Intelligent people choose to continue living in a better way, rather than dwelling in irrecoverable sorrow and pain that would burden those around them. Jiang Taohua was an intelligent person. Although she found it difficult to accept the fact that Chang Jie had died, after descending the mountain in silence, she regained her smile upon seeing Shen Zaiye. She approached him, linking arms, and said, “Let’s go back for the wedding feast.”
Shen Zaiye glanced at Mu Wuxia, and seeing his usual demeanor, felt relieved. He embraced Taohua and mounted his horse.
Mu Wuxia was sitting in the carriage. Lifting the curtain, he saw the couple walking ahead, engaged in cheerful conversation.
Shen Zaiye asked, “What did you say to His Majesty?”
Taohua replied, “This concubine said that Zhao country has many beauties, and that princess will surely not disappoint. His Majesty found my words reasonable and felt reassured.”
Shen Zaiye nodded, genuinely believing her.
Mu Wuxia chuckled, observing how these two incredibly clever individuals turned into fools in each other’s presence. He couldn’t help but marvel at the peculiarities of love.
The emotions of this world are truly unpredictable. No one would expect a relationship built on calculations to flourish, nor would they believe that two people with opposing stances could ultimately come together. Yet, strangely enough, it happened.
The Emperor’s grand wedding was naturally a magnificent affair. However, Taohua and Shen Zaiye didn’t formally attend in ceremonial attire. Instead, they stood on a distant palace rooftop, watching the procession of red make its way from the palace gates as bells echoed throughout the imperial grounds.
“What will happen in the future?” Taohua asked Shen Zaiye. “Will His Majesty be happy?”
“No one can predict,” Shen Zaiye replied. “We can only focus on living our own lives well.”
Taohua nodded. They quietly watched the grand wedding ceremony to its conclusion before departing together in their carriage.
On this beautiful spring day, the vast rivers and mountains had ultimately fallen into Mu Wuxia’s hands. However, Taohua felt she hadn’t necessarily lost, as she held Shen Zaiye’s heart completely. She considered that she had reached the third realm of the art of seduction her master had spoken of—
For this lifetime, Shen Zaiye would have to listen to her every word.
(End of Main Story)

Oh my god, after 200 chapters of the FL struggles in the ML’s house, we got 1 chapter with the Wu war, 10-15 chapters with the Zhao war and then 10 more chapters of nonsense. In the Zhao arc plenty of people that we never heard about were introduced, just to be axed. Some plotholes as well.
Started out promising, with an intelligent and strong FL, that meanwhile became the obedient lamb, returning, forgiving and finding excuses for the ML, who had 0 (ZERO) character development throughout the book. For crying out loud, even a kid learns from his mistakes, but not our grown ass, scheming ML!
I couldn’t also understand how the ML had more leverage than the old emperor (that ruled for 20 years) or the new one. And the Zhao war didn’t make sense either. Why attack if you know there’s your pregnant wife there? Then the excuse was “I did it for her sake” – whaaaaat? Not to mention he went in the Zhao palace to hold her in her arms, while the armies were fighting at the city gates and people dying. Make it make sense, please!
