Chapter 1523: Feng Clan Arc: He Never Jokes

“Good, three days, just three days, I will definitely bring the poison back to you.” Cai Liantang, still kneeling, kowtowed to Feng Jiu’er.

“Heroine, if I manage to save my life this time, please allow me to follow you from now on.”

“To think there exists in this world a woman whose swordsmanship is this fast — it’s truly beyond what I expected.”

“That young master’s swordsmanship is also exceptional. If I could learn even a fraction of it, this life would not have been wasted.”

“Brother Cai, is it?” Feng Jiu’er looked at Cai Liantang, brows furrowing slightly.

“Now doesn’t seem like the time for such talk. Since you know where the poison is, go prepare at once.”

“Just so you know, it isn’t only my swordsmanship that’s good — my medical skill isn’t bad either. If you don’t want to die, don’t even think about trying to cure the poison yourself.”

“I won’t.” Cai Liantang braced himself against the table and stood up.

“In three days, where shall I find you?”

Feng Jiu’er glanced around the room and raised an eyebrow. “Right here, then — the surroundings aren’t bad!”

“Great Hero, don’t listen to them, don’t let them leave — the moment they go, you’ll be ambushed.” Jiang Hongsheng shouted.

He couldn’t understand how things had turned out this way — if Cai Liantang and Qin Anzhuo got away safely, could he himself escape?

“Worry about yourself first.” Feng Jiu’er’s lips curved slightly as she stood up.

“Let’s go, time to eat. I’m hungry.” Tossing out that one line, she turned and walked off without looking back.

Jian Yi sheathed his sword and followed after her.

Zhang Zhicheng, though confused, still sheathed his sword and left after glancing back once.

Jiang Hongsheng watched the two of them leave, immediately stood up, and chased after them.

“Great Hero, take me with you, I can be of help, Great Hero, take me with you.”

“Brother Zhang, I’m your Brother Hong — Lingling is still waiting for us to come home, please don’t abandon me.”

Before Zhang Zhicheng could leave the room, a figure appeared in front of him.

Tall and sturdy, Qin Anzhuo stood before him, glaring fiercely.

“Jiang Hongsheng, you coward — how dare you sell us out? I see you’re tired of living!”

The moment the words fell, Qin Anzhuo swung the stool he’d grabbed and struck it hard against Jiang Hongsheng.

“Doctor Long, do you think Cai Liantang’s words can be trusted?” Zhang Zhicheng asked as they left.

“You don’t trust my medicine?” Feng Jiu’er mounted her horse, turning her head to glance at him.

“Of course not.” Zhang Zhicheng also leapt up onto his horse.

Today, Feng Jiu’er had given him far too many surprises — he no longer doubted this woman’s abilities.

“Doctor Long, thank you! Come, let me treat you to a meal.”

“All right.” Feng Jiu’er curved her lips slightly and rode off on her horse.

They did not return to the stronghold, but instead sent word back, summoning quite a number of people.

But Feng Jiu’er did not forget the medicine she needed to bring back for the old patriarch.

The next day, Cai Liantang and Qin Anzhuo gathered their men and set off toward Black Pool.

Feng Jiu’er had long since made preparations, and once they departed, she and her companions followed after them.

With her, besides Jian Yi, were also Feng Jiang and Qiao Mu.

The battle in the forest raged for a full day and night without stopping.

Feng Jiu’er and the others did not intervene, only setting up camp on the outskirts to wait for news.

After all, this mess was one these men had brought upon themselves — no need to waste her own strength on it.

As night fell, the grassland by the mountainside grew very quiet.

It was deep autumn now, with a slight chill, yet the sound of insects could still be heard from time to time.

After Feng Jiu’er, Jian Yi, Feng Jiang, and Qiao Mu finished discussing matters and had just parted for a short while, Feng Jiang came once more to the tent shared by Feng Jiu’er and Qiao Mu.

“Jiu’er, I’m coming in.” Feng Jiang’s voice carried in from outside.

“Come in, then.” Feng Jiu’er, sitting on the ground sorting through medicinal herbs, didn’t even turn her head.

