Chapter 1222: You May Look, But You Cannot Touch

Everyone’s work concluded with Yu Jingfeng scattering rose petals into the bathwater.

Yu Jingfeng came to stand before Di Wu Ya and Feng Jiu’er and asked softly, “Your Highness, shall something to eat be prepared tonight?”

“Prepare more for the little girl.” Di Wu Ya waved his hand.

“Yes.” Seeing that he was impatient, Yu Jingfeng immediately dipped his head, turned, and left.

Both doors were shut by the last person to leave. Feng Jiu’er turned to look behind her at the man who had already begun removing his own outer garment.

Watching him carefully hang up the robe she had designed, she shook her head and walked over to him.

“How is it that I remember this robe was in my wardrobe? Why did it end up on you?”

As she spoke, Feng Jiu’er stood before Di Wu Ya and began untying the inner robe’s cord for him.

“Mm.” Di Wu Ya looked down at the woman before him and nodded. “I forgot to take it with me today, so I went and collected it.”

“Did I say I was giving it to you?” Feng Jiu’er looked up for a moment and raised a brow lightly.

A proper prince — now restored to the rank of Crown Prince — who had personally made a trip himself, and it had been for a single robe. Such a Crown Prince was probably rare among all who had come before, was he not?

Every circumstance has its first time. Perhaps he truly would become the one and only ruler with only a single person in the imperial harem.

For now, it was too soon to say anything. Never mind. What lay ahead could be dealt with when it came.

“If you won’t make it for this Prince, who else would you make it for?” Di Wu Ya spread his arms wide, making it easier for Feng Jiu’er to work.

When she was helping him remove the last layer closest to his body, he suddenly closed his hand around her slender arm.

Feng Jiu’er looked up and met the man’s gaze, her brow furrowing slightly. “What is it?”

“Come here.” Di Wu Ya took Feng Jiu’er by the hand and walked with her toward the large bed.

Watching the bed draw closer, Feng Jiu’er swallowed, her face growing involuntarily warm.

“Ninth Imperial Uncle, today is not yet our wedding day. Did you not say before…” that this was not allowed?

The words that followed, Feng Jiu’er could not bring herself to say aloud. After all, he had not said he intended to do anything.

Di Wu Ya ruffled Feng Jiu’er’s hair, let go of her, and removed the remaining garment from his own body.

“Ninth Imperial Uncle.” Feng Jiu’er turned her head to the side, suddenly not daring to look.

When she helped him undress and when he undressed himself — it felt entirely different.

Di Wu Ya looked at the little girl with her lightly flushed face, reached out his palm to take her hand, and had her sit down.

He turned to the side, his back to her.

“Turn around and look.” The man’s voice carried a hint of command.

“I will not look!” Feng Jiu’er shook her head.

With his back still turned so Feng Jiu’er could not see, Di Wu Ya gave a faint smile and continued his command: “This Prince orders you to turn around now.”

“Otherwise, I cannot guarantee what will happen tonight!”

Feng Jiu’er pouted and drew a deep breath. She had not imagined that even now, she was still the one being ordered about.

“Fine, I’ll look. It’s not like I’ll lose anything by looking…”

But the moment her gaze fell upon the man’s lower back, Feng Jiu’er’s eyes went wide and every word died on her lips.

She stayed frozen for a good while before reaching out with a long finger and pressing against the mark on Di Wu Ya’s lower back.

“Ninth Imperial Uncle, when did you get this marking here?”

Feng Jiu’er felt along Di Wu Ya’s lower back several times, and in order to see the mark on his body more clearly, she even lay flat on her stomach on the bed.

“It looks like a dragon — a dragon pattern. Could it be…”

A thought struck her as vitally important. Feng Jiu’er sat up on her knees, wrapped her arms around the man, and tried to turn his head toward her.

Di Wu Ya turned to look at the girl kneeling behind him.

“Could it be that the dragon-soaring pattern on your body is the missing half of the treasure map?”

“Ninth Imperial Uncle, when did you discover that you also had this totem on your body? Why did you not tell me sooner?”

Without waiting for any response from Di Wu Ya, Feng Jiu’er gave him a push, turning him to face away from her again.

And she once again lay down flat, both hands resting on Di Wu Ya’s waist.

The unusual touch made Di Wu Ya’s breath run considerably hotter.

He reached back and closed his hand around her small hands, pulling her up to a sitting position.

If this truly were the missing half of the treasure map, the two of them very likely could find the treasure. Where would Feng Jiu’er have the presence of mind to notice Di Wu Ya’s face had flushed with color?

“Ninth Imperial Uncle, I want to keep looking. I need to see clearly whether it really is.”

Feng Jiu’er did not even glance at Di Wu Ya as she pushed against his arm, trying to get back behind him.

Di Wu Ya held her arm and pulled her, confining her in his embrace.

He looked down at her, his voice turned husky. “A man’s waist is not something to be touched carelessly!”

Only then did Feng Jiu’er realize — Ninth Imperial Uncle’s breathing had become quite warm.

She looked up for a moment, then immediately retreated backward.

Had Di Wu Ya not scooped her back, the retreating girl would likely have tumbled right off the bed.

Meeting the man’s gaze, Feng Jiu’er blinked, pressed her lips together, and said, “I did not know that your waist could not be… touched carelessly.”

“Ninth Imperial Uncle, let go of me first. Let us have a proper… talk.”

In what could not have been even a full minute, Ninth Imperial Uncle’s face — did it really need to be that red? And his body too had grown very warm.

If she had not already guessed at what was happening, Feng Jiu’er would have thought he had come down with a fever.

Remaining at this closeness was no comfort to Di Wu Ya either. He curved his lips ever so slightly and released her.

Feng Jiu’er, freed at last, scrambled at once to the corner of the bed.

Di Wu Ya gave her one more look, turned to the side, and put his back to her again.

“You may look, but you cannot touch.” To let her see more clearly, he bent his back ever so slightly.

Feng Jiu’er looked at his broad, solid back with its remarkably fine skin, bit her lip, and slowly drew closer.

If she could not touch, then she would not touch. Looking… would be enough.

“Do you remember when we were at the Black Abyss and we broke through the formation together?” Di Wu Ya’s voice drifted over.

“Mm.” Feng Jiu’er nodded and stopped moving closer.

Waiting until the distance between them was just about right, she carefully lay down on her stomach behind him.

“That night, I discovered the totem on my lower back.” Di Wu Ya’s voice came again.

Feng Jiu’er nodded and lay on the bed, studying it with great concentration for a while.

When she sat back up, her eyes shimmered with a silver gleam — as though she were looking upon an enormous treasure.

“Ninth Imperial Uncle.” Excitement was excitement, but she still did not dare draw too near to him.

“Is it possible that the mark on your body and the one on mine, put together, form the complete treasure map?”

“The patterns of the two maps look very similar. Perhaps it is just as I suspect.”

“There is no need to speculate. You need only trace the dragon-soaring pattern, and you will know.” Di Wu Ya responded softly.

“Mm.” Feng Jiu’er nodded vigorously. “That is exactly what I intend. I will go and make preparations right now.”

When Di Wu Ya turned around, all he saw was the girl behind him striding away with light, quick steps, disappearing from his sight.

After spending the better part of an hour, Feng Jiu’er finally finished tracing the mark on Di Wu Ya’s body.

Watching the little girl leave as though carrying some precious treasure, Di Wu Ya felt a pang of loss.

He gave a light cough and said evenly, “Little girl, I am cold.”
