Feng Jiu’er sat among the crowd, saying nothing, yet smiling without pause.
The game seemed to be going over well; the brothers and sisters were all having a great time.
Suddenly, she felt a familiar presence drift by not far away.
Feng Jiu’er didn’t turn around immediately, sitting there as if nothing had happened.
She could faintly make out a tall figure passing behind her, circling around to the other side.
Across from her, someone she didn’t recognize stood up, and another person sat down.
The game carried on, the crowd was large and lively, and hardly anyone noticed this subtle change.
But Feng Jiu’er had seen it.
After two more rounds, a new round began.
“Hey, it’s pointing at you.” The woman beside her nudged Feng Jiu’er gently with her elbow.
Feng Jiu’er’s lips curved slightly as she stood up.
Across from her, another woman also stood.
“Truth, or dare?” the woman asked.
They’d gone through several rounds now, and everyone had a rough grasp of the rules.
“Dare,” Feng Jiu’er said softly.
“That’s Jiu’er.”
“It really is Jiu’er.”
“Jiu’er came too?”
“That’s Miss Jiu’er’s voice.”
“Whoa! Jiu’er picked dare, but there shouldn’t be a prince here, should there?”
“This is fun!”
Under the flickering lights, no one had recognized Feng Jiu’er by sight, only by her voice.
“For whoever’s asking — is she supposed to kiss a man?”
“No way! Any man kissed by Miss Jiu’er — will he still see tomorrow’s sun?”
“Miss Jiu’er, why don’t you pick truth instead? If you tell us a secret you shouldn’t, we’ll keep it for you.”
“What are you talking about? Jiu’er’s this beautiful — you’d be at a loss if she kissed you?”
“It’s not about being at a loss, it’s about not being able to handle it!”
“Right, and I’d love for Miss Jiu’er to pick me, but what if the Prince finds out?”
“Miss Jiu’er, pick me. After tonight, I’ll never admit to it even if you beat me.”
“Aren’t you all a little too full of yourselves! Did Jiu’er say she’d kiss you?”
“Who’s brave enough to court death by messing with the Prince’s woman?”
“Hahaha… this is too much fun! Whoever asked, hurry up and say it — what do you want Jiu’er to do? She set the rules for this game, I doubt she’ll break them.”
“Xiao Yingtao, you’re so mean! Kicking someone while they’re down.”
The woman who’d asked pinched her throat and coughed hard.
“Miss Jiu’er.” She was straining to disguise her voice. “You won’t recognize me, will you?”
“Since it’s a game, none of us should take it seriously. Come on, follow along with everyone’s request and pick someone.”
“Ahem… remember, pick one of the brothers. You don’t have to kiss his lips — just hug him and leave a bite mark on his chin, that’s all, hahaha…”
“Yes! Great idea!”
The crowd grew excited again.
“Jiu’er, hurry! Don’t stall!”
“I still think this isn’t right, Miss Jiu’er, don’t come this way!”
“Hahaha… so afraid of death! Don’t bother coming out to play then.”
Feng Jiu’er knew a pair of eyes had been fixed on her the whole time, but she pretended not to notice, never once glancing that way.
The moment she raised her hand, everyone fell silent.
The women were thrilled, the men were nervous, and the atmosphere had swelled to an unprecedented height.
“Fine, I’ve chosen.” Feng Jiu’er tossed out those words and started walking.
She circled around the crowd too, but instead of heading toward the side with those deep, familiar eyes, she went the other way.
Everyone watched Feng Jiu’er until she stopped, and then someone started cheering happily again.
The man Feng Jiu’er had chosen stared wide-eyed, his body frozen stiff without the slightest movement.
Surely the heavens weren’t playing a joke on him like this? The Prince was right beside him — why hadn’t Miss Jiu’er walked just one step further?
The man hadn’t originally been standing next to Di Wu Ya — it was only because of Di Wu Ya’s arrival that the person beside him had changed.
No one else knew this, but at the very least, the two people standing nearby certainly did.
“Who is it? Such good luck!”
“Jiu’er’s about to kiss another man — will the Prince really not be angry?”
“The Prince has boundless composure, he definitely won’t… won’t be angry, hahaha…”
“This game is way too fun, come on, keep going, keep going.”
Amid the crowd’s endless teasing, the man was already drenched in sweat.
Miss Jiu’er had picked dare — she surely didn’t know the Prince was here.
She wouldn’t actually go through with it, would she? He didn’t want to die!
The man was nervous to death, and the presence of the person beside him wasn’t exactly calm either.
No man would ever allow his woman to embrace another man — least of all the War God Prince.
The Prince’s supposed boundless composure was a lie — who didn’t know that on this particular matter, the Prince’s tolerance was lighter than a goose feather?
Feng Jiu’er watched the motionless man, but out of the corner of her eye, she never once let go of the shifting expression on the taller man beside him.
The instant she reached out her hand and took a small step forward, the man she’d chosen abruptly stood up.
“Miss Jiu’er, I really don’t think this is appropriate. How about — whatever the penalty is, I’ll accept it instead.”
Feng Jiu’er frowned and said softly, “Are you saying you find me distasteful?”
“I wouldn’t dare!” The man waved his hands wildly. “That’s not what I meant.”
“Then what did you mean?” Feng Jiu’er asked, crossing her arms.
“I…” The man didn’t dare turn his head to look.
The Prince had suddenly shown up without even greeting Miss Jiu’er — clearly he was here in disguise. Could he possibly expose the Prince’s identity in front of everyone?
As the man fidgeted anxiously, Feng Jiu’er asked, “Are you worried the Prince will be displeased?”
“This is just a game — how could the Prince be so petty?”
“Tell me — wasn’t there a time, when I wasn’t around, that your camp life got so dull you brought a few beauties back to play games too?”
“No, never!” The man waved his hands forcefully, his whole body swaying with the motion.
“Miss Jiu’er, we never did that. The Prince would never allow such things to happen in the camp.”
“Oh.” Feng Jiu’er nodded. “Then what should we do about this game? I wouldn’t want to break the rules.”
“Since you’re unwilling, never mind then.” She turned and looked toward Di Wu Ya.
But her gaze only swept over Di Wu Ya for the briefest moment.
“He’s unwilling — which of you is willing? The Prince isn’t here anyway, so if none of you say anything, there won’t be any problem.”
The man desperately wanted to say: the Prince is here, right beside you.
But the woman passing in front of Di Wu Ya seemed entirely unaware of anything, and kept walking forward.
Just as Feng Jiu’er was about to pass by Di Wu Ya, the tall figure suddenly rose to his feet.
Di Wu Ya’s long legs took a step, blocking Feng Jiu’er’s path, and in the same motion his long arm swept out and pulled her tightly into his embrace.
“Mm—” The entire venue erupted at once.
Who could have imagined that, besides the Prince, someone else would dare provoke Miss Jiu’er so openly?
Everyone applauded and cheered for this nameless man, while also mourning for him in the same breath.
Teasing Miss Jiu’er only ever ended one way — was this guy drunk? How could he possibly have such nerve?
