Chapter 1595: Feng Clan Arc: No Appreciation for Tenderness

“I’ll write it, Jiu’er, please don’t harm me — haven’t I been good to you?” Lei Shenbao, gritting through the pain in his wrist, picked up the brush.

“I’ll tell you everything, including what else I know. Write it all down — you must develop the antidote.”

“I really don’t want to spend my whole life taking poison — that wouldn’t do at all!”

Selfish people all share one trait in common: they care nothing for others, but when it comes to themselves, nothing bad must ever happen to them.

Lei Shenbao was exactly this kind of person — his hundred thousand guards had been fed poison for who knows how many years, and he hadn’t given it a second thought.

But the moment the matter fell on his own head, he truly panicked.

Yu Jingfeng genuinely admired Feng Jiu’er — he himself had spent days threatening and coaxing with no success at all, yet the moment Miss Jiu’er arrived, this wolf had submitted at once.

No — Lei Shenbao was no longer a wolf now, just a pig on the verge of death.

Lei Shenbao wrote down everything he knew, then raised his eyes to look at Feng Jiu’er.

“Jiu’er, it’s all here.” He picked up the letter with a slightly trembling hand.

“Please, give me the first three medicines as soon as possible — I need to detoxify in time.”

“Lastly, there’s the poison the guards have been continuously taking — I’ve written down both its composition and how it’s made.”

“I’m relying on you — you absolutely must develop the antidote.”

“I don’t need the money — what I want is my life. Don’t worry, once I have the antidote, I’ll be fine, and I’ll leave.”

“As for Licheng, I don’t need it anymore — it’s all yours. Just don’t kill me!”

Lei Shenbao had weathered all manner of storms in his life — as long as the green hills remain, there’s no shortage of firewood. For now, surviving was what mattered.

In a few years, once he rose again, he would absolutely make this woman submit beneath him, and properly avenge himself for today’s humiliation.

“With that murderous look on your face, how am I supposed to trust you?” Feng Jiu’er glanced at Lei Shenbao.

“The Leiteng Inn — fine, then I’ll trouble Master Lei to make the trip with us.”

“It’s a long journey, and bumping along the mountain paths in a prison cart sounds rather unpleasant, doesn’t it?”

“My brothers have no idea how to handle a lady gently — Master Lei had best think carefully about exactly where we ought to go.”

Feng Jiu’er took the letter Yu Jingfeng handed her and gripped it in her hand.

“By the way, demon — do you actually have a way to break the formation? I want the truth!”

“No.” Lei Shenbao caved.

He shook his head helplessly. “If I understood such things, I wouldn’t have needed to seek out Chen Hong, would I?”

“But Jiu’er, rest assured, if you take me to see Chen Hong, I…”

“Yu Jingfeng, let’s go.” Feng Jiu’er didn’t give Lei Shenbao the chance to finish his sentence.

“Right away.” Yu Jingfeng nodded and followed after her.

“Miss Jiu’er, should we get him something to eat?” Yu Jingfeng asked on their way out.

“No need. Didn’t you hear him? Without the antidote within a day, he’ll be dead anyway — feeding him would just be a waste!” Feng Jiu’er shook her head.

“What’s more, I’ve gained nearly sixty thousand extra people — where would we have spare food to waste?”

“True.” Yu Jingfeng nodded with a smile. “Miss Jiu’er, you’re not only beautiful, but even your voice is especially pleasant — truly delightful to listen to.”

Feng Jiu’er and Yu Jingfeng left just like that, without so much as a backward glance.

Lei Shenbao watched their retreating figures and slumped limply into the chair.

He had thought Chen Hong was already ruthless enough — he hadn’t expected that this pretty little girl would turn out to be even more vicious than Chen Hong.

“Get up!”

Before Lei Shenbao had time to space out, two soldiers went over and hauled him up.

“What are you doing? Jiu’er never said to chain me up — let go!” Lei Shenbao shouted.

He’d only just managed to sit down and rest, and he had no wish to be tied up again.

Bound on the iron frame, he could neither stand properly nor relax — now that he’d finally gotten a chance to catch his breath, he didn’t want to be tied up again!

But unfortunately, just as Feng Jiu’er had said, his brothers truly had no idea how to handle a lady gently, and once again bound Lei Shenbao tightly to the cross.

The brothers felt rather wronged — they did know how to be gentle with a lady, thank you very much!

It’s just that this was a pig, not a piece of jade! He stank to no end — where was the fragrance supposed to come from?

Feng Jiu’er took the letter Lei Shenbao had written and returned to her own chamber, with Yu Jingfeng following her in.

“Miss Jiu’er, what should we do now?” Yu Jingfeng asked.

“Go get some rest.” Feng Jiu’er waved a hand. “Tomorrow morning, go ask Xiao Yingtao for some antidote, and take it over to Lei Shenbao.”

“As Miss Jiu’er says — our own antidote, the one that cures a hundred poisons?” Yu Jingfeng blinked and asked.

“Mm.” Feng Jiu’er nodded. “Who has the time to develop a separate antidote for this pig? That would simply be a waste of time.”

Feng Jiu’er picked up paper and brush and spread out the letter she had crumpled in her hand.

If it weren’t for Yang Sheng and those guards, she wouldn’t have wanted to exchange another word with this pig.

Yu Jingfeng watched as Feng Jiu’er traced over what Lei Shenbao had written, and tried to keep his voice low.

“Miss Jiu’er, can our antidote really cure Lei Shenbao’s poison? He just swallowed several different kinds.”

“I’m not certain, which is why I’m having you take it over in the morning — if it doesn’t work, I still have a few hours left to think of something.”

“It’s fine. Just do as I’ve instructed. Don’t worry, I won’t let him die.” Feng Jiu’er didn’t look up.

“Understood, Miss Jiu’er, I’ll head over now then.” Yu Jingfeng clasped his hands.

“Mm.” Feng Jiu’er nodded once more.

Yu Jingfeng turned and left.

Once outside the chamber, he closed the door behind him.

“My lord Yu.” Two soldiers stood guard outside Feng Jiu’er’s chamber.

“Keep a close watch on Miss Jiu’er. The moment she steps outside, report to me immediately — understood?” Yu Jingfeng ordered in a low voice.

“Yes, my lord.” One soldier clasped his hands.

The other soldier also clasped his hands and said, “My lord, rest assured! We will stay close by Miss Jiu’er’s side at all times, without fail.”

“Mm.” Yu Jingfeng nodded and continued walking forward.

Inside the chamber, Feng Jiu’er spent almost the entire night studying the crooked, scrawled characters Lei Shenbao had written.

At the very least, she needed to be certain whether Lei Shenbao had lied before she could move forward with her research.

Feng Jiu’er not only analyzed the information Lei Shenbao had provided but also took out the poisons confiscated from him, examining them one by one.

At the time, Yu Jingfeng had collected quite a number of poisons from Lei Shenbao’s person, and Feng Jiu’er had set some of them aside, keeping them in storage.

What Lei Shenbao had swallowed today was only a portion, and of course she had taken note of each type.

As dawn was about to break, Feng Jiu’er was finally able to determine with one hundred percent certainty exactly what poison the guards had been taking.

From a small vial, she pinched out a black pill and set it on a square piece of paper.

It was this small, unremarkable thing that held the lives of sixty thousand people in the balance.

Feng Jiu’er stared at the black pill for a long while, then placed it into a small tube and put it away in a more refined medicine box.

She tidied up the things on the table, then went to the bed and lay down.
