Chapter 1901: Feng Clan Arc: Too Bold Indeed

Early the next morning, Xing Zizhou knocked on the side chamber’s door again.

Feng Jiu’er heard the sound and walked out from the inner room.

“Any news?”

“Mm.”

Xing Zizhou nodded. “I heard that Old General Yuan is already on his way here, and Feng Rui is also preparing to set out.”

“According to what our brothers found out, the owner of the Yuelai Inn is Feng Rui himself.”

“Jiu’er, do you think there’s a chance Feng Rui might make his move against Old General Yuan directly at the Yuelai Inn?”

“Feng Rui’s guts are simply too big.”

Xiao Yingtao sat down beside the table.

“Yesterday I made an excuse to go shopping and found the coachman who guided us that day. I learned quite a bit about Old General Yuan.”

“The common folk here all deeply admire him. If Feng Rui truly harmed Old General Yuan, I don’t think the people would let it rest.”

“Unless there’s proof that Feng Rui intends to harm Old General Yuan, he’ll always be able to find some excuse to shirk responsibility.”

Feng Jiu’er poured herself a cup of tea.

She raised the cup, drank it down in one gulp, and looked at everyone.

“Let’s go. We need to get inside the inn before Feng Rui arrives.”

“Jiu’er, we’re going to a brothel?”

Xiao Yingtao nearly choked on her tea.

“Otherwise, should we just wait here for news?”

Feng Jiu’er glanced at Xiao Yingtao.

“You’ll keep playing the maid. Xing Zizhou will come with me. It’s better if Jian Yi doesn’t show his face.”

Feng Jiu’er said softly.

“Why Xing Zizhou?”

Xiao Yingtao frowned.

Unless there was a special reason, Xiao Yingtao was never willing to go to a place like that.

“Wife, don’t misunderstand. I never go to places like that.”

Xing Zizhou waved his hand. “If Jiu’er has arranged it this way, she must have her reasons.”

“It’s not so easy for anyone to see through Xing Zizhou and me going together.”

Feng Jiu’er shook her head. “As for Hero Jian Yi, that’s another matter.”

Xiao Yingtao pursed her lips and nodded. “I can’t deny it — Xing Zizhou is far more quick-witted than Jian Yi.”

Her gaze landed on Jian Yi, and she couldn’t help but purse her lips into a smile.

“I was just thinking, if some woman got a little too enthusiastic with him, would Jian Yi end up hitting her?”

“Alright, hurry up and go get dressed for the part. Xing Zizhou and I will be sworn brothers, and you’ll be our maid.”

Feng Jiu’er waved her hand.

“We’ll leave through the back door in a moment. Jian Yi will stay behind. The two of you go change first — we move in the time it takes one stick of incense to burn.”

“Good.”

“Mm.”

Xiao Yingtao and Xing Zizhou each nodded and turned to walk toward their respective inner rooms.

Feng Jiu’er raised her eyes to look at Jian Yi, then pulled out the map she had hastily drawn the night before and set it on the table.

“Jian Yi, come here.”

“This is a map of the Yuelai Inn’s layout. In a moment, you go first to…” Feng Jiu’er discussed the arrangements with Jian Yi before finally hurrying off to get dressed herself, with a hint of urgency.

One stick of incense later, two young masters — one tall, one short — arrived in front of the Yuelai Inn, followed by a maidservant.

The women stationed at the inn’s entrance were overjoyed at the sight of the well-dressed, handsome men.

Soon, Feng Jiu’er, Xing Zizhou, and Xiao Yingtao were led up to a private booth on the second floor.

From where they sat, they had a clear view of the activity below — it was the best vantage point on the second floor for watching the stage on the first.

“The two young masters — do you have any girls you’re already acquainted with?”

A woman knelt beside them, attentively pouring wine.

Xiao Yingtao, standing behind Feng Jiu’er, watched the overflowing warmth of the woman and couldn’t help covering her mouth, giving a light cough.

Did the women here have no backbone at all?

Her body was practically glued to Jiu’er.

Fortunately, her own man had worn a cold expression the moment he walked in — otherwise, that woman would have surely lost out.
