Zeng Lanyue’s legs gave out, and her whole body collapsed limply.
The senior students standing around her completely failed to react in time, watching helplessly as she fell toward the ground.
Just as Zeng Lanyue’s body was about to hit the ground, a slender figure darted forward and caught her in her arms.
Feng Jiu’er! After catching Zeng Lanyue, she immediately laid her on the ground and pressed firmly on her neck!
“Her main artery hasn’t been completely severed — it’s only nicked by the blade’s edge. She can still be saved!”
Feng Jiu’er looked up, gazing at Xiao Yingtao standing far off by their room’s door. “Quick! Bring the small medicine box from beside my bed!”
At her shout, Xiao Yingtao immediately snapped to attention and hurried back to the room to fetch the medicine box.
But everyone there, except Feng Jiu’er herself, didn’t believe at all that Zeng Lanyue could survive.
A wound to the blood vessels of the neck — since ancient times, no one had ever survived such a thing. How could this girl speak such wild words?
After a moment of shock, the sword-wielding senior student had already calmed down, no longer expecting Zeng Lanyue to live.
She walked up to Zeng Lanyue and tore open her clothes.
“No…” Zeng Lanyue’s voice was so faint it seemed it might vanish at any moment. Realizing her clothes had been pulled open, she struggled wildly.
Feng Jiu’er pressed down hard on her neck, her long fingers striking an acupoint at the hollow of her shoulder.
Zeng Lanyue instantly went limp, losing even the strength to raise her hand.
She looked at Feng Jiu’er, unable even to glare, yet the resentment in her eyes was so thick, so thick…
Saving someone who hated her — Feng Jiu’er had no choice in the matter, but a healer’s heart was like a parent’s; she couldn’t refuse to save her.
The senior student, impartial and unyielding, had already pulled Zeng Lanyue’s clothes open — since everyone in the courtyard was a girl, it didn’t matter.
There was no wound on her chest, nor on her arms, only… at that moment, everyone standing nearby saw it clearly!
Zeng Lanyue wasn’t the assassin — at least, not the assassin they were searching for — but her body was covered entirely in mottled red marks!
“What… what is that?” an innocent young girl couldn’t help asking.
Another girl’s face flushed, and she said quietly, “I’m afraid… I’m afraid it’s… it’s marks left by some lecherous man.”
Something so plainly obvious — even if no one there had experienced it themselves, they’d all heard about such things privately, to some degree.
Everyone whispered among themselves, and the senior student, also blushing, quickly pulled Zeng Lanyue’s clothes closed again.
Zeng Lanyue, unable to catch her breath, rolled her eyes back in distress and fainted dead away.
Xiao Yingtao brought the medicine box and set it down beside Feng Jiu’er.
After discussing it among themselves, the senior students decided to send someone to notify a doctor from the medical hall.
After all, she hadn’t yet stopped breathing, and no one felt at ease entrusting a life to Feng Jiu’er.
Especially now that they knew Zeng Lanyue wasn’t the assassin — since she wasn’t, they had to find some way to keep her alive.
“Jiu’er, do you need my help?” No one had much hope in Feng Jiu’er, except Xiao Yingtao, who crouched beside her, wanting to do something.
“Help me press down on her wound — I’m going to operate on her!”
No sooner had Feng Jiu’er finished speaking than two doctors arrived. The older of the two, after crouching down beside Zeng Lanyue, actually tried to remove the piece of cloth Feng Jiu’er had torn off and pressed against Zeng Lanyue’s neck!
