange behavior, Qi Xia was also somewhat puzzled. He said in a low voice, “He recognized us.”

“Most likely,” Chen Junnan nodded. “He was always a smiling villain with a knife hidden behind his back.”

Wei Yang turned his back, took the watering can and walked into the field. First, he bent down to look at those severed limbs, then reached out to wipe away some dust from them, then picked up the watering can and poured it down.

The three kept their eyes fixed on Wei Yang’s every move. Only then did they realize that what was being sprinkled from his watering can wasn’t water either, but thick, blackened blood.

The blood flowed from the watering can in viscous streams, pouring onto the severed limbs, making the already horrifying scene appear even more bizarre.

“Hmm hmm hmm~~” Wei Yang hummed an old song. Everyone felt the melody was somewhat familiar, but couldn’t remember where they had heard it. He acted as if he were really doing farm work, watering each severed limb while singing a little tune.

“It’s getting dark soon. We can’t wait any longer,” Qi Xia said, forcibly suppressing his nausea. “I’ll go meet with him.”

Just as he was about to take a step forward, Wei Yang in the distance spoke to himself, “I’m not going…”

“What…?”

“Something like resisting ‘Heavenly-Dragon’ and destroying the entire ‘Land of End’… I’m not going.”

After finishing watering, Wei Yang reached out to check the condition of the “crops,” then turned around with a smile on his face and said, “Whoever wants to die can go die themselves… don’t drag me into it.”

As soon as he finished speaking, he reached out to wipe his cheek, and a patch of dark red blood instantly stained his face.