Qiao Mu, who had already lain down, sat up somewhat awkwardly upon hearing Feng Jiang’s voice.

Feng Jiang lifted the curtain and walked in.

Once inside, his gaze merely swept over Feng Jiu’er before settling on Qiao Mu.

Feng Jiu’er, knowing full well her Third Imperial Brother wasn’t here for her, didn’t bother paying attention.

“Qiao Mu, would you mind coming out for a moment?” Feng Jiang looked at Qiao Mu, the corner of his mouth lifting.

“No.” Qiao Mu tossed out the word, crossed her arms behind her head, and lay back down.

“If you won’t come out, I could come in and sleep beside you instead.”

The moment he said this, Feng Jiang strode right in.

“Big Brother Qiao, why don’t you head back out? I’m still not of age — the two of you shouldn’t be doing things unsuitable for children in here.” Feng Jiu’er complained.

She had discovered that her Third Imperial Brother never liked to joke.

For instance, when he said he wanted to sleep with someone, he genuinely went and did it. Of course, aside from sleeping, whether anything else happened, Feng Jiu’er certainly had no idea.

Qiao Mu sat up somewhat impatiently and shot a glance at Feng Jiang, who had drawn near.

“What exactly do you want?”

“Keep me company and chat — I can’t sleep.” The Third Prince came before Qiao Mu, knelt on one knee, and took hold of her hand.

“Don’t!” Qiao Mu pulled her palm away. “I’m sleepy, I need to sleep.”

“Fine, I’ll sleep with you, then.” Feng Jiang turned and sat down beside Qiao Mu.

Qiao Mu glared at the man beside her, drawing a sharp breath. “Mr. Bao, don’t push me.”

“I’m not.” Feng Jiang shook his head with an innocent expression. “I really just want to chat with you, nothing more.”

Feng Jiu’er was amused by her Third Imperial Brother’s adorable words and couldn’t help but laugh.

Why did it feel like her Third Imperial Brother was digging a pit, waiting for Little Qiao to jump in?

Qiao Mu glanced at Feng Jiu’er, then grabbed Feng Jiang’s hand instead. “Let’s go.”

The moment she stood, she released his hand.

But Feng Jiang’s hand didn’t stay idle — he lifted it and draped it over Qiao Mu’s shoulder, pulling her into his embrace.

“Jiu’er, we’re going outside for a bit. Oh, and Jian Yi said he’ll be guarding you tonight, so he and Qiao Mu won’t be bothering you.”

Feng Jiang glanced at Feng Jiu’er, then, embracing Qiao Mu as gently as a spring breeze, strode toward the exit.

“What are you saying?” Qiao Mu turned to look at the laughing Feng Jiu’er, feeling the urge to tear Feng Jiang apart.

“Jiu’er, don’t listen to his nonsense, there’s really nothing between us, Jiu’er…”

Before Qiao Mu could finish speaking, she was forcibly carried out by Feng Jiang.

The curtain lifted, then fell again. Qiao Mu shoved Feng Jiang hard.

Feng Jiang stumbled back a couple steps from the push, but without the slightest hesitation, he reached out and grabbed Qiao Mu’s arm.

The two of them turned and drifted backward a few steps, heading toward the cliff top.

“What exactly are you trying to do?” Qiao Mu glanced down once, then could only wrap her arms around Feng Jiang’s waist.

“Talk.” Feng Jiang’s answer never changed.

And so, holding her hand, he led Qiao Mu up onto a platform.

On the platform lay a blanket, and in front of the blanket were tea, fruit, and sweets.

“Sit.” Feng Jiang led Qiao Mu to sit with him on the blanket, facing the grassland.

“I searched a long time for this place. Do you like it?”

Qiao Mu raised her eyes for a look, and even her anger instantly vanished.

She hadn’t realized — this place was so beautiful, truly beautiful! More beautiful than she had ever expected.

Qiao Mu looked at the little twinkling lights across the grassland, and excitedly raised both hands to cover her lips.
